2.19 catches herself miming seemingly !!! She always sang the chorus live and yet I don't think she does now. At the Joe Biden Rally performance somone on youtube reckoned she used the 2002 live audio for the chorus and there are simalarities. I think maybe she sang as well too this time , however I watched several 2019 performances and she seemed to miss the mic at least once on the "live" section each time. I think they played a pre recorded track and she just sang a bit under it and did the "I know that I will get through this bit" that was live for sure , what a shame. At the 2 minute mark she seems to stop singing and let the track play and it sounds like the farewell tour live audio and then later she just sang over it. Perhaps the rest is live and she mimes that so she has enough breath to do the "I don't need you anymore " bit I love Cher and wanted to see that tour, but now it seems less was live than I thought. You know the verses are not but you'd expect the chorus to be done live, its not difficult! All or nothing sounded like the verses where not live too on some recent clips I have seen. I suppose its still Cher and we know her music is still entertaining and when she does sing live , like turn back time , she does always slay it and that makes it a bit worthwhile. 110 quid a ticket is pushing it though if a lot of it is lipped. I read once that up to 40% of the vocals could legally be fully mimed in a live performance (so 30 minutes in a 90 minute content or 40% of the content which I supose could mean a backing track) . I wonder if that is still true.
You're right! she seems to use a pre-recorded track for the chorus now. i think that is understandable, she is over 70+ and has been singing since 1965 so her voice, especially after starting to tour extensively , may be at a level where she struggles to keep up...and that's understandable as songs like Believe or If I Could Turn Back Time were recorded when she was still pretty young, and thus with the years i think her voice weakened to the point that she finds hards to sing her old hits. yes, tickets are expensive and i understand that paying for seeing a lip-synced show is an absurdity but i think we should always check the WHY behind the lip-syncing. Voice is a thing that, along age, ages as well
