Knew Bill at Montgomery College and Played with him at Frank Condns up in Rockville, sit in night.. Very Cool. Told the story of doing some touring back in the 50's Claimed they rented a car and put a ton of miles on it. Then jacked up the rear end and let it run in reverse to take the miles off. I don't know if that is possible, but I don't care. He told it with a smile on his face.
i swear i have some old Woody herman vids on my VHS tapes and that dude who took the trumpet solos looks like and older version of the same guy on my tapes---too bad my vhs player doesn't work anymore--wonder if that's the same guy
I knew Bill in the 70s when he was at Montgomery College. He was an amazing man. I once saw him jam on the piano so hard, his fingers bled.
Man, when that sax kicks in at 4.08... just perfect.
