Wow
Had the pleasure of playing traps with him at Frank Condns club in Rockville and knew him from Montgomery College. Told some great stories of the "Old days". Thanks Bill for the nice memory/ies.
Knew Bill at Montgomery College and Played with him at Frank Condns up in Rockville, sit in night.. Very Cool. Told the story of doing some touring back in the 50's Claimed they rented a car and put a ton of miles on it. Then jacked up the rear end and let it run in reverse to take the miles off. I don't know if that is possible, but I don't care. He told it with a smile on his face.
Any ?,s .
Wonderful to see my old friends..the wonderful Mark Cook, who performed brilliantly 🎭 many times with my group..and the late Treasure Bill Potts. Most sincerely..Vaughn Nark 🎺
Beyond precious memories for ALL OF US who performed with the wonderful Bill Potts! Rest peacefully Brother Bill..your talent enriched the world 🌎 Your friend and admirer eternally..Vaughn Nark 🎺
This band is filled with all stars! Mike Cotty, Dave Steinmeyer, Lee Gauze, Harvey Coonin, John Jensen, Don Junker and many others! The whole band is world class.
I like the call and response between the trumpets and trombones behind the tenor solo. That wasn't in the chart we played in college beck in the 70's. Great version, and Potts is funny.
A band that are really enjoying themselves!
Great Band, Fabulous trombone section. From left to right. John Jensen, Rick Lillard, Dave Steinmeyer, Doug Elliott and Lee Gause on Bass bone.
Where is this at? Would enjoy going here for photography in the spring/summer. Thanks :)
I had the pleasure of playing bass in Bill's band at Montgomery College for two years. He was an incredible man. I miss him dearly.
CineGraphic when did he pass away?
actually I think I may have been playing bone 1. There's 5 and I'm in the center.
I'm playing bone 3. Playing bone 2 is the great Vaughn Wiester. (now Dr.) Mark Cook is the one trading choruses on the piano.:-)
Who are these guys? Great Band!!
Super piece by Bill Potts and played brilliantly too. Anyone out there know where I can get this arrangement? brassplus@xtra.co.nz
You'd think those sax players were getting paid by the NOTE! wow!
i swear i have some old Woody herman vids on my VHS tapes and that dude who took the trumpet solos looks like and older version of the same guy on my tapes---too bad my vhs player doesn't work anymore--wonder if that's the same guy
I had the pleasure of studying with your dad in the late 70s and I will never forget his kindness, encouragement and sense of humor. I remember jamming with him one night, and he was playing the piano so hard, his fingers bled. Thanks for posting this, it's great to see him in action again after so many years.
I knew Bill in the 70s when he was at Montgomery College. He was an amazing man. I once saw him jam on the piano so hard, his fingers bled.
My grandpas name is bill Potts but he's a different bill Potts
FANTASTIC !!!!!
Fantastic performance. Thanks for uploading these videos!
@1dudeguy1 Agreed. I wish Bill Potts was still around! He was a great arranger.
Man, when that sax kicks in at 4.08... just perfect.
Saw Bill Potts band a variety of times in the late 70's (I think). It was some of the most enjoyable concerts I ever attended. He hasn't lost it. Hot band.
Nice! Wish I could have gone with you guys. Z
Awesome video shoot!! Captured all the madness and hysterics of our trip! Go Bob!!
Thanks for the correction as to who is performing. This was one of many videotapes left to me by my dad (Bill Potts). Am glad to read that it brought back memories for some of you.
@mizadrianne I know this may not matter much to your dad cause he probably hears it all the time but he's my favorite trombone player and back in high school&college in hawaii, i'd always pick up Airmen lps esp if they had him featured on it---ironically, I'm your average non pro classical trumpet player who loves jazz as well--
Mr. Steinmeyer, The Best !
I love Vaughn Nark's playing. He has his own style which, yes is sometimes not accepted by the long hair trumpet community, but it's his and unmistakeable. Go Vaughn!
wonderful performance! great tune, and great solo from ron!
