    I've found that tightening the screw to factory recommended 2.5Nm using the super clamp tends to weaken the factory screw at the head and has broken on me twice. 20in-lbs seems to be where it's happiest.

      What did you use to torque it down, a fix it stick as shown in the video? Just curious

    This is a good option. Didn't know about this when I mounted the MPS to dawson's DPO system. I just shaved the ACRO mount enough to fit the MPS.

    I will definitely be buying a few of these.

    That "nanometers" got me every time.
    Is there any rigidity or repeatability advantage to upgrading to this when using an mps specific mounting plate?
    It would have also been nice to see a mention of keeping the optic pressed forward during torque to eat up any slot tolerances against the recoiling face, just to help spread best mounting practices.

    Does this have to be used with you optic plate or can it be used with other plates too or slides like the Brownells acro cut slide?

    • @apextactical
      @apextactical  11 месяцев назад

      This is designed to assure that your MPS mounts to any ACRO mount. So it works with any slide or mount designed for the ACRO.

    Does this mean the optic would still work on a Steiner MPS specific plate?

    This will only fix the problem of shear loading the mounting screw if all of the tolerance stack lines up. The only way to fix this issue is to have a pivot that the screw goes through. This an informed observation from someone who has a screw sheared off in their sight.

      Having the screw go through the pivot point would not produce appropriate clamping force, we tried that. As long as the factory screw is not over torqued, it will hold up just fine with our clamp.

    This item is needless and this video is deceiving. One they didn’t use the recoil boss as designed, nor in their demonstration. Did they torque it to the proper torque value?

    Isn't that 100% the point of the slot in the acro mount. That's like picatinny not having slots. Of course, it would be as effective buuut it does have slots and the acro has a slot as well. Thanks tho

      There is a massive variance on 1913 rails as well and that's why people who know choose higher quality mounts.

    • @BigSkyGuyWhy
      @BigSkyGuyWhy Год назад +3

      @MD Fröman I don't disagree. But the Steiner MPS stock mount is more than enough on thr quality side. Many people think because there's an "upgrade" option that it must be an improvement, with this product, it's a ploy.
