The lake and basketball park is genuinely one of the best parks I’ve seen made in this game. Idk why I love it so much, maybe it’s the simplicity and detail.
I love Little Ortizia - affordable riverfront views? Yes please, lol. You should extend the pathway all the way along the train yard and connect it the road in the industrial area. I like to imagine a lot of factory workers live here and walk to work.
Idk in game, but IRL public housing is generally understood must have access to mass transit solutions. The people that live in public/affordable housing dont have salaries that allow them to afford to own and operate private vehicles. Integrating bicycle paths and bicycle routes into your city will also go a long way to adressing this issue. Otherwise, as always, fantastic job!
I can't get over how detailed you can make your builds, its really something! I would love if you would make some sort of before/after at the end of the video to get into context what changed. Anyway love your videos keep up the good work!
This came out an hour ago, but I'm still catching up on more than a few months worth of Dewy Del Mar development. It's really cool and inspiring to see the spoiler of what I haven't yet seen built! I'm dropping a like on this video now, but I'll be revisiting it when I get to it chronologically.
FWIW, I did not think that the Minas Tirith video was dumb. In fact, that was the first video of yours that I saw. The algo sent and I consumed! Then, I found the Dewey Del Mar series. All worth it. :D
Ha I appreciate it 😊 Fun fact, that video is blocked in Russia and Belarus because the studio that owns the soundtrack (Warner Bros I think?) has pulled their music from there.
An arterial is usually a large road designed to carry traffic. A local road is usually a smaller road designed for light traffic and residential zoning. A collector is usually a smaller to medium road that connects the two and often has mixed zoning types.
You could turn the green patch in the middle into a hill, making it a natural geographic obstacle. This would explain the oddly shaped empty space downtown. While making it a park is an option, the shape might not suit that purpose as well.
Before you expand a ton more it would be awesome to take a few minutes to do a cinematic review of the entire city so far. I have kind of forgot a lot of what’s going on and wanna see everything getting used!
I'll definitely do that before we start the new city center! Was thinking of making a 2024 "city so far" video at the end of last year, but then just...started playing the game again haha
Your zoo idea would be cool but I thought a small 9 hole golf course would look awesome up above the new housing community. The city is coming along very nice
Just discovered this channel and since you referenced him, definitely some City Planner vibes! For that collector and the terraced area, I’d definitely rethink the roads and parking. The area from bus depot all the way to the train should not have zoning nor parking. And within the terraces itself, maybe remove zoning on one side/add a quay wall to really emphasize the terraced nature of it.
i love the addition of public housing, but one thing IRL that can make it a challenging environment is the isolation. it really can polarize different socioeconomic classes in an area and as another commenter mentioned, public transit access is key. don't get me wrong i love this series, just some thoughts
Absolutely agree, yeah someone else noticed how sequestered it was. In the next video (hopefully this weekend) I'm adding a bus stop and extending a local access bridge on the other side so it's not a giant cul-de-sac
Waiting for new series. Actually the Bark-Bark Pond(aka New Rickman) location would be nice to extend over the hills with more british row housing and duplexes. 👍
I'm absolutely loving this detail work. The demand for high density is one thing to address, but an idea I had was maybe some sort of landmark on top of one of the hills in the "older" downtown - kind of SF adjacent?
I think it might be really cool to make a custom car/truck dealership? Maybe by that industrial corridor if you have any empty space. Since they take up a lot of space irl it would probably be a good way to make the area seem more lively
i like that idea, it is something that every city has but isnt well represented in CSII. a custom one would be pretty cool, especially if you had a couple to a few competing dealerships. you could also add a commercial fleet lot with trucks and vans.
9:55 it seems like you could extend the road over the freeway & train tracks with a bridge, while turning the arterial curve into a T- or + intersection. there don’t really seem to be any arterial roads extending away from the city in that direction as it is completely cut off by the freeway/tracks, so adding an overpass would help the realism factor. aside from that, a new right of way would prepare the area for further suburbanization and make it much more simple to add an on ramp to the freeway bridge over the river.
Just going to say that leaving such a huge development (Little Ortizia) as a cul de sac won't be a good idea traffic wise, especially as more residents move in. It works ok with low residential as there are far fewer people (and cars!) moving in and out of it, but if there is a high density development with several hundred people a dead end will usually cause a lot of problems when all cars have to enter and exit from the same intersection. Otherwise, excellent episode!
@ on that note, extending the tram line along primrose street would also be a very good idea to serve the community around the area, or even better, creating a tram loop by extending the line from Gruber heights along primrose to connect up with the older line that goes past the college area
I literally found your channel today , Im really suprised on the quality of your videos while taking look at your number of subscribers !! I honestly thought that you had millions but to my suprise not! If you keep working hard you ll get there one day!
Ha after uploading this, I noticed a bug where the plopped vehicle props were somehow stopping traffic on the adjacent road. So I replaced them with parts potties 🙂
I had the same thing with homelessness happen to me, except I had 25k homeless people despite having lots of room in every housing category It also ate up all my demand, so the only thing that worked for me was the bye-bye-homeless mod unfortunately
@@SkilzBuildz should be, it's worked for me so far. Info Loom still tells me I have 1.5k homeless, but that's like 1/20th of the amount without the mod
you need to use only low income housing to really fight homeless problem. Also I how you will be trying to add real shops in the grand central station and also putting the highway under ground
I just found your channel and I have to say... You made me delete my old save game... my city compared to yours is a landfill. I am ashamed of myself, please forgive me master.
Nooo! I thought my early cities looked like trash too, honestly half the reason I do these videos is because it forces me to take my time and be thoughtful about what I build. Def makes a difference
In my city they just built a new highway that has the same problem as the highway from the beginning; Instead of connecting directly to the other highway, it swoops North for no apparent reason. And like?? Why?? Apparently our city planners need to watch your videos more often!!
how can I activate trendings? I mean, the numbers red and green next to population and money numbers? Im trying to activate it but I cant. Btw great video!
Call it Lil' Ortygia That's an old Greek island in Syracuse Sicily that's now effectively a super cool peninsula. Its so old the history is mythology. And there is a Pond. With a park. Its actually a spring but they call it a fountain. People talk about it it books. Like Mythology books and Milton and Moby Dick. So nobody will know why you spelled Ortizia Wrong.

