Just an FYI- The Na miata runs what is called a "wasted spark" ignition system. Cylinders 2 & 3 share a coil, and 1 & 4 share a coil. They can be swapped in sequence as long as they are on the correct coil, as the coil fires both cylinders at the same time. Having cyl. 2 & 3 plug wires swapped makes no effect.
Interesting! The new plugs and some other minor things made it run much better!

That's how I got my Miata! It was sitting in a field for a year and a half and the inside was just so very dirty and wet. We're still in the process of cleaning and fixing it, but it looks so much better than when it was in the field

Great job on restoration. What are you using to protect th roof of UV light, especially the area of inside when the roof is down?
Thank you! There’s a special cover that goes covers the top when it’s down. I believe it comes with the car from the factory. This roof was a cloth material instead of a vinyl, so I didn’t end up using any UV blocking products on it.
Nice job! I got a 95 R-Package for 1500, but it was stuck in reverse and the drivers seat is shot. Your seats look perfect! I may follow your detail lead!

I like how youre using products that you can find at your local Walmart like the turtle wax. usually when you see detailing vids on RUclips, you always find them advertising some 200$ bottle of cleaner and you can only order them online. good vid!

Good job on the interior. The only other thing you could have done is remove the center console to easily clean the console plus carpet underneath. While it was off you could also check the condition of the shifter boot and change the gear oil in the shifter sump.

I got the passenger seat out no problem. The problem is the driver seat doesn’t move very far forward making it very difficult to get the two rear seat bolts loose/removed in that much tighter space. Sid you have similar difficulty, and what did you do/use?
Yes not much space there. Probably try an extension on a regular ratchet

They're mostly half a rusted chassis of a 90's honda civic, some of the original engine components, and a few painted body panels on the side of the road.

I'm good with interior detailing, did so after my Charger was flooded in my driveway, creek overflowed so there was sand all in it and I had it looking brand new and the smell was gone as well, not so good with exterior though, always afraid I'll screw up the paint
Wow great work! For the exterior, if you follow some simple rules and use a Dual Action polisher, it’s very easy to get great results - even for a beginner!
Same here. No one has detailed my interior to my standards so I started doing it and love it. I pay people to do the exterior, but think I'll try it. Great video!

I'd cover the battery/alternator and opt to do a low pressure rinse or steam cleaning instead of pressure washing. Cheers!
What air cleaner do you use?
Like air fresheners? Checkout Meguiar's Air Refresher or similar after doing a deep clean.
Hey man nice work a good tip save the wheels for last so any dirty water from washing the body doesn't ruin your wheels you just cleaned

I like to do the wheels first usually so the car doesn’t dry off and get water spots.
@@DmDetails fair enough, I normally just keep wetting the car so it doesnt dry and then dry it with a drying towel for no watermarks

Some people have said it does not matter. I’m not sure but either way putting in new plugs did a lot of good for this sad engine

As far as the pad, I’m using a meguiars microfiber cutting disc. They’re fantastic!
How is this 1200? There is no rust :/
It was barley running (maybe on 3 cylinders), turned out to be because of plugs. Also sea-foam treatment made it run lot better
Also there’s almost no rust on cars here in the PNW 😝

your vacuum works about as well as mine ( that is not very well)
I like how the vacuum performed, it’s quite strong.
Any remaining dirt would need to be extracted with multiple passes.
@@DmDetails I stand corrected. For me I went all the way and gave up on the vaccum and replaced the whole carpet and underlay. It was moldy.

The drill brush I use is pretty soft. The carpet was all but ruined at the start 🤙

Finding an na in that condition for 1200 was lucky. The na's are becoming more and more rare and expensive. I'm just glad I have me one. It's a 1990 1.6 that's been garaged nearly all its life.
It sure was a great deal, and this was purchased pre-Covid. I’d be hard pressed to find one like this for less than 2,500 now. Enjoy yours!

Living in south flordia so many people are into them so the clean ones sell almost instantly
this is a really similar story with my Miata: mine was WAY more filthier with old wrappers plastics bottlecaps and so much more literall trash everywhere i looked inside the car.
also the rear window zipper was broken of and the car has been seeing alot of water for about a month making the interior and the seats even more disgusting. The bumper and wheels arch on the left have a really big dent which i still have to fix. but for now i have a clean pretty sealed miata which i daily drive. its completly stock except the radio and i just love to drive around in it :)
i could also upload some pictures to my homeserver later and link them here of the cars original state.
BTW i only payed 350€ ;)
but had to put another 1.5k worth of rust repair on the wheel arches (typical stuff, wasnt to bad tho) breaks, Inspection and some other bits and pieces.
2nd gear is a bit grindy at some times but else it shifts and drives nicely and i gonna love driving it the first time in summer this year. Got it in winter last year.
