My son got me this for Christmas. I'm keeping it because he gave it to me. He thought it looked unique, which it does, and he knows i like knives. For those reasons, it's one of my favorite things.
i have mine for 3 years now. Once you smooth the opening action its really satisfying. You did not buy this knife for steel, best value for money or because you need one. You bought it because it triggers something in you and you just must have it. such a cool design. and quality is appropriate to the price.
I would share a picture of my Gerber Quadrant, it's pretty beat up, most of the bluing worn off, wood looks like it's been gripped about 1,000 times (which it has), but it's actually the best utility knife I've ever owned. And trust me, I have owned hundreds of knives. The action of opening the knife, like all folding blades, gets better with use. Like all Gerber blades it dulls very quickly, but the posative side is that it also sharpens very quickly. I keep a 400/1,000 grit stone and leather strop in my bedroom. I'm not going to lie, I was raised on a farm in the US and I like big, sharp, heavy, pointy knives to use as tools to do a certain job. This tiny little wedge/cleaver knife is one of the best knives that I've ever owned.
I have never owned a special knife, and thought recently I needed one. Could've been influenced by some character in a movie. When I saw this knife, as a bamboo fan I was immediately attracted and so bought it. Before I used it however, I researched what a knife like this was used for, and as a basic utility knife it rang true (I don't want to stab anybody). Your account has inspired confidence. This Gerber range looks impressive.
Man thank you. I've used this for years as well. I got mine at a store in the mall on a whim because it looked nice. But I'm a carpenter and it's replaced my old box cutter. Where should I get the sharpener you use / that's been the only downside for me but I love this knife.
Dollar value is key here. I like the knife for the money. As far as being able to open it, flicking your wrist whilst flipping the toggle allowed me to open it easily. I own many Gerber products and find them reliable and durable for the price point.
Yeah, those knives are tight straight out of the package. I put 2 pennies under the thumb lock & gave it a little twist with plyers. That freed it up a lot. Oiling helps. I put mine on an Arkansas stone & made it into a straight razor. If the washers are too tight, the screw size is T-8.
Thank you for this review! I was on the fence and thinking about buying this today from Amazon. Now I am reconsidering. Very informative. Keep up the excellent work!!!🔪🖤🗡
RVWD - Reviews it all actually, I am going to order it tonight from Amazon so I will get it by tomorrow. I will let you know what I think. Thank you for getting back to me.🔪🖤🗡
I bought one today and first off it didnt flip out it did the same as what you said but in my opinion it with just a little flick of the wrist it works great 1 handed and it feels like a good solid knife I am happy with my purchase
I purchased one as a work utensil (for opening boxes and that kind of thing). I have to admit that this knife is not anywhere close to EDC by any means, but in saying that, I have been using mine for the last 2 months for the previous mentioned purposes and it has been great. PS: these do loosen up after a while, but even then require a snap of the wrist to deploy them. But out of the box, they are a stubborn thing to get working.
i just got mine and its one of the best knives ive owned as other people said the flicking action is smooth when you smooth it also its surprisingly sharp
The knife is excellent. Do not send it back. The bent metal that holds the knife open is too bent (for security reason). Just straiten it a tiny bit. Fine tuning is fun. The blade is worth it.
I picked up my Quadrant for my job - I worked for a school taking care of technology among other things. I needed a knife, which I had plenty of, but they were all a little much for a school setting; not to mention I didn’t need a heavy duty knife for the job. Saw the Quadrant and thought it would be perfect for the situation. Small, low profile carry, non-imposing blade, and classy looking to boot. The blade cuts. And it wasn’t expensive (I think I got mine for 25 bucks?) Smooth opening, but my lock gets stuck sometimes. Have to take two hands to get it to close safely. It’s a pretty knife, and it will function, but it’s not for heavy duty- hell, medium duty might be pushing it for this little guy. But I’ve bought worse knives for the same price if not more.
Good review, thank you. I just ordered one before watching this, although I've seen reviews go both ways. I'm hoping I have a better experience than you. Also, new sub here. Keep up the great work!
I just bought one, and it does look cool. The blade appears functional, and the first thing I did was cut some bread and a tomato. So it's functional! - which is what I wanted. I saw another clip and the presenter opened it with a flick, as you like it. Maybe you need to practise.
Sorry if this sounds dumb, just looked up a review bc I need a new pocket knife, would it work to loosen the screw retaining the blade something like a 1/4 turn to reduce the stiffness of the open or is it just better to wear it in over time?
I have this knife. Looks awesome. For a one night stand it's great. By the next morning it looks ugly when the sun comes up. This knife in review is not a one off. It is cheap. All of them are crap. But it still looks cool at a distance.
bought the white one personally and love it so far its perfect for what i need and its a damn good looking knife, and sharp enough to shave my arm clean with right out of the box. A dab of 3in 1 oil on the action smoothed it out nicely, sorry you got a bad one. Maybe dont paint a company with such a wide brush?
My favorite edc fits in the tiny tint pockets of jeans even. But its just sleek, slides open so quick. And easy to hold/swipe. I'll open and slice bushes sometimes and always cut a tuft off.
Tiny jean pockets? Did you buy women's jeans by chance as that is what my wife & daughters always complain about. I've never had an issue with a 3.5" bladed not working well with jeans, khakis or even slacks.
I am very familiar with this knife. Get the white g10 if you want a good classy looking tool not an instrument. The one I just returned and one I have seen in a video the bamboo split near the fastener. Square chunky heavy deep hollow grind blade metal washers even the tab that sticks out from the rest of the frame for the lock. Try a little bit of oil or just flick the wrist as you use the flipper. I have been using collecting buying and selling knives for 40 years I also have severe nerve damage in my right or dominant hand and I have no problem with this knife. If you fuss with the fasteners or the action you will be sorry. watch the other videos specifically mild mannered edc. It is excellent for what it is a smart-looking well designed tool deserving a better manufacturer.
I bought the white g10 and it's in perfect condition. Perfectly centered and the action is fine. It's sharp and feels sturdy. I know consistency is a big issue for Gerber, but I got lucky, I guess.
I think it’s preferred for those moments where you can’t let go of something you need to cut, but still need to deploy a knife. I have a pair of jeans that has a bunch of blade marks on it from me deploying my buck 110 one handed (I push the blade up, then catch the tip with my jeans and gently run the blade up my pants until it locks open) I wouldn’t call it laziness, it’s practical.
Made in china…cheap blade cheap design. I’m good off this one but good video. Though gerber does have better knives out there. You get what you paid at for though

