- Welcome to a super special video where I take you round the neighbourhood I've called home for a semester -- Haebangchon or HBC in Seoul, South Korea! ✨ HBC is in Yongsan-gu at the base of the iconic Namsan Tower and I love it so much. It's not grand or fancy. There are no skyscrapers and it's not very accessible. But it's SUCH a magical little area. From the views, to the greenery, to the lovely cafes, I hope you enjoy exploring with me! 🥰

Okay but this video feels so special...? 🥺 I remember feeling SO overwhelmed when I first moved to this area, so the fact that I can now confidently navigate it and even find beauty in all its little things makes me so happy. I love knowing local shopkeepers and practising my Korean! I love jogging familiar trails in Namsan Park! Well my place is really quite one, except for when late night parties going on in my neighbours😂
We have a river in my city and in the summer, everybody swims in the river. Everybody has a special waterproof bag, and they are all out of different colors. So the river just has so many different points in the summer ahhh😍 I can‘t really describe it well, but I‘m from basel in Switzerland ❤️❤️

I LOVE the notion of "exploring in-depth" vs trying to tick all the boxes off the conventional bucket lists; you learn to appreciate more when you focus rather than when you try to do everything. So many great lessons tied into this tour.

In my village there are a lot of fields, and we have a lot of tourists who come in the summer which can make the area a bit crowded. But there's a place which no one knows about. My Nana showed it to me when I was little and called it 'the secret garden'. If you walk through this hedge you come to a clearing which is impossible to see from the outside. In this clearing there is this massive, old apple tree and in the spring there are so many blossoms, I remember we used to go there to pick apples for her crumble and it always made me feel like I was a part of this big secret, it is so gorgeous, definitely my favourite thing about where I live.

This brought back memories of the feeling I had when studying abroad in Lisbon. You try to make the most of it, walk and explore. I can vividly remember my favorite places and routes. I have now lived in the same place for 1.5 years, in my home town, but a rental, so I remind myself that this too will end and I need to enjoy my neighborhood to the fullest and not take it for granted.
And Warrior Cats was my childhood as well, I squeeled loudly at that, haha

11:50 well. it’s nowhere near as cool as seoul, but i live in the english countryside. there’s so many rivers and hills and fields and it’s so pretty here (most of the time)! my village is all stone and cobble and pretty little cottages! i love it, even if sometimes i forget its true beauty . :,)

When I was a high school kid in Seoul, I (lived in Gangnam) used to take the 402, crossed the river, to near HBC to study at the library. I enjoyed not only the view up there, but the Udong and Kimbab at the library cafeteria. :) Thanks for your vlog!

I live in a town by a harbor so a special thing about it is all the beach and water activities, we kayak and paddleboard and just spend days at the beach because it's a 5 minute drive :)

I also wanted to say that (I'm not sure if it's like this in the restaurant you've shown) kimchi is often made with fish sauce and these like little fishes or shrimp so it isn't actually vegan!
