Can I use another Magical crimping plier which is for 2x2mm crimp tubes with the beadsmith magical crimp tubes 2x2mm? Also can I use those beadsmith magical crimp tubes and plier on Medium or Fine Soft Flex wires?
I think there's a good chance your other magical-style pliers will work with the Beadsmith magical crimps. Hard to say for sure without knowing more, so do test it first. Worse case scenario you end up with some high quality beadsmith crimps that can also be used with regular crimp pliers. As for your other question, you can use magical crimps with Medium or Heavy Soft Flex Wire. Fine is too thin for it.
I am making a bracelet with 2mm beads and .014 wire so I thought the Magical crimping tool would be ideal as it needs to be so dainty. It seems my wire may be too fine for the tool. I am also looking for rose gold crimp tubes as everything needs to be compatible in colour and scale. Can you advise please?
This sounds like beautiful project. Unfortunately I do think that wire is going to be a little too fine for the magical crimper. Beadsmith lists 0.018" wire as the smallest diameter it will work with. As for rose gold crimp tubes, I took a look in our inventory and couldn't find any. The closest thing we've got is these 14K rose gold crimp tube covers in a 3mm size beadaholique.com/products/14k-rose-gold-filled-3mm-crimp-bead-covers-20-pieces Good luck with your search!
Oh I'm so sad! I love making dainty bracelets (11/0 seed beads and such) as well and received this for Christmas. I was so excited!! But it slips all over my wire. I was really hoping I could make it work since it was so perfect! I wonder if putting super glue or jewelry glue on the string before putting it back through the crimp could possibly make it hold? I usually put some clear coat nail polish on my regular crimps just to prevent them from getting pulled/stretched out of place if I catch it on something since I wear them daily. I wonder if maybe using a stronger glue before using the Magical Crimper could keep it in place. ***UPDATE*** I brushed a tiny bit of super glue onto the wire and used needle nose pliers to pull the crimp tube down to prevent getting super glue on my fingers lol then looked the end of the wire back through and crimped it as directed and no more sliding!!! I brushed the TINIEST bit onto the wire so it was more tacky/sticky than wet, so sorry about dripping, getting glue on the crimp bead, or having the crimp tube slip away. I really hope this encourages you to keep trying this tool with your dainty projects!
Hi! This is Julie - I have personally not used it with something other then the magical crimp tubes but here is what the product description says: Specially designed for use with 2mm sterling silver, gold-filled or BeadSmith base metal tube crimps. Works well with the following wires: 0.020" (0.508mm) Flex-Rite, 0.018" (0.457mm) Beadalon, and 0.019" (0.482mm) Soft Flex. I hope this helps!
I bought the wrong one..what size crimp do i order to use for the green color one the pliers say 0.14-0.15 can you assist me in ordering the right crimp for the green version
By green version do you mean the wire with the green label? For that 0.5mm beading wire I'd recommend a 2x2mm crimp tube. If you're using the Magical Crimp pliers we showed in video I'd recommend these tubes: beadaholique.com/products/the-beadsmith-crimp-tubes-2x2mm-100-pieces-gold-plated If you're not sure what pliers you have then use these 2x2mm crimp tubes: beadaholique.com/products/beadsmith-crimp-tubes-2x2mm-100-pieces-gold-plated
It is a fantastic little tool. The only comment I can give is to somehow get closer to the microphone you can barely hear your instructions. Other than that I love the magical crimper
It will only work with 2x2mm crimps. Here is a link to the pliers: beadaholique.com/products/magical-crimping-pliers-transforms-2mm-tubes-into-round-beads-1-pc
Where are you suppose to cut the extra wire at. I was cutting it even with the crimp bead. Then I read somewhere you need to leave extra wire. For slippage. I tried that, I had a heck of a time trying to get the other side done. Please help
Hi Deborah, this is my question today n I see that it was yours a year ago! Could you please tell me if you had success using this tool with other 2mm crimp tubes?! My designs only call for the gold color n I use gold filled not base metal but I'm afraid that the gold filled tubes won't have enough thickness to create that nice cute ball finish! Thank you in advance for your time!
