- The EMD GP15-1 is a 4-axle diesel-electric locomotive built by General Motors Electro-Motive Division between June 1976 and March 1982. Intended to provide an alternative to the rebuilding programs that many railroads were applying to their early road switchers, it is generally employed as a yard switcher or light road switcher. A total of 310 units were built for American railroads. A number of GP15-1s remain in service today for yard work and light road duty.

Great announcement! Keep the modern UP and leaser/short line paint schemes coming! Now we just need a Patriot Rail SW1500 that resembles the Kingman Terminal Railway
Thank you!
Very cool but no RJ Corman GP-15’s like numbers 1561 or 1560. Maybe next run.
Sounds like a great request for athearn-productsuggestions@athearn.com we might be able to run those in the next release.
Where’s the Union Pacific models????
We ran those in a former run.
Those Legendary Liveries Southern GP15-1s are WILD. 🤣
Yes they are!
Thank you for the MoPac GP15AC!!!
You're welcome. It's a good month for MoPac fans eh?
@@AthearnModelTrains: Athearn takes good care of the MoPac modelers…and continues to raise the bar on detail and accuracy!
So happy to finally see SAV is getting their GP15s in Ho scale form.
Thank god
We are happy to announce them.
Ok y'all done made my day with the highhood Geep 15😂. Someone must have stumbled across the fanfic story I started on years ago and gave up on after the first chaper.
You never know :)
I'm not a Southern guy, but those "Legendary Liveries" GP15-1s look awesome!
They sure look classy don't they?
Man, I never would have foreseen the high hood Southern units! That was a nice surprise. It just reminds me of a unit I have often wanted to see...a Southern high hood SD40T-2 with the 123-inch snoot, with the dual big snowplows like they ran on their SD40-2's. So, you're saying there's a chance? 😄👍
There is always a chance, especially if you send us an email at athearn-productsuggestions@athearn.com
You should do all of you products with numbers and without numbers so it will make it easier to do a fleet of locomotives and rolling stock
We have in the past and it never sold well, that said we'll try it again on these MoPac GP15s and a few future products and see how sales are.
@@AthearnModelTrains Also any kind of plans on redoing the cow and calf switchers in the future
Will the patriot rail GP15s come with the specific decals?
Yes
Yes
Is there an estimated delivery for D&RGW DCC units? I've had a pair on pre-order for about 25 months, now.
These are definitely nice. But I'm still waiting on an Athearn CSX GP15T I preordered over 2 years ago.
Me too! Haven't seen any updates at all on them, and apparently the BLE tunnelmotors got cancelled? Checked with the hobby shop I ordered them through and they're not even on the production list anymore!

I would like to see more updates on items preordered more than a year ago.
We currently have an ETA on those of November of this year.
Yes!!! More Florida central!!!
We had to do that scheme!
You can’t buy anything from Athern. You can only preorder. I’ve been waiting for a year and a half with no hope in sight!
A year and a half for what? We are getting stock in now and the backlog is slowly going away.
I really like the MoPac units with the four spark arrestors.
MoPac certainly had some cool equipment!
How about an AVR (Allegheny Valley RR ) one day
Good idea, shoot us an email at athearn-productsuggestions@athearn.com
A high hood GP15 is wild 😂 and I'm for it
Neat huh? Not real but it could have been.
Really like the Demonstrators.
They do look cool, now we can see what it might have looked like if EMD had done them.
