But further, it also means we truly believe, as did the jews and the 12 disciples, that 'we' are the 'Good guys'; the 'chosen people'. This is the exact same allurement as was in the temptation "Ye shall be as gods"; the seduction of self-exaltation above the common sinner.
Jesus doesn’t come as a destroyer. He always comes as a saviour to save those who have given their allegiance to the Creator. The destroyer is the source of destruction.
