I was thinking of exactly that episode watching this. Wasn't the original Transit built with an 8x4 load bay? Glad Renault's finally getting with the program!
With orange plastic trim instead of the yellow, it'll be in your brand's colours. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find him, maybe you can hire Nagy.
It is possible to switch the seat belt noise off. There is a plug under the seat connected to the seat belt buckle, if unplugged the noise will disappear completely
Does that affect the safety feature where the seatbelt pulls you in tight to the seat when you have a collision? The buckle retracts a couple of inches
Technically that's not not a way to switch it off. Switching implies a physical switch or some sort of software control using the touch screen. Still a helpful tip nonetheless.
Yeah, 'no way to turn it off' implies 'while you're driving'. There are any number of ways to get rid of it completely, but if you're that determined to break the law there isn't a lot Renault can do to help.
No to sure weather it stops the buckle from retracting in an accident but all I keen is that it stops the seat belt noise and light from coming on. Best to have it switched on I’d say but it’s one way I keen how to stop the noise completely but again, it’s breaking the law so best to have it on and belt on at all times! 👍
If you like Renault - do yourself a favour and get the electric version. Even if you don't care about the emissions, or even the lower fuel costs, around London you will love the instant torque and free congestion charge!
Trafic does not come as an Ev, he would need to choose a Kangoo instead, and these are too small. Electric Mercedes or BYD vans are probably the only alternatives. Nissan e-NV200 is too small as well.
these vans are excellent I have one but mine's a Fiat Talento model 2017 and they do feel like driving a car. The seats hold around you which giving great back support. another feature on all the models is that they are very efficient I have mine in eco mode and for 50 litres worth of diesel you can get over 700 miles easy. the vans also come with a new feature called Adblue it cleans the diesel emissions giving it that Euro 6 garuntee. The hands free Media SatNav is the best feature as it automatically connects to the phone as you enter the van. The engine noise is quiet 80mph down the motorway all I can hear is the wind on the roof rack. these vans are the best for anyone looking for a mid-range budget proffessional vehicle. Compared to my old van which was as 06' renault trafic used to feel like driving a bus. These new 17 plate models have changed and surprisingly have a slightly bigger amount of space than my old one. Great video Tom do love these vans.
To turn off the seat belt warning you just plug the middle passenger seat belt into your drivers seat belt socket, problem sorted 😁, and before the health and safety brigade jump on me that was called a joke.
Dang I was going to start selling just short extension buckles so you could leave one in all the time when hopping in and out then if you want to be safety pants you plug in to the connected receiver. If that makes sense.
Web Luke yep makes complete sense, would suit couriers make multi drops who are in and out the van all the time, it’s just the legalities of it though. Still a good idea.
CaptainKidd2006 well you could design a t-shirt that looks like you are wearing a seatbelt and then use the replacement clip like username any1alive states or click the belt behind you then maybe it would work 😁👍
This is one of the best presented videos I have seen on RUclips. The presenter is better than anything you will find on TV. The editing is so professional you have to assume a huge team behind this or a genius. This guy could talk me into eating turnips. But he is not selling, it is a fair review. If he turned his interest to food tourism he'd be a millionaire in 24 months.
Iv read a few of the comments bellow are quite negative. I bought this van last week....so far i love it. I think its great. Yes in the grand scheme of things some of the features you pointed out are small but they make a difference. Im not an electrician i was a mechanic and now work in the health service fixing people . I still enjoy watching trade videos and i must say yours are very entertaining. Many thanks for literally hours of entertainment . keep up the work.
Just traded in my Mini JCW for one of these. Only had it 3 days and can't wait to start my minor upgrade of the cargo area. It's a great looking practical motor.
does look very nice and you did a fantastic van tour . I did expect you to show the trap door allowing 3m tube through the passenger side that I would think was helpful for your job . I also thought you had tried to match colour with your T shirts . enjoyed watching keep them coming
You only get the folding seat storage on the business plus edition or better. The standard Renault traffic doesn’t come with all the good extras that you have. Nice van by the one 👍
Hill Start Assist (HSA) is a system which, when you are stopped on a hill and want to drive off, will hold the brake for you for a second so your foot can move to the gas pedal without driving backwards. The Hill Start Assist system should trigger automatically and should not require any interaction of the driver. So when you are driving off and you feel like the van/car is held back for a second it might have been the Hill Start Assist system kicking in. In a friends Renault Clio ECO mode will disable the turbo he has in his car for better fuel economy. Not so sure about this van. And last stop-start will cut out the engine when you stop in front of a traffic light and you put the vehicle in neutral and release the clutch. The engine will restart itself whenever you depress the clutch and want to drive off. Do mind that the stop-start system will not work whenever the engine is cold and/or the battery is low on charge (And some other scenarios). The engine might also restart whenever it detects that the battery is depleting even when you didn't depress the clutch pedal
Great video My berlingo has the locking lever to keep one rear door locked and the rubber bumper incase you close the wrong door first, and the middle seat folds flat as a work station
good review. I bet people would never have thought a 1.6l diesel would be enough with a 145bhp. Thats quite a lot of power for a smaller engine. only 5 years ago you would have needed a 2.0l diesel for that amount of power
I’ve de-chimed many vehicles. Sometimes I’ve had to remove the ecm and de-solder the chime from the board. In the end, the piece and quite was worth it!
Hahaha, you at 3:00 reminded me of me when I got in my 2012 high trim Civic. Coming from a relatively spartan 06 Fiesta Zetec, even in just six years of improvement, it blew my mind. Lots of "what the hell is this? what the hell is that?" in the first few minutes, and still occasionally now after a year, and I still can't operate the infotainment properly! It's fantastic though, your van is in the same realm as your bed as somewhere you spend a *lot* of time and deserves some money spent. That's why I'm bitter that my company keeps me in a Fiat while my colleagues receive tooled up Transits.