The magical crimps don't fold over like traditional crimps so the wires should not cross. If you are having trouble you can try to hold them together with your fingers or practice on a few scrap pieces before adding them to your work.
@@aricohn5316 Ah you're right, the wires did go in crossed! I misunderstood the original question. The best practice is to not have the wires crossed, you want them side by side (Which, let me tell you, is easier to double check when you can bring the piece in close to have a look instead of holding it far out under the camera the whole time, oops!). Typically you'll be able to tell right away if crimping them while crossed is going to be a problem with a particular combination of wire and crimp, because it just won't crimp closed cleanly and you'll have wasted a crimp. Sometimes depending on the sizes you can get away with it like we did here, but the safest and least wasteful practice is to put the wires in side by side and double check it!
I've had the tool for years but it says to use it with sterling silver crimp beads. So I must have bought mine before the magical crimps came out. I'll have to see if I can find the crimps.
We've got a nice assortment pack of the magic crimps available if you're looking to give them a try: beadaholique.com/products/beadsmith-magical-crimp-assortment-2x2mm-silver-gold-copper-black-oxide-500-pieces
Can it be used with any 2mm crimping bead or it only takes bead smith magical crimping beads? I just purchased it and was told they thought it could be use with any 2mm crimping beads but watching your video it doesn't seem that way, I guess I'm going to have to return it 😥😥😥
It's one of those "For best results" situations. The magical crimper is sized for 2mm x 2mm crimp tubes, and you can use any tube that size. Softer metal is best, so the Beadsmith magical crimps use a base metal alloy that's soft but not too soft. Harder brass tubes and softer base metal tubes can work as well, they're just a bit more difficult to shape.
BeadSmith recommends using the magical crimper with their 2mm x 2mm crimp tubes. We carry an assortment pack of them here: beadaholique.com/collections/crimp-ends-covers-cord-ends/products/beadsmith-4-color-assorted-variety-pack-plated-crimp-beads-2x2mm-500-total
Though a nice invention, I see that the bead still has extra metal sticking out around the bottom. Not completely round. Will this become better with practice?
Viewed under 5x magnification, I see a marquise shape after the first squeeze, not a ravioli shape. Also, the presenter says to give the crimp tube “a nice little squeeze” after rotating the tube 90 degrees. This is a vague description. My own experience was that to get a rounded shape, I needed to squeeze the pliers arms 90%, but not 100% closed on the second and subsequent squeezes. I also had to be very careful not to move the crimp tube horizontally as I rotated it, an easy mistake to make.
We prefer crimp covers for most of our designs, we like our crimps as round as possible and we don't mind putting extra time and expense into that by adding covers, but some people swear by this tool, it's a quick way to get a nice result if you're making bracelets at a time.
I don't think this will work on memory wire. I am always up for experimenting, but memory wire can not be bent and formed like normal beading wire so you won't be able to loop around and back through the crimp bead.
Where has this thing been all my life!!!! So getting one tomorrow!! I hate the ugly crimp covers and my crap crimping tool I have.
Such a great little tool. I don't have a crimp tool, glad I waited.
Mary

If I use these with the #3 Beadalon crimp tubes (2x2.2 mm), will I have overhanging material when I use this tool?
Yes, the magical crimping tool is designed to work best with the 2x2mm magical crimps, with the #3 beadalon crimp tubes there will be some overhang.
That looks great. Does it also work with 3mm crimp tubes? Thanks.
We don't recommend it for 3mm crimps. It's a great tool but versatile it's not.

Is it possible to use a sterling silver crimp tube with the magical crimp tool or just beadsmith tubes
Yes, you can used it with 2mm sterling silver or gold filled crimp tubes
Do you have to use special crimps or can I use the crimps I already have?
For this particular tool, you need to use the magical crimps.
I recently purchased the tool but I realized it works with magical crimps only, is that correct?

Hi Nina, I do recommend have a tail long enough so that it fits back through at least one bead. You can do this on both sides.
The best!!!!

Is it ok if the wires criss cross through the crimp tube?I know when you use the traditional method of crimping, you wouldn’t want the wires to cross.
