- This is a beautiful ride down part of the South Devon Coast. Riding the National Cycle Network 28. I ride from Liverton through Newton Abbot down to Torquay, through Paignton, Goodrington up to Berry Head, Brixham. I then take a ferry trip across to Dartmouth visiting the scenic and stunning Blackpool and Slapton sands in the picturesque South Hams. Finally, heading back over the hills along the cycle route 28 to Totnes to complete my 66 mile loop (with 6,000 ft of climbing) Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
It's funny as an Aussie, we have always been taught English beaches are just pebbles and rocks.. Nothing could be further from the truth Dave!! Sensational, u have great coastline/beaches and spectacular countyside also.. One day I will be riding down your way, also the The Cotwolds and Chiltern Hills..
AndyC70, Thank you, Devon is a beautiful part of the Uk, with a fantastic coastline and Dartmoor is just magical. There are so many great routes to ride around here. You have chosen some beautiful places to go riding here in the UK and if you would like my company when your here in Devon, then give me a shout and I’ll take you out on a tour of Dartmoor if you want. Thanks for watching and happy riding. 👍🏻🚴🏻😀
@@electricbikerider Cheers, will do if I ever get over.. Thanks mate :)

Nice one Dave... Fantastic day on the bike👍
That was a fantastic day out riding, and I’m looking forward to doing again soon. Thanks for watching and happy riding take care. 👍🏻😎🚴🏻♂️
My trip home to the south hams and Torbay was cancelled last April due to Covid, it's been 4 years now. I thought I'd see if anyone had done a virtual ride in Devon as I did some spinning in the living room. Thanks for taking me home for 30 minutes as I span my bike in sub-Arctic Yukon 😊
Wow, you are so far from home and beautiful Devon you must be missing it terribly. That was a great ride that I must do again very soon. Thanks for watching and happy riding keep warm and take care. 😎🚴🏻♂️👍🏻
Brilliant video thankyou. You make a long hilly cycle ride look so easy! So sad to think this was only last year and seeing how normal and happy everyone was. Now look what we're becoming😪
Pauly Flyer, Hi mate, I was saying the same thing only the other day, how life has changed now for all of us. But it’s great to see so many more people turning to cycling for all the fantastic benefits it offers. Devon is so hilly that you get used to the climbing, it’s weird but I now enjoy the hills. Stay safe and thanks for watching and happy riding, 👍🏻😀🚴🏻♂️
Those beaches were amazing and they looked so quiet. Probably not the case when the kids are off. Great video Dave, really enjoyed watching.
The Fair Weather Cyclist, thanks, that was a great day out riding, so beautiful along that coastline, I can’t wait to ride it again. Thanks for watching and happy riding. 👍🏻🚴🏻😀
Fantastic video beautiful ride some beautiful locations thanks for sharing atb
Ian's outdoors recovery, thank you, it was a great ride, one I will definitely do again. The Devon coastline is so beautiful to ride. Thanks for watching and happy riding 👍🏻🚴🏻😀
@@electricbikerider very welcome bit far for me travel as I'm in Scotland but have some beautiful places here atb
Ian's outdoors recovery, Your very lucky, Scotland is a wonderful country to ride, be safe my friend. 😀🚴🏻👍🏻
Fabulous memories rekindled revisiting those sights. A bit of a swift approach to the cliff tops of Berry Head (power to those disc breaks 😉) and proof positive yet again that where there’s a hill there’s a Dave!! Thanks for sharing.
Rhian Harvey, Thank you, I keep finding the hills don’t I. Thanks for watching my darling. 👍🏻🚴🏻😀
Well done squire, As a guy who rides motorbikes, I am going to do this same route, not on my motorbike but on my new ebike, I will only use pedal assist on steep gradients. I promise!!! Top job, all the best x
gtpaul, hi it’s such a great route with so much to see, and you will even enjoy those hills on your Ebike. Have a great ride thanks for watching and happy riding. 😀🚴🏻👍🏻
Fantastic vlog with some stunning images. The Devon Tourist Board should pay you commission. Thanks for posting.
David Appleton, Thank you, it was a fantastic ride, down a beautiful part of the Devon’s coastline. How good would that be, getting paid for what I love doing, by the tourist board lol. And taking cyclist on tour rides of Devon, for their holiday. Now you got me thinking. 🤔 Thanks for watching and happy riding 👍🏻🚴🏻😀
What a brilliant ride Dave, so different to the FCC route we did. Devon has so much to offer, moors, coast etc. Loving the vlog Dave. Nice one ☝️
Andrew Lord, Thank you buddy, I love living in Devon, it’s a cyclist dream with so many different routes to go on, from the coast to the moors. And riding on Dartmoor with no fcc legends with me, just isn’t the same. You guys are awesome. Thanks for watching and happy riding my friend 👍🏻🚴🏻😀
Great Vlog buddy nice to see this countryside again has I used to live in Totnes
Tim Smith, Hi buddy the south hams is a beautiful part of Devon and Totnes is a great little town, I used to live in Ivybrigde so I wasn’t to far away from you. The Devon Coastline is wonderful and I must ride that way again soon. Take care and thanks for watching. 😀🚴🏻♂️👍🏻
Great vlog Dave beautiful scenery👍

Lovely route. Good few years since I visited Paignton and surrounding area.
