The Boot is great !!! However I have idolized Bernie since I started playing keys in a band in the early 70's. I can't even count the number of times I have seen Bernie w/FunkMobb over the years. But I also am glad I got to see him with the Woo Warriors before he died...RIP Bernie and thanks for your music and inspiration.
At 1:14 into video, I see my brother James Bass, aka "E-man", who was one of Bootsy's stage guys. It brought tears to my eyes because he passed away 5 years ago in 2011. Thank you Bootsy, Bone, Razor, Frankie, Catfish, Lynn, Dawn, and everybody else that I had the opportunity to hangout with for a minute back in da day. Love you guys something fierce. Albie
It gets no better. Been lov’n Bootsy’s work for fifty freak’n years. Still fresh, still brings a smile. Timeless, colorblind, quality funk. Thank you sir, from an old white guy. What a career this man has had, the legends he’s worked with. Right up there with the best. In a a way, to me, like a cross between Hendrix and Zappa. Virtuoso guitarist with Zappa like creativity and irreverence. Add some funk and stir well. Saliva or indicate, mixes nicely, these tunes age so well.
Bootsy is to the Bass what Jimmy Hendrix was to guitar, which essentially places him amongst the shakers, movers, and establishers of the art form. This video only proves my point, KEEP THE MUSIC ALIVE!
He was in James Browns band where he learned "to be tight". He brought James strict discipline into George Clintons band ....and then The Mother Ship landed !!
@@davidlow120 He is right and as a musician myself, studied with Miles Davis and John Coltrane alumni Bill Cole let me tell you that is exactly my opinion too. He IS the Hendrix of bass in every way except public recognition. And that counts less than the music itself. James Browns peak was with the JB's that included Bootsy and his brother before Bootsy perfect Parliament Funkadelic with his on the one tight, fluid and disciplined bass playing. Even Mingus was great but he was different and a composer.
Love!! Love!! Love love love!!! I had just partaken in a very tiny dose of some magical fungi. That started to kick in when the friend of me posted a very colorful picture of bootsy. And then I clicked on this link and holy fuck.. I forgot how awesome the jams were dude. The colors I'm going to go back inside my head. I just wanted to let you know how awesome this was. And is. Such an Ultra Pro live mix. .. AWESOME! ...Bootsy Collins is a mother f***ing Musical GENIUS --- every single R&B / Funk Artist after him RIPPED OFF HIS SHIT! ...they're Still doing it.
Bootsy and Pattie, thank you, very much!!! for having, me, at your wedding!! I love you!!!!!!!!!!!!! Brother!!! And, I'LL keep the funk, alive!!! Believe me!! Garrison Berry, from, Cincinnati Ohio. May 21, 2019.
This is awesome. Love when he plucks the space bass. I enjoy all Bootsy has to offer, but love most when he throws down on the 1; what comes next is pure after shock. Bootsy were waiting for you in NYC.
For the longest time I have given Bootsy credit for being one of the baddest bass players around, of which there is only a handfull anyway; but after this performance, Bootsy is just flat out GREAT...in the highest category of bass players period.
Bootsy's legacy is up there with Charles Mingus and James Jameson imo; his body of work with the JB's, Parliament-Funkadelic, The Rubber Band/Houseguests, not to mention his formidable work with Bill Laswell and Buckethead in the 90s equates to an unimpeachable talent. No bassist has moved more asses that 'Zilla.
Man Bootsy is the best bass player I have went to every he played a concert in Fort Worth Texas and Dallas Texas zapped cameo funkadelic barcade Parliament I am a Funk a tear
The Parlia-Funkadelic-ment Thang is obviously very heavy in more ways than one. Super stupid to me is where the rock turned to metal. Except you’re right, nobody talks about how that metal was GOLD

Thank you for keeping real loving down the Earth smooth sailing no g********** no cutting that God is no bad president no bad life for smooth sailing and the funk it'll never die like hip hop that's that's where hip hop came from❤❤
I figured Bootsy would play mainly Bootsy songs. They played brief segments of just 4 Bootsy songs (Psychotoicbumpschool, Hollywood Squares, Body Slam, and I'd Rather Be With You). The rest was Cosmic Slop, some fast gospel number, and 30 minutes of trippin.
Probably because they were pretty mercurial with album releases and touring.. I saw them and they were indeed amazing. Two guys in the band did a gospel inspired tambourine-jam/battle that was one of the most amazing things I've ever seen or heard. Bootsy also came out into the crowd at one point and basically shook everyone's hand or gave them high-fives.
+Nokia Rodriguez They were way too creative... and they were spreading messages of love, spirit, and a deeper understanding. The suits don't like that...they feel that they must control all. God bless.☮☯️🕉
probably cause we are not all the same. As you can see there are 64 four people who didn't like this video. Deserve is a biggie. To start with hunger in the world: does anybody deserves to die of starvation?, of course not but it happens anyway. Plus, why we give so much value to recognition, fame, ratings, charts and so on? I think any art form it's an everlasting pursue for self expression and connection with our universal language. It's not about winning prizes. Life events are very complex.
There’s just something intangible - this Pfunk is always uncut, it’s straight from the funkonauts. That being said I feel like they’re forcing it a bit in this performance - they could’ve sat in some grooves much much longer and let the funk ooze out and make things happen in its own time.
The Rather B with You solo is always the highlight of his show. And it never gets old when you're there. Here you just hear it. In concert, you FEEL it just buzzing through you.
Funk on the Green. The Funkfest. Mothership landed Oakland,Cali. 7/1976 was there and is Bootsy gonna go on down ,while exposing his pubic hairs. Was startlin to me at 10 years old but i will never forget his bass solos him are Stanley Clarke . a tie?
