Hi Mike, awesome video, keep me coming. I think so where either in this video or one of your others you mentioned a Marvin Gaye vinyl album that sounded amazing with the track "Sexual Healing", which album were you referring to and do you have it for sale online at your store? Also how does The Cars self titled vinyl album sound? And lastly do you know if Chicago has a greatest hits album on vinyl of their earlier songs? (I know about their 80s greatest hits album but looking for one from their earlier stuff on vinyl). Thanks again for all the great videos
Great video and very good recommendations. Could you please confirm which pressing of Harvest is the one you showed us there? I don't seem able to find any recent vinyl pressing of this album. The latest one listed in Discogs is from 2009. Thanks in advance!
Ironically,I use Donald Fagan's "The Nightfly" as my Go-To Demo album as it was one of the first Lp's to be recorded Digitally it has a very Clean Sound....
I grew up with vinyl; Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, ELP, Bowie, and I do have three of those listed, including an original 'Transformer'. But, when I heard the first UK demo CD disc issued to Hi-fi shops (there were no albums released on CD at the time) in the early/mid '80s I was knocked sideways by the sound. No crackles, hiss, pops, just pure sound. The first track I heard in the shop was Roxy Music's 'Avalon' and I was open mouthed all through it with the headphones on. I haven't had my turntable set up in a long while. It's overdue a run out and time I had a dig around in my boxes of LPs.

Both Blind Melon lp's that AP put out are amazing. For the Lynyrd Skynyrd Lp I prefer the MOFi version over the one you show in the video but I don't know if it's still in print. Great video BTW
It took me about 6 months of digging and searching for Depeche Mode - Violator. Ended up buying it on Discogs from a former radio guy. Copy was OG US pressing which pristine and turned out to be a gold stamped promo.
Hi! I'm into analogue, deep. But I have a interesting question to share. It"s about raven recording, I know, digital only. The album "Totem" Gabrellie Roth and the mirrors,is the any possibility to get it on vinyl? Tsk.
Hi great review. I totally agree the Dire Straits albums sound amazing. Quiet vinyl and excellent dynamic range. Why can't other artists take pride in their works and produce the same quality ie 2016 remaster of the wall sounds compressed. Is it to do with the Loudness War?
i think it does have to do with the loudness war. MOFI does take alot of care with their vinyl and sacd releases and you can see that with the Dire Staits release. Even the SACD equivalent of the vinyl release of Dire Straits sounds bloody amazing. No compression whatsoever compared to the other remasters that have been around. If you want the best digital version of those albums go for the Mofi SACD. if you want the best analog for for the Mofi vinyl for the dire straits. They are just that good.
All analog my ass, audiophiles officially became audiofools. It's not about quality for them, it's about price, because when it comes to understanding of analog and digital technologies they have none of both. Last argument for audiophile is money and price, nothing else. Digital was never the enemy and in fact superior way of recording or mastering music. If you have well recorder, mixed and mastered recording it will blow vinyl record away by million miles. However listening to LP is pleasant experience no doubt, but from technical standpoint LP is vastly inferior to CD. So when MoFi admitted they used DSD, I was laughing my ass off. I love all formats, but you have to be aware of technical stuff and audiophiles fail at that every time.

