Lead author Jean-Philippe Girard provides an overview of their article published in JEM about the molecular mechanisms involved in the initiation of allergic airway inflammation. The study reveals that TL1A is an epithelial alarmin which cooperates with IL-33 for rapid induction of IL-9high ILC2s a few minutes after allergen exposure.
