    I cried when Ron finally told Leslie why he held a grudge against her. For him to walk up to her and be ready to ask for a job, in federal government, represented such a humbling moment for him, such an honest assessment of the situation that he was, such a sincere attempt to receive help and be close to the people he loved. He was ready and able to let go of his whole code of conduct just to be near those he cared about. Hell, i'm crying now again.

      It was a testament to Ron's growth as a character and the effect that Leslie has on people. Leslie represents everything he hates about bureaucracy, but they care so much for each other that he was willing to set his principles aside, just to be part of the team again! That from Ron is a huge step! I also love how he said "You took April away from me!" That must have really hurt, April and Ron understand each other in a way that I don't think even Andy or Dianne, or even Leslie could! They belong together!

      @@Rudromukherjeenerv They had a father daughter relationship. She was the daughter he never had, and I was a bit disappointed the show did not explore that more.

    The montage of Leslie and Ron cleaning up the office with Willie Nelson playing over it is equal parts funny, sad and touching. Y'know, as shows and movies over the years have shown, it's actually kind of hard to do a truly close friendship between a man and woman without it becoming romantic. This is one case where it was done, and done very well.

    • @KaregoAt

      It's not hard to do. Writers just don't write them.

    • @revsynzac254
      @revsynzac254 4 года назад +11

      @@KaregoAt nah... Its actually kinda hard. Atleast for me. And I've genuinely tried that but after a certain time you just get too invested in your own characters and then you end up writing something totally different from what the plan was for.

    • @KaregoAt
      @KaregoAt 4 года назад +7

      @@revsynzac254 I mean, if you don't commit to the original plan then sure, but if it feels better to take the story to another direction then I don't think you actually failed? You just though you were writing something different until it took complete shape in your mind. I think the line between friends/a couple is just how and in what ways the people are compatible. Ben and Leslie are compatible in a very different way than Ron and Leslie are. Ron and Leslie's similarities make their friendship work but they would never have chemistry as a couple. Leslie is too nonsensical and ambitious for Ron and Ron too pragmatic and down-to-earth for Leslie, and that's fine and complimentary in a friendship. Writing an M/F friendship is no different to writing an M/M or F/F friendship. Character chemistry that works as a friendship but not as a couple. Though many writers can only write either good couple chemistry or nothing at all, who then write their friendships with that and then you end up with guys or girls that have better chemistry with their best friends than their significant others :D

    • @revsynzac254
      @revsynzac254 4 года назад +3

      @@KaregoAt I do agree with part of what you said... I have 2 and a half stories ryt now and two of them were supposed to have this friendship thing but I think it has a lot to do with just my thinking but i end up being a lot more invested in my own characters and when that happens the dynamic automatically starts to change in a way that they end up as couples or close to that which wasn't the plan initially but i was so satisfied with the end product i just let that be.
      I might be one of those writers you mention in the later part of your comment i guess

    • @revsynzac254
      @revsynzac254 4 года назад +2

      Now if only the folks who dig thru everyone's online history to find stuff they did 20 some odd years ago in an effort to ruin their lives, and who are incapable of even being in the same room as others who might not agree with every.single.thing they believe would adopt a similar attitude, maybe the world would return to being the fun place it used to be.
      Sadly, I genuinely believe they're incapable of the 'tolerance' they constantly demand on behalf of others they're convinced aren't competent enough to defend themselves.
      And maybe they're just sad, lonely, childless, empty people angry at everything because their college degrees turned out to be useless in the real world, but they're still expected to pay for them. And maybe they really hate law enforcement because it prevents them from robbing banks and they have to settle for looting stores and destroying their own neighborhoods instead?
      I dunno these blue haired fools make no sense to me. 🤗

    Despite all of Ron's quirks, and his dislike for emotional conversations, the relationship between him and Leslie is something totally pure - respect. He sees how compassionate, driven and honest Leslie is, and neither would hesitate in having the other's back if necessary. The mutual admiration is endearing, and never turning it romantic or sexual was a great call.

    I always did love Leslie and Ron’s relationship where they are two people who the exact opposite of each other, but still become best friends anyway. I am so glad that the show never tried to make their relationship into something more like many tv shows have done in the past.

    Normally a simple misunderstanding can drive the whole third act of a movie. They made it the entire episode. Sure there’s some mystery as why this feud is happening. On paper it seems like it could be about anything because they are opposite of each other in many ways. When you find out what it’s really about, it’s simple. It’s also beautiful and heartwarming, and makes you want to talk to your old friends. The writing on this show is amazing.
