Mark & Lard were true legends, they introduced me to all kinds of amazing music (Black Box Recorder, Low, Gomez, etc), on top of being true comedy heroes. God, I miss those days...
Heard this on Mark And Lard's last show on radio 1 that I stumbled across the other day. I kinda knew the tune from years back but never paid much attention to it. It's got me hooked now. Absolutely fantastic.
another great song that reminds me of mark and lard, you notice a lot of people on here being reminded of those two because of great songs I wonder how many comments like that there are about the drivel on Radio 1 now
When I was about 7 a girl in my class said "Guess who in this class room I fancy?" I went through the whole class and then realised she meant me. I was terrified. She was lovely; but I was the guy sitting by the phone too scared to ask.

I guess it´s on the single. But it´s also on the Worst of Black Box Recorder album. Jarvis made the remix under the name of Chocolate Layers. Anyway this is a brilliant song!
@adzthejuggler123 It was 2000. I know because I was 11 at the time... I'm not a boy, but it still stuck out at the time! Shame it never charted very highly... A lot of nostalgia attached to this song for me :)
In the days when you just had to buy a CD to check it out, I randomly picked this up as a fan of a lot of British triphop and "triphop type" shit, and this was definitely the standout track. I tried really hard to enjoy it but it was just a little too corny.
Well it's not on the "The Facts Of Life" single it's on "The Art Of Driving" single. And also on "The Worst Of.." album. The fact that is called "Chocolate Layers remix" confused me. Time to find that album.
Firstly, I want to say that BBR are a damn good band, and I really adore their music first and foremost above all else. But, DAAAAAY-UM, Sarah Nixey is TOO foine!
Mark & Lard were true legends, they introduced me to all kinds of amazing music (Black Box Recorder, Low, Gomez, etc), on top of being true comedy heroes. God, I miss those days...
Somehow, I have this feeling that if I have heard this song in my teens, those years would've been a lot better handled.
same here
Spotify algorithm start to know me well.
Absolutely phenomenal song. Nothing more to add...
...except - the having sex with five people? Sounds a wee bit low to me, and I'm not exactly Casanova...
awesome Lad
Oh, Sarah. What a tremendous voice. Like ice-cream and melted Galaxy chocolate. Wonderful.

Man I miss the good days of Trip-Hop and Electronica!
I first heard this tune way back in 2000 listening to Mark and Lards show on Radio 1. Totally gorgeous song.
I don't know how, but I just stumbled upon this group's music and it is amazing. At least I found it though... Her voice is immaculate.
this song has a very retro vibe to it,and the lead singers vocals work really well with the genre of song too.
Why is this song good? It has no right to be good but it is very genuinely good.
Fueron días gloriosos!
These was glorious days!
Sarah a goddess
Sounds awesome on this album; don't forget Luke either
His vocals killer on some of the songs
brilliant vibe on this

