      +Kayli 'Kiyo' Mills (MewKiyoko) 105 is getting dangerously close to the point of losing the fat you NEED. Girls can slip easily into a state of mind where they lose too much weight, sometimes to the point where their own organs break down. This is NOT healthy. This may encourage more girls to adopt unhealthy weight loss, to the point where it injures them. It's about where is this going to lead, and the lack of safe motivations from the show. They should be motivating people to be healthy, not to lose more weight than they need to and trade their health for MONEY.

    • @MewKiyoko

      It depends your definition of skinny which can differ for a man or woman, I say 5'4 and 105 is skinny for anyone, Someone can still be thin but have a healthy BMI if it's above 18.5. Her's is slightly below that. Besides too much weight can be bad, lets say if they become anorexic, bulimic, etc.

    Much relief after going through this stuff ruclips.net/user/postUgkxVYhghKWmrUgXARZ_ydZTvmmcrw5L0I5i Stress no doubt affects my blood sugar levels. Taking a walk usually helps bring them down. Eating sweets is not my favorite, but if i take a large portion of them, my blood sugar level rises high. I think it's the high concentration of the glucose flowing into the bloodstream all at once. This is a lesson worth taking note of. This is a great material to learn from.

    Slightly under the healthy index? Many people in Asia are always slightly under the healthy index and we're perfectly fine, I rather be slightly under the health index than to be massively over the health index. Besides, she's not starving herself, she's exercising and eating less, that's not bad. Unless she starts developing bulimia or anorexia, I don't see any problem in this.

      Rachel Lim True. And it also depends on the weight of the bones, the % muscle or the % fat, each must take into account each individual, individually.

    • @denisenova7494
      @denisenova7494 6 лет назад +119

      Rachel Lim: She isn't Asian though. Asians are tiny and have a different body frame and smaller bone structure. It's often hotter in their countries. That's basic biology. Bergmann's law. Even animals in colder countries have more mass and are bigger. The average German or Scandinavian girl is taller and has bigger hips and shoulders with a different bone structure. So even the skeletons would look bigger next to Asians. So they have to weight more and need more amount of food and they gain weight more easily. Same goes for people in cold countries like Russia. Guess where most white people in the USA are from? Right: Europe. Often Germany or Great Britiain.

      @@denisenova7494 The problem with how you reason is that you basically tether your entire argument on Bergmann's law and then attribute that to humans. Bergmann's law is mainly for animals, and the major critique of it is that it has very little to do with latitude but with how long the food availability lasts. In northern countries, it lasts fewer months than in southern.
      I was going to tell you to check the actual statistics on body composition and bone density whilst also adjusting for starvation cycles in these countries. But I feel that would just shoot straight over your head so I am just going to say this: CHECK THE NATIONAL BASKETBALL LEAGUE. WHERE ARE THOSE PLAYERS FROM? ARE THEY SHORT?

      @@fatboitino2 Yes, but there are much safer ways for a morbidly obese person to lose that weight. Making them run or do box jumps is STUPID. Imagine 500 LBS of pressure being applied directly to their joints when jumping.
      Also, not everyone on The Biggest Loser is "morbidly obese". Some have not reached that level yet. In any case, a healthy rate of fat loss is 1 - 2.5 pounds per week. Perhaps this can be slightly increased for obese people. And it should be mainly changes to diet along with light impact exercise like swimming. You cannot train a morbidly obese person the same way you would train an Olympic athlete. Their bodies are different. They could have a heart attack at any moment.
      By shifting the focus away from heath and towards what the scale shows and making it a competition to how many pounds someone can drop at once is very wrong. This is why so many people who are on the Biggest Loser end up gaining all the weight back, if not more.

      Michel The prevalence of eating disorders is less than 10% of the population. It's really not "easy" to get one. It's "easy" to claim to have one. Moreover, there is a difference between "disordered eating" and "eating disorder." Big difference in fact. I'm sorry friends of yours have experienced it, but it's quite offensive to trivialize eating disorders as something "easy to catch." It's not like a cold or flu, it's a mental illness that takes years to develop, and is influenced by many things, most of which have nothing to do with weight or body size. Everybody is so quick to jump to the terms "anorexia" or "bulimia" these days without actually knowing what it takes to be diagnosed with them.

    • @fjalls
      @fjalls 7 лет назад

      Jasmine Kassam That just what I didnt mean. This show is almost designed for ppl to "evolve" eating disorders. I consider it a eating disorder when a person gets so thin that he or she has to be hospitalized or when someone ALWAYS thinks about food in a con´trolling matter. Her supposed ED does not show cause thats her goal. Its shows when lets say shes having a party for her daughter or whatever and eats carrots in instead of a piece of cake. Then she and other says "oh, its just because of my diet, I cant eat this"
      Its super easy to "get" a ED. My niece is on her way there, I see it in how she acts around food. I talked to her mom about this over a year ago. Always gets the respond that she is fine, its just a phase. Thats how my ex gf got her anorexia. She almost died. Then she got healthy and started lifting weights. Now she has orthorexia and is basically training her body to pieces. Everybody STILL says she is fine and has a great body.
      Ive been around it so much I almost can read when someone has a problem. Its so incredible how common it is.