Paul Rose, yes it’s such a beautiful coastline around there, I haven’t been for years myself. Thanks for watching 🚴🏻👍🏻😀
Just discovered your channel and subscribed! It makes a welcome change from watching my own (mainly Yorkshire) bike rides channel. Although I've cycled quite a lot in N Devon, Dartmoor, Tamar Valley and Somerset, I've never taken my bike to South Devon although I've walked around the area a lot over the years so was able to recognise most of the locations on this video, but, as I was on my indoor trainer cycling along to a playlist, I had you on mute so couldn't tell what you were saying! I shall make my way through your videos over the next few weeks while on the trainer. I've done some of them and uploaded the videos e.g. Tarka Trail and Cheddar Gorge, but always interesting to see these places from another perspective and at a different time of year. Anyway, as I said, your channel makes a nice change from mine - thanks for uploading these rides. :)
Hi Bev, I’m just doing a bit of housekeeping on the channel and just saw your wonderful messages you have left on some of my videos. I’m really sorry for the delayed response but I have no idea why these were never highlighted for me to view. Im so happy you have enjoyed seeing me cycle the parts of Devon you have enjoyed, while on your trainer. Thanks for watching and happy riding, take care. 🚴🏻♂️👍🏼
@@electricbikerider keep on making the videos! 😊🚴♂️🚴♂️🚴♂️
@@BevMattocks, Hi Bev, I’m happy to say I am really enjoying making the videos and sharing my little part of Devon. I’m actually just editing next week’s vlog, from Topsham and I’ve got many more to come and hopefully you enjoy watching them. Many thanks for your support. Happy Riding and take care.🚴🏻♂️👍🏼
I'm doing very similar to this loop but with start and finish in Moretonhampstead in Dartmoor National Park from where a SCENIC stretch of NCN28 goes down to Bovey and this is my favorite part of the ride. Just beautiful. I actually found this video typing in Google NCN:28 because I'm planning doing NCN 28 from Newton Abbot all te way up to Okehampton then join NCN27 & NCN3 all the way to Ilfracombe. Kinda coast-to-coast ride with some breathtaking views (and climbs lol) very soon. The different is I'm going to do it on my (very)cheap carrera bike :D I'm not pro at all but I love riding. Keep your fingers crossed for me :)
Greetings from Torquay mate! Let me subscribe and enjoy more rides on this chanel :)
Hi, this was a beautiful ride on a fantastic day. NCN 28 is a route I must ride again soon. You will love NCN 27 & 3 which I also have on my channel for you to see. It doesn’t matter what you ride as long as you love riding, I started my cycling adventures on a Carrera which was a great bike and I have very fond memories of it. You live in a fantastic area and Devon is the best place for all your cycling adventures. Good luck, be safe and thanks for watching. 🚴🏻♂️👍🏻😃
that's one hilly route!
Hi Dave, that was a very hilly route about 60 miles with 6000ft of elevation. It was very beautiful and one I must ride again soon. Many thanks for watching and happy riding 🚴🏻♂️👍🏼
Harveys cycling channel if you guys can get 3 or 4 weeks holiday cycle from UK to crete Greece via the French Riviera (lots of hot chicks) and showers on the beach and great swimming. Then on to Italy Genoa - onto Rapallo - over the Boca mountain across the valley it flattens out completey passing famous Italian motorcycle factories onroute. then diagonally across Italy onto parma. Then on to a ferry on the Adriatic coast . (youre now a ferry ride across to Croatia) then sail to greece and a days ride onto Athens . Then down a short ride to the ferry port few miles away and across on the ferry to crete. Spend a day or 3 there then fly home . Amazing beautiful ride and pretty peaceful with beautiful summer weather and perfect sum lighting those impressionist artists were crazy over . It took me, including camping overnight 24 days total. no rain. Best go with some mates carry panniers. Cheers great video and good music. at first I thought the blues guitar was Snowy White
Hi M8 are you still using the same front and rear lights or have you changed if so what would you recommend thx
Graeme Eccles, Hi I’m using the Bontrager ion 200 RT / Flare RT2 light set. I do highly recommend these lights for any cyclist. They have a great battery life, very bright and fever weight, so a great allrounder. Good luck and thanks for watching and happy riding. 👍🏻🚴🏻😀
@@electricbikerider Hi Harvey are these the only lights you are running was looking for a set for group rides at night and riding alone at night thx again
Graeme Eccles, my other set of lights are the lezyne hecto drive 400 XL front and the rear is the lezyne strip drive pro 300. I hope that helps, take care buddy. 👍🏻🚴🏻😀
Hi mate, do you have this route on gpx or strava?
Hi Jason, I've added a link to the route. It's a wonderful trip with lots of scenery and climbing. Enjoy. Thanks for watching. Happy Riding ridewithgps.com/routes/31100855
What bike did you use Harvey?
Pauly Flyer, Hi again I was riding and still am the Giant Defy, it’s such an allrounder bike fast comfortable and great for climbing I love it. Take care 👍🏻😀🚴🏻♂️
