thank you for being all inclusive as far as the fiber one can afford and still have a lovely garment . The point you made about an acrylic sweater your grandmother knit in the 70's being sustainable by virtue of it still being worn.
❤️ no yarn snobbery here! I think that aspect of sustainability can be forgotten sometimes - acrylic definitely holds up best to years of wash and wear 😅
I love Lily's eye for detail (for instance what she says about placement of the stripes). She really thinks about everything. I am now knitting the calm night cami, my first Lily Kate pattern. I love knitting it and I love the way it's turning out.
Thanks for a great podcast. Every pattern you design has so much thought put into it and if you use some elements of previous patterns that’s a good idea too. I really like so many of your designs and look forward to your new releases. I love the calm down cardigan how it slants out at the bottom front. I like the fashion of sewn waistcoats that seem to be in lots of shops just now and fancy trying your cardigan with short sleeves so it looks waistcoat ish without showing my 70 yr old bingo wings I also appreciate hearing about budget friendly yarn that knits up nicely. You look stunning in your makes and I met you at Harrogate knitting and stitching show once and you were so helpful, friendly and down to earth. Thank you x
Thank you for watching! Definitely lots of thought into it, hopefully makes the 3 restarts worthwhile 😅 & thank you so much! Hope you had the best time at the Knitting & Stitching show 😃
i really love your approach when it's coming to the use of expensive yarns and inclusivity! and all the care and thoughts that you put in your designs, it's truly incredible! thanks so much!
Thank you! It just doesn't sit right with me to use super expensive yarns all the time, although I certainly enjoy a luxury yarn as much as the next person!
Beautiful style and colors in your designs! I love your podcasts and your reflections on your experiences and I love how you also come back to previous designs and rethink and rework them to perfection!
Thank you! I actually really enjoy revisiting patterns - it would be a shame for a pattern to fade into the background just because my taste in colours & style had changed!
Love the tick idea for tracking increases! I wrote a pattern out that was old school with a similar tick system to track all the increases. Great idea!😀
I love a “tick sheet”. It keeps me on track and I find myself making one as most designers I’ve knit from don’t include this. I believe as well it makes knitting accessible and helps with success for new knitters! Thanks for taking the time. ❤️
Lily I love the colors, love the designs, and your attention to the details, the fit looks perfect on every one of your designs. They're gorgeous!!! That is the perfect shade of red in the Calm Down Cardigan.
Thankyou for considering all yarns in your designs. This is something I am conscious about when knitting from my head or designing for others. Choice for every purse! Coming from someone like you has a strong impact than from a new designer like me. Thanks 🤩
@@lilykatemakes agreed. I also often sample a design for say £10 and if I like the result then it can get translated into silk, merino or cashmere. Some fibres make colour prominent and bright where others don’t or the provider only has a few colours.
I really appreciate your eye for detail and it´s very noticeable you have an educated background in constructing clothes. There are many patterns out there which make me think about the abilities of the designer. Your patterns are well done and really thought through! I made your Lawrenson Sweater. I fact it´s so beautiful it was the first pattern I have ever purchased on Ravelry.
Funnily enough I have no education in clothing construction at all - I did A-level Textiles (the qualifications we study at age 16-18 in the UK) but it was more of an art subject where we made abstract arty pieces, never anything wearable. Completely self taught when it comes to knitting & designing 🙈. I'm so glad you liked the Lawrenson sweater! It's one of my all time faves!
They are all completely gorgeous with your usual attention to detail. I may have just bought some wide leg linen trousers to wear with all of these when I make them!
@@lilykatemakes it totally does! you know that very feminine designs aren’t really my cup of tea for myself but the feels right tee and the take turns tank both look right up my alley! amazing and classic fit on both and great idea to rework them for another „more basic“ version to show off their versatility ☺️
😍😍😍 That's so awesome that my silly little "sleeve archipelago" stuck - thank you for mentioning me, that was such a wonderful surprise! ❤ I loved the video and you talking about the details and your thought process, why you like or don't like a specific detail and which thoughts went into your designing process. 🥰 I enjoyed it and it gave me food for thoughts!
Lily Kate, I love your podcast. I am a new Knitter, but I’ll bet your patterns are very easy to follow and you explain very well so I really love all your garments that you have made. It’s hard to pick the first one to start with for a new Knitter, which one would you say I should start with, cause I wanna make them all
So brave … red lippy … white top….! Thanks for the walkthrough of the clever and thoughtful detailing in your designs. I really appreciate how you spend so much time and effort in making things ‘just right’ and of course that attention to detail isn’t necessarily obvious in a pattern thumbnail. Re-using elements across designs is fine - most knitters won’t have every one of your patterns, and besides, those elements have a function you’ve taken time to perfect. And I concur about the Tonight top: it’s great for Irish summer!
I did feel like I was living life on the edge with that move 😅 I thought a longer video might be best to explain these details, as like you said, they aren't immediately obvious in a thumbnail where all you see is 'stripy top' or 'plain tee'. Hope your Irish summer provides better weather than this English one!
I've been waiting for the Movement Tee to come out since I've heard about it from one of the test knitters. Even more eager to cast it on now. I love how much attention to detail you incorporate in your designs. BTW, I also learnt about leaving more space in the bottom of a frame in art class in middle school. So cool to apply that also in garment design.
Lovely to see all these designs and understand a bit more about the process for designing. In terms of future designs, I’d love to see another cardigan, with Lily-esque neat, fitted set in sleeves 😅 In my head the perfect cardigan would be a longer, much less oversized version of Calm Down Cardigan…. Still an every day classic, but a wee bit more form fitting.
I think the color palette is very nautical actually, reminds me of the maritime signal flags, love it! Just bought the Take Turns tank because of your update, was going to go with a different pattern but due to the details you painstakingly took, I bought yours instead because it was just what I was looking for in a tank ❤
I do like a nautical vibe! No sailing experience whatsoever but I like the styling 😅 Thank you so much for buying my pattern, it really is appreciated! It's a simple looking tank but I hope the details do make a difference x
Just wanted to say that im knitting the second of your patterns the feels right tee and loving how its written (haven’t finished the first one yet but lets not discuss my WIPs 😂) i mean its a pleasure to knit ❤
This is my style. I think I will make all of these. Just made one like the white one. I have a blue on the needle. But will definitely make some of your makes
I would love to test your new tee (the creme white one with yarn bought in Copenhagen). Do You have a testers list or some way to come in consideration. I am use to testknit. I have testknitted for many designers (Ankestrick, Lilalu, Natasja Hornby and so on) I see on Ravelry that some of my fellow testers do test for You :)
Your designs are beautiful! I love your attention to detail and dedication to make them look seamless. You are correct, every artist has a repetitive pattern/style to their work. I’ve worked in an artistic industry for 30+ years and have seen that regularly. I even remember seeing artists lifetime exhibitions at the Art Institute and noticing patterns😮😂😉. You will change things over time, but not completely with each design. When something works, it works. 🧶💕
Your patience and dedication to detail elevates your designs and is greatly appreciated. Thank you
Thank you! They do test my patience sometimes hahaha