      Oh, and yo-yo-ing is another dangerous possibility. The stress it puts on the body to lose weight quickly, does harm to every internal system. That harm shows up later in life, so people don't make the connection. To gain the weight back, creates even more damage. Fat stores toxins. Fat is a great protector. So, while it is unhealthy to be obese, losing weight needs to be done in a way that doesn't attack the body/hate the fat (as fat is a good thing in moderation). When you lose weight quickly, toxins stored in the fat to protect the body, are released into the body quickly, and the body can't heal itself properly. If you lose weight at a slow, consistent rate--the body can cleanse the body of those toxins. And that's just one of the many ways in which it's bad to lose weight too quickly...

BMI is useful to look at statistics for populations but isnt as important for individuals whats concerning is the rate at which she dropped the weight, but she is much healthier now than before. She’s fine, this isn’t really unhealthy. She is a few pounds beneath the average BMI range for her height and age, that’s not unhealthy, just not average which doesn’t mean healthy. It’s not the appearance she’s being awarded for either, it’s the fact of how much she lost and how drastic a change it was in a good direction. She looks typical of Hollywood actresses and reminds me of Christian Bale from "The Machinist". She has no mass which is why her eyes are snuck in and her bones protrude. But if you are constantly out of breath, have trouble sleeping, headaches etc(endless list) then weight can be an indicator. Your BMI is 19 and you are constantly out of breath, damn that doesn't sound good, maybe you eat too little or are malnourished. And vice versa.

    I hate when fitness trainers think they know what it's like to be morbidly obese it's not just physically depleting it's mental to and it's never been harder to lose weight ever since now

      It is because she lost too much weight, too fast and could be suffering from a life threatening illness now. The show should be promoting healthy weight loss, not starvation diets. She may need help.

      Exactly what I was thinking. Looks can be deceiving, and everyone's body is different. Just because you're a certain height doesn't mean you have to conform to the same exact criteria as everyone else. People enjoy shaming others whether or not they're "too fat" or "too skinny."

    The issue isn’t how much she lost, it’s how quickly she lost it. 52 pounds a month?

      but look at her face! look on google. her face is all bones. it is empancipated. she is the smallest so far. she is WAAAAY thinner than all of the other winners. once you go that low, its VERY hard to get back to A HEALTHY WEIGHT. people who have never had an eating disorder or anorexia, its hard for them to understand. her whole mental mind will be changed. she thinks she looks healthy right now. it will be difficult for her to chage her mind set for her to gain weight again. this is a downward spiral. I had anorexia, I know. I had an eating disorder. I was obsessed with food, and did the opposite and got obsessed with not eating and exercising. look her up on google and she all her photos. her arms and legs are too skinny. her face is gaunt. Im 130 at 17 and im lean. this is ridiculous. shes way to thin and sadly, she can't even see it. the judges faces were shocked!!!!!!! that's why twitter is roaring with how thin she is! this is not healthy and strong. she is bony..

      The reason her BMI is still almost in the healthy range is because she's so short...
      Now, if she was 5'7" or 5'8", THAT would be dangerous.

      Mike Hawk Do not bring bmi in to this. The BMI scale is one of the most ludicrous "measurements of health" ever. It is completely inaccurate and is not a good determination of a persons health.

    You all are fucking ridiculous and mean at first people doubted her, called her fat, and ugly but now that she is skinny you want to keep on judging her .. you can not please society honestly i'm glad she got that weight off , did you see her smile I know she felt good about herself how can she honestly keep being happy with herself if the world is still bringing her down for something that she thought would make society happier not only you all but herself and her family. grow the fuck up for once, and stop dissing her for something she thought would be right.

      You do realize that she was damaging her body to win money right? She lost her period, was extremely dehydrated and her hair was falling out. I wouldn't be happy for her. You are blind if you really think this show is about a glorious journey to a healthier life.

    • @TaBelieveKally
      @TaBelieveKally 10 лет назад +3

      well you did not realize that I did not know all that was happening to her, and I am not blind lol, but you guys yeah society are not happy with anyone! yes she was unhealthy as a fat ass not she is unhealthy as a skinny ass! what the fuck do you guys want her to be? huh no one can please you guys, its her fucking life if she wants her hair to fall out let that shit fall out in the end are you picking it up off the floor nope, or even if she wants diabetes are you going to be the one buying her meds nope! so why the fuck are we setting here disagreeing on eachothers comments? bye now

    • @TaBelieveKally

      You hate skinny people. So you're judging people purely based off of their appearance. You're just as bad as someone who says they hate overweight people. God, this is ridiculous. What an ignorant fuck.How do you just shove all skinny people into one category of assholes?
      Sorry you went through all that but we don't all act nasty. I don't like you because you seem like you're judgemental before you even know someone.

      I never watched the show. Never heard of the person until today. And the methods they employ for this show-not even for this particular person-are not healthy. It's crash dieting. If you want to lose weight sustainably, 1-2 lbs/week is advisable. Employing gradual sustainable changes that you can maintain over the long term. I've seen the show before (it's been a few years) and the way they approach weight loss-drop as much as humanly possible as quick as humanly possible and you get money...? Not healthy.
