At the time the song was at #14 on Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; two weeks later it would peak at #11 {for 3 weeks} and it spent 18 weeks on the Top 100...
It reached #5 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart...
Between 1960 and 1982 he had eleven records on the Hot Top 100 chart; five made the Top 10 with one reaching #1, "Quarter of Three" for two weeks on June 26th,1961...
His four other Top 10 records were "New Orleans" {#6 in 1960}, "School Is Out" {#5 in 1961}, "Dear Lady Twist" {#9 in 1962}, and "Twist, Twist Senora" {#9 in 1962}...
* On the day of this appearance on 'Bandstand', Mr. Bonds, born Gary Anderson, was celebrating his 42nd birthday, he was born on June 6th, 1939 in Jacksonville, Florida...
Was just reminded of this song by a friend. The song, singing, playing and production, 10/10 and Gary can still bring the heat. I hope he got paid;) Also, Max is a master of slowing down the tempo just enough to make it sound good in a stadium but somehow still make it swing. Not easy, especially with a 10-20 piece band.