I’m making my third Tonight top right now and it makes a perfect sense for me in Southern California
love that! Glad to hear it's useful!

Love the striped tee. Will definitely knit at least one. Currently in winter in Melbourne, and I do hope uk gets some sun soon xx
Wow, I really appreciate all the attention you paid to the tank! Everything you thought of and explained is why I’ll buy the pattern❤
Thank you so much! It's great to know the work is appreciated ❤️

Easier for me, and easier for you! Better all around I think!

my mum always does this too 😊 It actually makes my life easier with pattern writing too haha
Lily I love the colors, love the designs, and your attention to the details, the fit looks perfect on every one of your designs. They're gorgeous!!! That is the perfect shade of red in the Calm Down Cardigan.
So kind of you, thank you! Isn't the red amazing!
And this is why I love your designs/patterns so much! I make them for myself and my daughter xxoo
Yay! I'm so glad you both like them ❤️
Thankyou for considering all yarns in your designs. This is something I am conscious about when knitting from my head or designing for others. Choice for every purse! Coming from someone like you has a strong impact than from a new designer like me. Thanks 🤩
Precisely, I think the colour / style choice can make far more of a difference than the price sometimes. Thank you for watching ❤️

Thank you! I think we all have a never ending to-knit list 😅
Love your detail with regards the patterns you create and how they are all so tailored. Thank you
thank you! I think all the restarts are worth it in the end :)
Gorgeous designs, with lots of detail for superb fitting. I’ll be getting the patterns for the tees when ready and out. Thank you!
Thank you so much! Not long for the Movement Tee now 😊

Love all the details you think about when designing. Beautiful makes! Also, Love your trousers! Gorgeous fit💙
thank you! Usually works out that the simplest looking ones require most work 😅
So many beautyful patterns. Thanks a lot for showing. I am looking forward for the dates they come to buy them.
thank you! The Movement Tee is available now :)
They are all completely gorgeous with your usual attention to detail. I may have just bought some wide leg linen trousers to wear with all of these when I make them!
Love a wide leg linen trouser! I have a navy, a white, and a beige pair 😅
❤ Wow! Gorgeous designs. You are so creative and clever. Thank you 😊
that is very kind of you, thank you!
Fab as always, really love the tailoring aspect you apply to your patterns (shaping). Love the stripe top, have this pattern and the stripes 💪🏻🥰
Thanks lovely! The stripy one would really suit you! 🤪
Fantastic video, Lily! Really enjoyed the look behind the designing scene and now have two of your patterns on my to make list 😊
Thanks Marlene! Hopefully it makes some kind of sense! Which are you fancying?

I love the idea of a tick sheet. I’ve just found you here on YT, but now I’m going to purchase one of your designs just to get the tick sheet!
Thank you! Not all my designs have them, but hopefully they are useful when appropriate!
I cant wait for the calm night ❤
yay! coming soon!
Love the idea of being inclusive with adorable yarns ❤ cable cardigan please 🙏 ❤
Your designs are absolutely beautiful ❤️💙🤍
Thank you!

Hello from sunny San Diego, just found your podcast
Hello from cloudy England!

❤❤❤❤❤
I would like to see some turtleneck pattern but using smaller needle size, something that i can wear with jacket
My Tonight Top might fit the bill!
How about a variegated + solid for that last tee?
you could do that for sure!
You look so pretty in your lovely short white or creamshort sleeve top. & your very red LIPSTICK. Beautiful Woman. 💯 🏴🇨🇦🍷CHEERS.
The stress is on the third syllable of the word archiPELago.
