I would quit for sure! I doubt they will ever change their quality! I quit buying M2's years ago! Too many shabby quality cars! Not worth the high price! They boast numbers on Q&A but how do we know they are true? Just like the so called limited numbers! I have been skeptical for years. Just my opinion so you do whatever you feel you want to do. I am saving money for other hobbies. Thanks for sharing this video!
It’s such a shame to see a high detail brand continue to take steps in the wrong direction in quality control. When you mentioned poor quality control in the past, there usually wasn’t much. All of the m2s I have that are about 2012 and older have super high quality, no issues. It was after that point it’s been more and more messed up models and it’s been getting worse year after year. I just bought the bootlegger 71 charger super bee and was incredibly disappointed that the car didn’t sit flat, spoiler wasn’t attached correctly, and a tire wasn’t molded right. It’s to the point that I rarely pick m2 up even when I like a release or a car
I’ve been buying M2s since they came out in retail stores, and the entire time it’s been very hit or miss on quality. Most of the time there’s something wrong with the castings I want, and it doesn’t seem to be getting any better. There’s almost always a piece loose in the packaging or something is assembled crooked. Nice castings, if they could only get their QC to match.
@@64Wheels for sure. I would get the occasional m2 back when I started collecting at the age of 8. Always was amazed at how real they looked. I still look at them for the chance a hood mopar pops up. I liked the bootlegger 71 charger super bee, but it was riddled with issues
The only M2 product I ever bought was a Mopar branded car carrier with a 1st generation Charger in the same livery. It was overpriced for what it is, but I decided to buy it since I thought the execution was well done. I was disappointed to find so much plastic on these models I payed $17ish for. QC isn't great either (though not nearly as bad as your Camaro's here). After that, I said no more to M2. I've encountered far too many M2 models at Walmarts that literally have loose parts rattling around in the case. Literally the only way I can fathom that people can enjoy this brand is if they keep these cars in the packaging. Once you open these up is when you find all the issues.
Wow I thought I was the only one who experienced this with M2. I bought a Volkswagen beetle lift kit the other day and not only did the bumpers completely brake of when I opened the package, the extra wheels didn't even fit on the axel meaning I only had one pair of wheels that fit when it was supposed to be two. That and they are EXTREMELY fragile but that's to be expected I guess.
The white one is truly terrible. Like it makes me not want to buy M2 anymore bc it’s not the first, or second, or even third time I’ve gotten sub-par product from them.
Excellent review. I always enjoy your enthusiasm .. Clearly your kinder to M2 than most would be ... In my opinion M2 makes the pieces that like minded collectors enjoy and we just put up with the quality issues, but I agree they're getting better.
Thanks! If M2 could improve their quality even more, they could be a real powerhouse in 1/64, but it’s going to take some work to change their reputation of quality. I filmed an unboxing of one of their 1/64 Datsun Z model kits recently and the fit and quality was so bad I couldn’t even finish the build video...so those are on my “no buy list” now. I remember a few years ago, going to Wal-Mart and seriously like 50% of the boxed M2s would have parts floating around in the packages lol. They have definitely improved, but still have a ways to go to say the least, ha.
I've stopped buying M2s at the stores, just hard to find one that isn't messed up in some way. I really like their Daytonas, but just hard to find one that isn't scratched or a piece not put on properly.
Haven’t seen many in premium in recent years. A lot in drivers, but the wings are sometimes crooked and the drivers ones are such an old tool the panel lines don’t show up right
Yeah M2 didn’t do a very good job on these. I’ve bought another one of these castings randomly just to check and see if it would be messed up too, and it was. Not as bad as these but was still visibly cockeyed.
Authenticity at its finest clearly the white one was totaled and rebuilt not well will never drive straight again the blue one had a big dent in the roof just as you may expect from a 30 plus year old car. 🤣😂 All jokes aside that unfortunately was some poor quality control but almost a must buy even if you knew ahead of time because you most likely wouldn’t have another opportunity to purchase this set at retail.
If you send the white Camaro back to M2 and tell them that they messed up, could they send you a replacement one with no defects? It might be worth a shot IDK
They actually issued a press release because of the article and this video, and said they stand behind a 100% satisfaction guarantee, but I believe they will only let you return for a refund....which isn’t much bc Wal-Mart takes returns on them anyways, so that’s not something out of the ordinary.
M2 has the worst fit and finish of all brands in it's price point. Tires never fit right, opening parts never work correctly, lights and bumpers fall off if you sneeze on them. Total garbage for the costs.
In your write up that led me to this video, you asked what we would do in your position. First, I would return it to MallWart, show them what the problem is, explain why this had to come directly out of the factory with these defects, and I would also explain how I am a collector, and these are not just toys for little kids, not when you can get Hot Wheels, or Matchbox die cast models in 1:64 scale for just over a dollar, while some of these "premium" models, even Hot Wheels, have a large range of price, and mention how these models may be at the lower end of that price range, but they are more than just a child's toy when they sell for $7.00 each (or whatever you paid for them), and inform the employee that brand new die cast models in this condition are not acceptable to any collector. I would also take all of my recent receipts to illustrate how much money I spend at their store, and to show them that the large majority of that money is on die cast models. After pointing out all of the issues present with these models, and trying to drill home just how unacceptable this defected product is, not only for collectors, but for anybody wanting to purchase these. Next, if they have any in stock, or if they have another store within twenty miles that has one in stock, I would prefer to just have the defective item replaced by another unit that is not defective. If it is truly not replaceable, then I would have to settle for my money to be refunded to me, but only after I feel as