    Wow some serious haters on here. This isn't music that he's releasing commercially... it's basically educational stuff he makes for his guitar camp and for lesson downloads. The overall theme is to go outside of the box and challenge players with material that is borderline uncomfortable to play because it's so different from the conventions. Before you talk about emotions and robots check out his music with Freak Kitchen... songs like Breathe are proof enough that this man has a deep soul.

    the best thing here is that you can see that this guy is enjoy what he is doing, and that is the most important thing here.... yeah a lot of haters here, but what, I can bet that all of them dont enjoy what they do.. In my opinion I love this abstract style.

    This guy is blowing my mind! Why is it only now that I'm hearing about him? It must be because he only just recently arrived on planet. That would explain his other-worldly sound and precision laden technique! Unreal!

    • @88omair
      @88omair 8 лет назад +3

      "Why is it only now that I'm hearing about him? "
      Probably because his band Freak Kitchen is pretty underground. He's a ridiculously talented guitar player for sure. Insane precision

    • @viktorolsson5927

    • @jordanschaefer4302

      Although I'm sure they have an audience somewhere, Freak Kitchen is kinda...totally horrible, with like one song as an exception. They remind me of some average local band with little to offer. Then Mattias sits in front of a camera with his guitar and amp and some programmed drums and blows my mind, multiple times.

    Those are called True Temperament frets..They are custom made to ensure that every note is correctly intonated. A “G” sounds like a “G” no matter where it is played. Looking at the True Temperament frets they don’t look like they would be easy to play or bend on, but Mattias explained that they felt just the same as regular frets, with the added benefit of always being in tune.

    Its called True Tempered frets..You can google search about that..I asked him why his frets were crazy and he said that the actual notes in a chord lies in those style frets and you can play chords in perfect tune..mean while the straight frets only give about 95% tune..You can also know that in his some interview about his guitar..cheers!

    also, the problem isn't due to any "old system" but, as the TT fret site says, the spacing on conventional frets ignores that strings have mass. has nothing to do with what "looks normal". Oh, and if you're good enough you can correct the pitch of notes by adjusting the pressure on your fretting hand on 'normal' fretted guitars too

  • @streetwarrior31

    I know thats styles are many...many many ones and very diversse BUT...3 guitarists that i love and i can imediatly identify themselfs are.
    Jeff Waters = Annihilator
    Alex Skolnick = Testament
    And Mattias Eklundh
    Why ? becouse of their improbable why of sounding!when someone ear a guitarist, even if hes good, we can almost imediatly reconize a pattern and imagine the next phrase or sound (theres nothing rong in that ) but this 3 guys, have a unic sound and after 30 seconds you know,ah thats them!

    Wow!
    Gutherie is STILL the best I for me. He's the perfect taste-musicality-insane-chops cyborg! God got all the ingredients right when he made that cat! Still love Vai, Satriani, Gilbert, etc. as well.
    Just discovering Mattias...and must say that I'm BLOW'D away....BUT....while I'm the biggest guitar fanatic (It's true! None bigger than me on youtube! LOL)...I don't think I could listen to 2hrs of this. Would give me tons of ideas of things that I would never be able to do, but I don't think I could listen to hours on end. I can with the aforementioned guitarists...
    Will keep my eye on this dude!

    This song has feel anyway, just because it is different from what most people are used to hearing they struggle to comprehend it and instead put it down. People generally don't like change. There are far more "shreddier", "scalular" type players out there. Mattias is one of the shredders who has great feel. Otherwise I completely agree with you.

    This is one short song from one of his albums that have 19 plus songs on etch album and every single one is completely unpredictable,it can be a extremely hard suppershreddingsong with the typical "MEklund" sound that he is more or less the only one in the world to be able to crank out of a guitar using no effects,just technique (that he had to give Steve Vai lessons on how to use a guitar just when he thought he had mastered all that could be dun with his lifepartners secrets)
    M.E. is complete

    I so badly want a guitar like that one.He has the coolest own "devil apple" designed guitar.Not seen one in any music stores here in Sweden and he is a swede like me and most great guitarist in Europe,we are only 9 million and Finland and Norway are about 9 million together too.Scandinavia,the metal seat of the planet.(No,all you americans,we never had the grungewave and nu metalband over here,In Flames,Soilwork,Arch Enemy,Children of Bodom,and the list just goes on of band popping up>Korn .LB.)

    I like his style that is unique and kind of otherworldly. I think Steve Vai must be ripping him off with some of these licks. Brilliant player and he has a very funny sense of humour. We need more funny ass people like him in this world. I am glad to discover his music. I am very curious about the True Temperment guitar. I see he had an 8 string. I am curious if he played a 7 string with that system? I want to learn more about the India approach to rhythm. I forgot the actual term it was called. Very cool stuff man.

    • @nstewart1920
      @nstewart1920 8 лет назад

      JRPowell Funny mention Vai... There are a lot of elements in this piece which remind of Vai's very early release called "Flexible". It was release a very looooong time ago. I hardly think Vai stole anything for him. That release made guitarists say, "How the hell'd he do?! " over and over again. Every few years there's a guitar album like that. Van Halen's 1 st release had the same effect on the guitar world.
      Wow! I'm thinking back and, off the top of my head, Flexible must have been released 30 years ago now. Wow!!! I just made myself feel old!!! Thanks a lot JR!! 😂