It’s a bad knife though huh only asking cuz I want to buy one but even the one in this video looks a lil scuffed

GERBER KNIFE
Sadly like 20 other brands do it better then modern Gerber knifes

Thanks Virginia! Happy to hear you like the knife👍🏻
What kind of oil do you use? I use air tool oil. It doesn’t work very well.

Their slogan should be: "Cool design, bad execution" (Gerber).

The bamboo on mine has way more imperfections than yours lol. After a couple months of use, mine is pretty wobbly. I still edc it.
Use it and it'll loosen up. Mine was fine after half a day's use👍
Got one today, wasn’t too happy with it so gave it to my buddy cause he liked it lol
That’s always good 👍🏻
@@KnivesEDC I also got an smith and Wesson M&P sear, now that knife is pretty bad ass for around the same price, few dollars more
@@DownHillgamer Thanks a lot, I will check it out 👍🏻
Give it time to break in because it's my everyday carry and I open one handed and have no complaints
Mine was a little sticky when I got it too.
I put a drop of gun oil on it, loosened right up for one handed opening.

I know this is late, but break the knife in or use some oil. Don’t loosen the screws.

Yeah, just your hand sweat will remove the bluing on the edges only after a few days. If you have some gun bluing, it'll blue back.

1:53 it's a thing with gerber knives, if you use them, it's the only way to make them easy to open with the flick of your wrist
I bought one it takes a little practice but I got the fliper down
Nice knife for electrical work. Designed and engineered in Oregon. If only it were made there (my only complaint).
Just curious... What country are you located in?
I’m from the Netherlands, why? I’m curious as well 😃
i had same opening issue just loose top but easy solution 🤩
I just got this knife, as part of the barbill wallet combo...it is more difficult to close than I thought it would be...overall I like it though
I’m with ya. Mine opened beautifully right out of the box, but the lock often sticks making it difficult to close one handed.
What is the price
Get a #8 torque and play with the pivot
The flipper doesn't really flip but I am pretty happy with the knife because of the overall look.
Use your knife it will break in
i know it’s been a while i had the same issue tho , just pry her open a little and she works great
Are are sure that's not a counterfeit one. They have loads of brand name fake knives on DH Gate and Ebay.
Yeah, I thought these things came in blister packs, not boxes.

So Gerber is not a good manufacturer? Who do you recommend?
If you flick your wrist as you open it in one motion you should be able to fully open it
dude just loosen the blade a little bit and it will flip out like you want it to it's not like they're going to put it to your exact specs
Thanks for the comment
Just got one . It’s nice and small , nice in the pocket. Also feels cheap as shit
This with a tanto would be so nice
I like mine. It’s just a simple finger flipper I will not go all the way.
frist copy ?
Gerber, no gölyböly!
Looks like a old school barbers razer
Tiger25NYC Brooklyn especially their other knife the Julebox, if you like that look you can check it out! Thx for your comment 🙏🏻
Is clear that this knives are more focused for collection than for edc...
Maybe they are, Gerber are you reading this ?! 🤔
dude all you do is looosen it a lil.. lol
I never understood the people that want to flick their knife open when did we become so lazy?
🤣 for me it’s like a Zippo or DuPont lighter, the sound… 🤤

Nice looking knife but the blade is poor quality. Still, you can get a nice edge but it isnt durable and needs constant work. For soft cutting only.
I boight mine on 5/22. And I was dissapointed also. I bought it for 45.00 US dollars. Garbage. Should be half the price. Save your money.
Can’t believe you didn’t try to cut anything on a knife review video 🤣🤯
You’re right, will do it the next time 👍🏻
i can open mine with one hand...
Erwin Maes cool, thanks for the feedback 👍🏻

Buy the boker plus pancheneko copper
I would not even waste my money buying one of those types of knives and definitely not one from China.