if they had eliminated all by which they could acquire a replacement unit for me. If for some reason the employee isn't helpful, or claims that they can not do anything for me, I would request to speak to a manager (This moved has worked a few times for me when trying to return a defective item, and the initial employee I spoke to had claimed that there was nothing they could do for me, same speech to a manager, and I believe a condensed version even of said speech, and the manager took care of me every time. Just don't be snotty about it, just politely ask to speak to an available manager.). A manager has more power to help you, the customer, out, and sometimes are willing to sidestep whatever corporate policies, and practices, may be in place that block you, the customer, from receiving what you might consider to be fair treatment. However, if for some reason I still can't get the item replaced, nor get my money refunded to me, then their corporate office would receive a letter from me detailing my experience, including the date and time, and which employees with whom I had interacted. However, my next step would be to contact M2, explaining the situation, and how I know for a fact that the models had left their factory in such a pathetic condition, and express how that is not cool on any level, and how this is completely unacceptable. I would also work in my previous quality control issues with their products, trying to remember as much details regarding those incidents as I was capable to provide as detailed description of each incident, concluding that portion by stating that I had almost shun your products completely solely based on quality control. Then, I would slightly butter them up by mentioning when I purchase a model that s in decent condition as they all should be, I am more than happy with the quality of the product, and the price point for the amount of detail involved is well worth it . . . mentioning how when they do their models right, they are a damn fine model, but point out how I have had so many incidences of receiving models in piss-poor condition that I can not believe somebody allowed such drek to leave the factory, the quality is sometimes at a level that would definitely be unacceptable even by the likes of Adventure Force die cast vehicles!!! In addition to that, I would have to mention how I had a RUclips channel, and I would be honest with the number of subscribers I have, and inform them how I was making an unboxing video from this product, and when I got the models detached from the base, and began to see the defects, I had to stop the video to take it all in, and truly absorb it before continuing with the vehicle. Finally, I would mention once again how this will have to be the last straw regarding if I continue to support your company, and purchase your products, and follow that up immediately with how you said, you want to see them succeed as a die cast company, but they will never do that unless they address these quality control issues, and find a way in which to, if not completely stop (which is likely impossible), decrease the frequency/number of defects by a significant percentage. Finally stating, that whether M2 will be worthy of any more of my money would be dependent upon what they ultimately decide to do, or not do, for me. If they treat me well, then okay, I'll still purchase your products, but beg them to please do something about their quality control issues. If they can't do much for me, but it appears they put quite a bit of effort into trying to help me, then they may get some of my money, but I might not inform them of this, and if they should treat me, with my situation regarding their quality control, with any amount of attitude, or if they should give off the air of not giving two $h1ts about me, or my situation, or even their quality control problem. I would close in some clever way while incorporating the fact into the closing that I have no choice in regards to this company with their problems, and discussing why I can no longer give this company any more of my money. Perhaps mentioning that although I would not inform anyone, nor request, or recommend that anyone not to purchase this company's products. I will mention that anybody in my viewing audience who has purchased their products previously with no problems, are likely to have just been fortunate, and lucky thus far, for their defect percentage is rather high, so just be aware of those odds if you decide to give any money to this company. I would include how I am going to take a poll from purchasers of M2 die cast models, and ask that for those who don't mind sharing, to tell me how long you have been purchasing their products, how many of their items/models do you own, how many of those have you removed from their packaging. Next would be defects: How many of the open ones have you spotted with a defect? Of the models never removed from their packaging, how many of those have you spotted a defect on by just merely looking closely through the blister pack? This should provide me with a rough ballpark idea of what kind of numbers we are speaking of here, and might likely confirm, and support, my educated guess as to the percentage of defects that are coming out of the factory, based on my experiences and my viewers experiences. Then, after all is said and done, if both the store, and the manufacturer was unable to help me, and satisfy me as a customer then I would just make a series of videos where I just go ballistic on the company mainly focusing on their quality control issues, and how they were reluctant to help me with the defected product I had purchased of their brand.
I would quit for sure! I doubt they will ever change their quality! I quit buying M2's years ago! Too many shabby quality cars! Not worth the high price! Most M2's are awesome., but quite often the tires don't fit perfectly

M2 is every overpriced. I got a hot wheels iroc and it was way better. For less than 2 bucks.
Wow just looking at the roof of that white one

Same here - their Daytonas are cast well, but the wings and details always seem to be wonky.
Haven’t seen many in premium in recent years. A lot in drivers, but the wings are sometimes crooked and the drivers ones are such an old tool the panel lines don’t show up right
it is weird that the stock version is so weird. it is also weird because it says it is an iroc, but look at it, it is a z28.

@@64Wheels hey, just curious do you have an instagram? I got one and the RED one was cockeyed.

This is my dream car
I have an ‘82 Indy 500 Pace Car Camaro right now - love me some third gens.

Seems like they've sorted a little bit of their quality control issues
They have been going downhill for years. They did make a rebuttal on social media regarding this video and subsequent article though.
I love this chann
Thanks dude - more videos on the way!
I still find Mini GT to be superior