Lots of these vans on the road. For every 10 trafic/vivaro/nv300/talento I see about 1 transit custom. Chatting to someone last week who had a custom up on a lift and was concerned about the corrosion underneath. Anyone with a trafic etc, look in below the van and you will see no shortage of underseal and even underseal between the bonnet skins...
I bought one and have regretted it. World’s most useless cup holders, plastic panels constantly become unclipped (especially after this Summer), door handles fall off (mine’s been in twice to have them put back on)and the metal panels are so thin they dent at any opportunity. Honestly, a acorn bounced off mine the other day, another dent. The passenger seat office thing is a useless gimmick and anything put in the large bin on top of the dash reflects off the windscreen, which is especially annoying. Use the through-load under the passenger seat and you have to have the passenger seat squab up (unless you attack it with a grinder like I did). The media interface is at the wrong angle, low sunlight, i.e. this time of year, means you frequently can’t see it. Not that that spoils the media/satnav system, LG and Windows already did that. As for the width addition to make it fit 8x4, it’s too much for some of the driveways I was used to going up and down and parking bays are now almost impossible to use. The dashboard will give you information on one thing at a time, no temperature gauge, a fuel gauge the same size as the rev counter? Seriously? My pre 2014 version was brilliant by comparison and I now feel like they haven’t learnt a thing. Oh, and the rubber bumper fix they’ve added to the back door, it falls off when you’re not looking so yeah, I have the trademark Trafic dent. It looks smart, but it isn’t smart at all.
Mate, you managed to bash Renault, LG and Microsoft in the same post. You're complaining about fuel gauge sizes, reflections. Acorn kernels apparently dent your van and the tiny increase in size means you can no longer can park it. It goes on. Honestly mate, the van doesn't seem to be the problem.
Good review, Tom. The latest update looks decent. I've got a 2016/17 model LWB and love it. As you said, all those little things make it a great place to be. Only two things really bugged me about mine. 1) they didn't set up the basic version of the stereo for full integration with phone (ie voice commands) so being in Australia, I have to pull over to make calls. As a tradie that sucks. 2) The reverse gear is a really long ratio. I work in a hilly area, and backing up a steep driveway smokes the clutch. Other than that, a bloody decent van!
Very nice van, I drove the old Trafic and found it suprisingly punchy even when fully laden. Had the LWB and it was fairly easy driving considering the length.
An excellent review thanks, Tom. I’d buy one too if I was in the market - aside from the impressive mechanics, I also like the storage/cabin refinements. 😄👌👌👏👏👏👏
I'm getting a feeling that you might just buy this exact one! Yellow accents and striping included. Although they should change them to your company colour orange for you.
I had a 2004 model Trafic and closed the wrong door first and it had the dent you spoke about. I now have a 2010 Trafic (phase 3) it has a stop on the door so no dent.
We have the Opel versions, the original , the facelift , the eco facelift , and the 2017 model , the 2017 is a big step up , it drives easy , comfy like the movano’s The interior reminds me of a luxury car, the upgraded dash with al the cup holders and storage places are much better than the previous versions , and the horizontal mounted door handles make the van so much cleaner , we got the version with the least hp but it isn’t slow , only thing that bugs me are the fabric seats, but that’s because I don’t always have clean work
And research the engine and transmission problems the Transits and Connects are having all over the world and how there are class actions being taken against Ford because of this in the US and Australia etc. Also the fact that Ford are in serious trouble financially - they just managed to survive before but they are in a much more serious position now. At least the older Transits were good mechanically even though the vans were disintegrating around you.
in fairness no matter what van you buy you should always add the extra deadlocks, it just makes sense when your driving around with £5K + of tools on board
Ive had a Trafic and a Vivaro. I loved the look of them and the roomy cab, (6’ 1 1/2”) but they were so unreliable. Between the two of them I had 2x gearboxes, 4x Clutches, 1x Turbo, 1x Air Mass Meter, 1x Inlet Manifold, 1x Front suspension, 1x Master Clutch Cylinder which means Gearbox out, etc. Rubbish. VW Transporter is the one to have.
Gearboxes go on these vans. My mates had to be replaced before 30k miles. They've been around for years and yet Renault can't be arsed to improve the box and make them reliable.
I don't have any comparison other than my old Transit Connect, but I've got one as a loaner from the garage, and I friggin' love it. Drives just like a car, very comfortable.
That will be the Transit Customs (and Connects) that are being slated all over the world for being unreliable heaps of junk with crap engines and transmissions - so much so that there are class actions being taken against Ford in the US and Australia. At least with all of the older Transits the mechanicals were good even if the vans were disintegrating around you. Might not be a Ford soon anyway with them in trouble with a massive black hole in their finances that looks far too big to get out of this time. Renault also makes and sells more vans than all the other manufacturers together in Europe so they must be doing something right and they are also the most reliable of the European brands and have been for over a decade now as well. We have been using Kangoo vans for a long time as well and they are very reliable and excellent vans so much so I bought a 2008 Kangoo Dci Expression car version last of the original design also very reliable and it sails through every MOT with no problems. Kangoos have always drove like cars so it has taken Ford a long time to catch up.
The Transit is great inside, even the mid price models, with one major flaw. You can unlock all the doors with a £10 key from Ebay. And Ford isn't interested in fixing it. That's why I'm glad my company owns my tools - a fleet of Fiats and Transits will not make a manager sleep well at night.
Good video the 8x4 sheet thing was annoying about the old traffic van. Does anyone know if you can fit one in straight standing up in the new van as I rack both sides of mine and just have a gangway down the middle thanks.
Hi Thomas very good production I like it and the Van. does it come with a hatch under the passenger seat to the rear of the van to load 3 meter pipes ?
I work for Vauxhall as a van tech. Honestly apart from the teething issues they had about 2 years ago that they ironed out there pretty good vans. See some with 180k mikes on 15 regs and there still going strong. Go for it if you like it. Just be careful with the gearbox. The bearings can sometime be a bit like chocolate and melt 😂