When I was about 7 a girl in my class said "Guess who in this class room I fancy?" I went through the whole class and then realised she meant me. I was terrified. She was lovely; but I was the guy sitting by the phone too scared to ask.
I first heard this on Mark and Lard in the afternoon
sarah nixey...who wouldn't.
Do-do-do, do-do-do
Do-do-do, do-do-do
When boys are just eleven
They begin to grow in height
At a fast rate than they have done before
They develop curiosity and start to fantasize
About the things they have never thought of doing before
These dreams are no more harmful than
The usual thoughts that boys have of
Becoming football stars or millionaires
As long as the distinction between fantasy and fiction remains
It's just a nature walk
It's just the facts of life
There's no master plan
Walk me home from school
I'll let you hold my hand
You're getting ideas
And when you sleep at night
They develop into sweet dreams
It's just the facts of life
A boy sits by the telephone, wanting to call a girl
But not daring to because she might say, "No"
At last he summons up the courage phones
And discovers someone else has asked her first
And she's said, "Yes"
Now's time to deal with the fear of being rejected
No-one gets through life without being hurt
At this point the boy who's listening to this song
Is probably saying, "It's easier said than done" and it's true
It's just the facts of life
There's no master plan
Walk me home from school
I'll let you hold my hand
You're getting ideas
And when you sleep at night
They develop into sweet dreams
It's just the facts of life
Do-do-do, do-do-do
Do-do-do, do-do-do
Small-town dating differs from more urban situations
In particular if there's few places to go
Adolescents normally gather in a cafe or an arcade
If they have to almost anywhere will do
A family car, a disused coalmine
A rowing boat or a shed
Experimentation, familiarization
It's all a nature walk
It's just the facts of life
There's no master plan
Walk me home from school
I'll let you hold my hand
You're getting ideas
And when you sleep at night
They develop into sweet dreams
It's just the facts of life
It's just the facts of life (Sweet dreams develop into ideas)
There's no master plan (Ideas develop into sweet dreams)
Walk me home from school (Sweet dreams develop into ideas)
I'll let you hold my hand (Let you hold my hand)
You're getting ideas (Sweet dreams develop into ideas)
And when you sleep at night (Ideas develop into sweet dreams)
They develop into sweet dreams (Sweet dreams develop into ideas)
It's just the facts of life
It's just the facts of life (Sweet dreams develop into ideas)
There's no master plan (Ideas develop into sweet dreams)
Walk me home from school (Sweet dreams develop into ideas)
I'll let you hold my hand (Let you hold my hand)

Amazing video! Markamara42
song came to my head yesterday, how random, had to search for the song lol
There's no master plan.
Remember this. Its the kind of wierd but brilliant song that would never make it into the mainstream now.
"At this point the boy who's listening to this song is probably saying "it's easier said than done"...
...and it's true."
Argh argh argh
Saw them at Reading 2000...
Wonderful!

I guess it´s on the single. But it´s also on the Worst of Black Box Recorder album. Jarvis made the remix under the name of Chocolate Layers. Anyway this is a brilliant song!
To quote Sarah Nixey "here's the hit" . They should all have been "hits"
reminds me of working in andys records and playing it to death...! i love this track!
Hate to be that guy but...Ashens brought me here.
Me too. I am currently enjoying that all those dance music albums are a complete mystery to him :D
Same, this song is awful though
I think you missed the idea behind the video.
Anddd one year later, I got here from the same unboxing video.
Same!
Maaaan why is it not late 90/early 00s still :(
it's from 2000
i like how the facts at the end aren't really fact just statistics
Honey to the bee musta ripped this off :D
And Never Ever? All Saints
Except that Never Ever was released in '97.

Why are people slagging the vid? It's one of my favs, captures that move from being kids to young adults spot on, great.
@adzthejuggler123 It was 2000. I know because I was 11 at the time... I'm not a boy, but it still stuck out at the time! Shame it never charted very highly...
A lot of nostalgia attached to this song for me :)
She looks like the teacher in Donnie Darko
Damn that singer is fit
Which one?
eveyrthing I learned about sex I learned from Black Box Recorder
Sounds suspiciously much like Ambra's T'Appartengo

@Eightball69 Yeah, that's where I first heard this beautiful song and it also won their track of the year poll.
Well it's not on the "The Facts Of Life" single it's on "The Art Of Driving" single. And also on "The Worst Of.." album. The fact that is called "Chocolate Layers remix" confused me. Time to find that album.
biggedy biggedy bong
I'd like to her Jarvis' remix. Was it released on the single or somewhere else?
So what's the deal with the massive censored bit that's cut out towards the end there?
it's called fade-out
Did anyone notice the 950 kilometres of head hair comment?!
@Eightball69
Yeah, damn I miss Mark and Lard
Vid is right on the mark.
What can I say?
Firstly, I want to say that BBR are a damn good band, and I really adore their music first and foremost above all else.
But, DAAAAAY-UM, Sarah Nixey is TOO foine!
