I disagree about the only releasing popular Pokemon thing. Trevenant and Falinks in particular have been great. Greedent as well. Really interesting playstyles.

I will say Unite made me a Fan of 2 mons that were very unpopular in the main series game and Tcg. Greedent and Dodrio were 2 Pokemon who got no love before Unite. But on the other end, I’m still not a fan of crams character design, but can admit he’s so strong in game.
Greedent is popular with Japanese tho, I think he has a lot of fanart on pixiv
Watching one of Cris' Flame Charge/Mystical Fire vid gives me the same dopamine boost as watching Overlord's plays during the first World Championship... 😁❤🔥

I miss the original sky ruins map where you could get delphox on first jungle rotation

Delphox can be an amazing carry with Flame Charge, there's no shame in being carried by one
RE: The thing about choosing popular mons
This is anecdotal, but I’ve felt that Pokémon fans would rather have unique and underrepresented Pokémon show up in this game. It’s mainly because other side content (Pokken, Smash, the anime, merchandise) choose these popular mons all the time, while Unite can have the opportunity to see other representation, like Cramorant and Duraludon for example.
On the moba side, I’m sure they could apply a design concept equally onto a popular mon and a relatively unpopular one - for example, Gengar is be a very popular mon, but it’s identity (blasts of energy, speed, sleep status) could have also been used for a Darkrai concept, for example.
