Your art teacher has good taste in Art and is trying to help to open your eyes to non-traditional methods and ways of seeing the world. Treasure your time with this teacher because some haven't ever heard of Andy Goldsworthy or this sort of practice.
Beautiful! Thanks for sharing this. Goldsworthy is a real inspiration. I particularly like his comment about more people viewing his works in the countryside than one might think - locals, farmers, etc. Just because a work of art is not seen by gallery- or museum-goers does not mean it's invisible. Love it.
Agreed, and i feel work like that is better as art. There is often a huge distance between art and the public, it's a mutual distance. Artists make art for their own sake or to be looked at by "artsy" people. And the public often isn't really invited to understand. (I've seen works that where accompanied with 7 full pages of "explanation" that just felt like a collection of fancy words but didn't really explained anything). This leads to the public being frustrated with works and artists, creating a gap that shouldn't be there. I think there should be more artists who take the public seriously and who are not pretending to be more highbrow than they are. I'm trying to be but finding it really difficult to find a place in "the art world".
I adore this guy with such sincerity. I remember watching Rivers and Tides many years ago, and the way that he shaped my life as a musician cannot be overstated. God bless this wonderful man...
I have been a fan of Andy for a few years now. Though I started my Land Art before I had heard about him. It was actually at one of my Land Art Projects that someone dropped by to say how much they loved what I was doing with the Landscape... And that's when he brought up Andy's name. After I was finished working on the project for that day, I got home and googled his name. I have been a fan since, I think 2016 or 2017, can't remember, it's been a long 5 years of doing A LOT of Land Art projects. I am on a couple group pages on Facebook that are dedicated to Andy and his work... so, he has been an influence and an inspiration for me to continue my passion for Land Art, or a I like to add on to that, Natural Land Art. Meaning you don't destroy anything living, but instead work with nature and allow nature to help direct the design for you, working in harmony with the natural forces of the environment. Creativity is the Intelligence of the Soul. :)
I'm here for my Avid class. My teacher is making me take focused notes on Andy Goldsworthy. This video was really cool to see him make a sculpture of a sphere with sticks without the water flow knocking it over.
Watching a guy make a giant pretzel. Best part of school this year.
best part was getting to stay home
Hey anyone else have to watch some videos about this guy for homework

I love how he creates these beautiful pieces that seem to defy gravity and common sense but somehow look so organic, like they had just grown there.
Agreed, it's a confusing feeling...like naturally unnatural, or vice versa.

I am just here for good grades.
What a great little film! What a beautiful mind in the right landscape!

Wonderful. Joy. Thank you. Imagine going for a walk and coming across that.. he he.
When your homework isn’t in 1080p..
More good vibrations amid the landscape-shape, form, colour and sound. Good stuff!
Mark On The Way yes
Man! It must have been really awesome working with Andy, thats just amazing. Nice work :)
the bagpipes in the background are the most distracting thing
I love Andy's work. Many of his pieces are ephemeral and can only be captured with a camera, such as his ice sculptures.