I found your chanel about 2 months ago and since than you have absolutely grown into one of my favorite Cities 2 creators!
Dang thanks for saying that!! Glad you're enjoying it ☺️
Same for me!
exact same here !!
The lake and basketball park is genuinely one of the best parks I’ve seen made in this game. Idk why I love it so much, maybe it’s the simplicity and detail.
just finished binging the rest of the series last night, perfect timing! love the videos man
Wow the whole thing?? Thanks for watching!
@@SkilzBuildz over about 3 days yes lol
I just binged as well!

Oh yeah that's a good idea! Would probably help reduce traffic flow over the bridge too

100%, one of my first thoughts after posting was "why didn't I extend the bus route across the bridge to Little Ortizia?" haha

Ah like CPP's "City Tour" at the end? That's a good idea!
I binged this whole series the other night glad to see another episode 🎉🎉

An arterial is usually a large road designed to carry traffic. A local road is usually a smaller road designed for light traffic and residential zoning. A collector is usually a smaller to medium road that connects the two and often has mixed zoning types.
So could a highway technically be considered an arterial? For some reason I thought they were a class above them
@@SkilzBuildz highway is above arterial in the hirarchy. Most of the time arterials are the roads leading into highways
You could turn the green patch in the middle into a hill, making it a natural geographic obstacle. This would explain the oddly shaped empty space downtown. While making it a park is an option, the shape might not suit that purpose as well.

Bark Bark Pond is officially canon haha
@skilzthatkilz11 now it's history, how whole location become know for just a pond and dog park 🤣
Bro provide extreme level satisfaction with City Skyline video.
In the new area up the hill, some foot paths down apart from the main road would be nice, especially in the curves.
I'm absolutely loving this detail work. The demand for high density is one thing to address, but an idea I had was maybe some sort of landmark on top of one of the hills in the "older" downtown - kind of SF adjacent?

Inspiring. Thx
A tram Line would be great and add to the land value
To little Ortizia or new Rickman overall? Was thinking Little Ortizia could at least get a bus route
When first person view available.? Will be amazing walkthrough video to entire district..
Gah yes I keep meaning to do this! Could probably make a YT short out of it
In the DEV MODE, you can disable HOMELESSNESS in the Simulation tab.

For some reason the music link in the description for the song Never Play by Jeremy Blake is broken. It links to a weird Vietnamese song.
Weird, that's from YT's own music library so they auto inserted the credit

Atleast it's realistic. Isolate the marginalized minorities, don't forget to put them next to a highway or industrial areas.
Has a bit of a vibe of the 1960s (European) building sins... realistic, but we learned from it.
Why shud we care about the poor
I definitely would not want poors living in my neighborhood. Always up to no good
I believe the mechanics of the game make land value been low obviously make houses cheaper. Also, it’s sad realism.
You are in my soup
...I'll take that as a compliment haha