My cousin has a Transit Custom I have a Trafic 4 years older. The tec in the Custom seams 4 years behind the Trafic. Also my dad who works with both of us says the Trafic seams more solid.
Andy D my 2007 MK7 transit has got 240k on the clock tows a trailer regular and has never left me stranded unlike my cousins vivaros he’s had 4 in time I’ve had my transit. It’s far from perfect but it is at least reliable
nice review, and nice van, would definetly get a nice HP boost with a remap from that twin turbo 1.6 engine, although the new transits are very nice also.
Thomas nagy for top gear hounestly entertaining to watch
micheal goodwin yes should do section on vans
Yeah I was thinking the same too haha!
Was literally thinking the same thing haha even the camera angles are spot on
I agree
He’s too good for top gear now. I did have the exact same thought though
"Contractors only think in 8x4. You can show a contractor the sistine chapel and he will think ' A lot of 8x4 went into that'" - Richard Hammond
Adrian F. Long what a quote although that was about the the transit
I was thinking of exactly that episode watching this. Wasn't the original Transit built with an 8x4 load bay? Glad Renault's finally getting with the program!
Talking about a transit may I say.. The only van for me.. 👍
I don't get the meaning of 8x4. What is that? I as a German person have never heard of that.

I believe that he is
There's an electric MAN TGE too I think.
I thought he was going electric too
@Kallenator1988 The Master ZE is due imminently (but that's a bit big). I can imagine a Trafic ZE would sell like hot cakes in cities.