In Europe the only vinyl you can get in stores or webshops is digitally sourced vinyl made in EU. Impossible to find any american analog made vinyl, but you can buy japanese CD`s. Maybe it is logical because of economical reasons.
Despite me being a lover of the sound from records, i can't help but feel like the industry and all the music stores are milking the "resurrection" of records for every penny they can get, when i see records selling for 50$ while a CD sells for 10$ .. That's why i try to buy from known stores that sells 2nd hand with high quality, each record sells for 10$ unless it's a special dubble album like Pink Floyd - The Wall, which goes for 25$ .
Oh I totally agree 100%. It’s all a bunch of hipsters supporting a bunch of profiteers under the guise of coolness and fidelity. I’m 50years old and have been collecting 40 years.. I’ve rarely paid more than $10 for an album in my life, and I have thousands in mint condition all original pressings? And I keep finding them daily. I Robot by Alan Parsons which he is talking about here is a great album and is also a dime a dozen . Anyone who pays these prices for vinyl is not only a sucker but is totally nuts, what a waste of cash. $125 for an album, get out of here man. I also support a local vintage store here in Vancouver and I’ll never buy these lame re pressed trendy albums. Oh and I have an original mint near perfect copy of Marvin Gayes Whats going on that I just scored for $5. if You want to have fun collecting records then search out the vintage stuff.
First they phased out albums, so you had to buy cds.Told us how much better they sounded and how and easy to use. And dont forget how much they charged for cds when they first hit the market. And now were going thr the same thing in reverse. The record companies will continue to do this until we learn to tell them to go F&*K themselves.I cant believe the prices some people pay for albums. There is always a better sounding version right around the corner. The i see people showing 4-5 versions in their collection.Im glad im a music lover and not an album lover.
marion roller I’ve posted on this video before. You’re right it’s a trendy hipster scam with the prices and the quality. I get such a such a kick out of these guys that are trying to sell worthless crap at $100 a pop...and the records are not even originals. I’m 52 and have been collecting for 40 years. I have thousands of mint condition original first pressings that I have founds for next to nothing. And I’m talking about artists and titles that are sought after. There is so much out there it’s crazy, all a person has to do is put a little effort into the hunt and they will be rewarded. You’re right as well when it come to cds...the companies ripped everyone offf back in the day...$25 compact discs...I find that stuff as well now for pennies in perfect condition.
@@billydow9798 Big scam like bubble gum cards became priceless until the bubble bursts 64 and have hundreds or original pressings in great shape always took care of them turn tables and amps got for peanuts nobody wanted them I was happy to pay pennies on the dollar for them snobby buyers trying to justify crazy prices
Dire Straits brothers in arms. Supertramp breakfast in america Ratt invasion of your privacy Steely Dan Aja Beatles Abbey Road Chili Peppers Stadium Arcadium Amazingly 1st pressing original recorded records.
I find he prices of these records absolutely ridiculous, When I was buying records in theUK in the early 70's you got great sounding lPs for a fair price Zeppelin Floyd Yes Purple and so on, now its seems for quality you have to pay inflated prices, Thing is Steven Wilson's remixes on Blu ray sound fantastic for a fraction of the price, his version of Fragile by Yes is outstanding as are all the other Yes catalog. It seems with Vinyl record companies and stores are selling overpriced records with fairy dust sprinkled on them. A good example is Rumours by FM a great sounding record, the DVDA version is much better than the vinyl. I love Vinyl grew up with it, but please don't be conned into spending a crazy amount of money on them. CD Blue Ray DVDA SACD can offer good alternatives
When saw that cranberries album ( saw them as support to Belly ; no one was impressed then - my friend even covered their ears ; I was concerned my ber glass would shatter) & then read your comment reminds me of the saying ,' you can't make chicken soup out of chicken s£€t' .
I dont particularly like some of the one steps such as Fragile. I prefer the Kevin Gray, Hoffman and Grundman masterings over them most of the time when available.
I'm a big Reel to Reel guy and have many tapes from the Tape Project Ect. The One Steps have a sound profile the is closest to a 15 IPS tape that I've ever heard. Very dynamic, very hot and deep bass.
@@TheInGroove The other guys utilize all the dynamics as well in most cases. Ive heard tapes myself and MFSL simply EQs too low a lot of the time, giving that extra bass but slightly muffling other performances. Sometimes the tape is poorly done to begin with however and it needs an EQ adjust as well, not uncommon. So because it sounds close to it doesnt necessarily mean its the most realistic it can be.
Only good I would imagine if you own some outstanding and very expensive equipment to play them on. If you own budget or mid range equipment is there really any point?
I've seen Dire Straits' ( & Steely Dan's too(?) ) albums get consistently good results in dr.database. Does anyone know if the group had control over how their records were always mastered ( like Mr Young)to a high standard, or was it just 'luck' overseen by the A&R? I read that ' Transformer' is considered by some (who?) experts to be badly produced. Cheers.
In the case of Dire Straits, I think Mark Knopfler is a bit of an audiophile. Explains also why he has a very clean, low distortion guitar tone in his music. Even his digital releases through MFSL are just top notch. I'm not sure about Steely Dan but its plausible its the same case.

Its Pop. In my store Rock and Pop is in the same bin.
You are wrong, there is a pop before rock that is traditional pop that is associated with jazz and there comes dean martín,perry como, sinatra, etc no related rock and moderna pop
@@brianrocks2087 I think not. Pop is short for Popular Music. That could be Dean Martin or Britney Spears.
Let’s argue about something petty
@@TheInGroove Agree Pop is short for popular. I think what a lot of people call Rock is Pop while Punk is Rock.
Sadly most of these are now out of print and sold out of your store :(
I wish you had a store in the Bay Area.
Whats your shipping to the UK 🇬🇧
Dire Straits brothers in arms.
Supertramp breakfast in america
Ratt invasion of your privacy
Steely Dan Aja
Beatles Abbey Road
Chili Peppers Stadium Arcadium
Amazingly 1st pressing original recorded records.
And Crime of the Century by Supertramp
@Leon Fragile is one of the BEST sounding One Steps in the catalog. Sorry about your crap stereo….
@@keeferdog5617 Its probably better than yours, but Im sorry about your crap ears ;^)
great,,pls make new rocords review,,i just love that,,
I'm think many will get done in the very near future.
I would not have pegged you as a Depeche Mode fan.
What about Prince plectrum electrum and Art Official Age albums from 2014.....
those Dire Straits Lps sound great on the original presses for a lot cheaper.
Original pressing of self titled album is much better than mofi
@@andrewm1894 I do not doubt it.
I know nothing about these .45 versions. Why are they so expensive? 50+ for that Skynyrd?
ELVIS PRESLEY is my FAVORITE :) +++