They need to increase the ride height, in order for a Deliveroo cyclists fit underneath with out scratching the underside

you can buy the reopalcement clips, and just use one of them in it lol
If you drive long enough and ignore the warning it eventually stops buzzing at you... or so ive heard 👀

Your new video style and cinematics in this video are absolutely amazing! Keep up the good work :)
Great video Tom, excellent content and production
that was one of the best reviews ive seen, and was professional and entertaining to boot!
Its amazing that people just cannot keep their negative comments to themself.... Great vid Tom! Sounds like a great van.
This is one of the best presented videos I have seen on RUclips. The presenter is better than anything you will find on TV. Informative, entertaining and top notch production quality
The quality of these videos are getting better and better. Good job with this one 👍🏻
The camera and video work is on another level!
Excellent video mate well done, getting very very professional making these 👏
Iv read a few of the comments bellow are quite negative.
I bought this van last week....so far i love it. I think its great. Yes in the grand scheme of things some of the features you pointed out are small but they make a difference.

Many thanks for literally hours of entertainment .
keep up the work.
Outstanding production values, keep up the good work!
This video was really well edited. Well done mate
Great review chap, think I can hear the top gear for tradesmen calling!
Just traded in my Mini JCW for one of these. Only had it 3 days and can't wait to start my minor upgrade of the cargo area. It's a great looking practical motor.
notification squad here. Great video nice review of the van looks like good set of wheels.
does look very nice and you did a fantastic van tour . I did expect you to show the trap door allowing 3m tube through the passenger side that I would think was helpful for your job . I also thought you had tried to match colour with your T shirts . enjoyed watching keep them coming
This was a quality video really enjoyed it keep up the work 👌
Thanks for the review Jeremy
Thomas you are far from a bottom of the ladder tradesman fella.......Nice looking van that has some good features.
beginning is like a hip hop video - sick m8!!!!
So good to see some one do a good van review thanks
Brilliant review. Well done.
Who does your video.. bloody good job... great flow, interesting scenes interspersed. Good stuff.
Please do more honest van or car reviews.. i like that
the production quality is amazing, great job :)
Is this an audition for the next Top Gear presenter? ;-) Great production !!
But, when you put your foot deep into the carpet … is it The Fastest Van In The Whirled?
Can't wait to see the van with a cool vinyl roof rack and racked out inside 👍
Loving this new style of video!
The production value of this video is better than most tv programmes
Looks bloody nice Tom. Good purchase mate.
I picked my Trafic Formula edition up last week the LWB version! Great van
Bloody good review that was you should do more car and van reviews your actually really good at it
well played i enjoyed that!!!!!
10:03, no way to switch that off? have you tried with renault clip? You think that's new? on smaller cars like megane 2002 it's in standard.
Dayummm. Nice editing
Pack in the day job Thomas I'm sure top gear will b in touch after seeing this!
I guess it needs Adblue so how much would buying that stuff add to the yearly running costs?
You only get the folding seat storage on the business plus edition or better. The standard Renault traffic doesn’t come with all the good extras that you have. Nice van by the one 👍
" Chunky buttons " I love it
sounds like jerermy clarkson when he says oh i love that after he explains about the seatbelt buzzer
Great video like usual

Captain Price 😂🤣
I owned a new traffic it was shit . I got a transit
But apart from that, it's alright.
Great video it felt like I was watching the old top gear show haha
Felt like I was watching an episode of Top Gear. Nice video. :)
Actually better than the TG of recent years.
This was better than the new top gear....amazing review wow
Good review, Tom. The latest update looks decent. I've got a 2016/17 model LWB and love it. As you said, all those little things make it a great place to be. Good video, that hood mishap was funny
Why was that van review so good? Youlle be snapped up for a tv show soon
I'm getting a feeling that you might just buy this exact one! Yellow accents and striping included. Although they should change them to your company colour orange for you.
Nice improvements 👍
Great van review. I have been looking at the traffic for a new van. 👍
Thats the best van interior i have ever seen
I had a 2004 model Trafic and closed the wrong door first and it had the dent you spoke about. I now have a 2010 Trafic (phase 3) it has a stop on the door so no dent.
Nice video bro
We have the Opel versions, the original , the facelift , the eco facelift , and the 2017 model , the 2017 is a big step up , it drives easy , comfy like the movano’s
The interior reminds me of a luxury car, the upgraded dash with al the cup holders and storage places are much better than the previous versions , and the horizontal mounted door handles make the van so much cleaner , we got the version with the least hp but it isn’t slow , only thing that bugs me are the fabric seats, but that’s because I don’t always have clean work
The Movanos are just rebadged Renaults anyway just like the Nissan and Fiat versions as well so they should all drive the same.
Nice camerawork!
you should have a go of the transit custom
chris moorhead yes
And research the engine and transmission problems the Transits and Connects are having all over the world and how there are class actions being taken against Ford because of this in the US and Australia etc. Also the fact that Ford are in serious trouble financially - they just managed to survive before but they are in a much more serious position now. Probably wants to keep his tools 😉 jkjk
in fairness no matter what van you buy you should always add the extra deadlocks, it just makes sense when your driving around with £5K + of tools on board
gotta be one of the most popular vans in the UK, the transits always have been good! i don't know if you get the transit custom in the US or not
Thomas depending on which van you decide to get you fitting racks into the back and roof racks on top
How have they addressed security????
Ladies and gentlemen, Thomas Nagy's Top Gear audition... "I like that"!
Ive had a Trafic and a Vivaro. I loved the look of them and the roomy cab, (6’ 1 1/2”) but they were so unreliable. Between the two of them I had

Isn't the Fort Transit Custom better than the Trafic? I have driven the new Transit and it feels really premium and is good thought.
I don't have any comparison other than my old Transit Connect, but I've got one as a loaner from the garage, and I friggin' love it. Drives just like a car, very comfortable.
Dávid Ovári Transits rock!
And when the transit was designed it was built around 8x4s, lol how long ago was that? Ive been driving one for the past 25years
That will be the Transit Customs (and Connects) that are being slated all over the world for being unreliable heaps of junk with crap engines and transmissions - so much so that there are class actions being taken against Ford in the US and Australia.
That's why I'm glad my company owns my tools - a fleet of Fiats and Transits will not make a manager sleep well at night.
this looks amazing!
U can also disconnect the wire next to the seat belt clip
Got both the old and new traffic and love them both.... Oh and I don't have a ding on the rear doors
Ive got a feeling Renault are feeling good ..Mr Nagy giving them some well earned PR.. "I Like it too! .."
Good video the 8x4 sheet thing was annoying about the old traffic van. Does anyone know if you can fit one in straight standing up in the new van as I rack both sides of mine and just have a gangway down the middle thanks.
Flat only or at an angle.
Genuinely loving the new intro style, have you hired a pro or do you just know talented people?
Scissors jack as standard. The a-team stripe does match your uniform .
Hi Thomas very good production I like it and the Van. does it come with a hatch under the passenger seat to the rear of the van to load 3 meter pipes ?
Brilliant video, more van reviews please! even if they are every ten years 😂😂
" i like that" Going for a catchphrase?
cool video. did you plan to make a video about your layout? the why and how of your choices.
Best of luck.. safe driving
Have they fixed the fuel injectors from getting waterlogged?
a lot of these features arent really new my transit custom is better as far as i can see

Except it's a Ford. Great if you like watching Trafic passing from the hard shoulder...
Or you like watching it being broken into with a spoon
My cousin has a Transit Custom I have a Trafic 4 years older. The tec in the Custom seams 4 years behind the Trafic. Also my dad who works with both of us says the Trafic seams more solid.
Andy D my 2007 MK7 transit has got 240k on the clock tows a trailer regular and has never left me stranded unlike my cousins vivaros he’s had 4 in time I’ve had my transit. It’s far from perfect but it is at least reliable
Hehehe! The bonnet part reminded me of the Kangoo I drive.
Thanks for making this review, will you be doing more vans?
Are you going to do a video of building the back of the van like your old one? Would be sick!
nice review, and nice van, would definetly get a nice HP boost with a remap from that twin turbo 1.6 engine, although the new transits are very nice also.
