  • This video is for intermediate level students, teaching you how to switch stance before executing a rear leg Turning Kick. The switching movement is useful to help you dodge or reposition yourself in a free sparring situation.
It is part of a series on sparring drills, where I suggest practice drills to improve sparring techniques, combinations, strategies, footwork etc. The sparring drills are mainly focussed on Taekwon-Do free-sparring but can also be used for kickboxing or any similar martial art.

Which part of our leg should touch the opponent. You use lower part. Your sparring partner use upper part.can you clarify it. Please 🙏

    Greetings Grandmaster,
I've a strange problem. Mostly I'm orthodox. But my left kicks are better than right. So, if I have stance like orthodox it's less good roundhouse. If I stance south, I get weaker cross. Please help.
    Thank you

One question: in this video when your opponent was left-foot forward the turning kick appeared to target the opponent's back - would this be legal in an ITF tournament?

You areright. It is against ITF rules to kick to the back so kicking in this way is risky in tournaments. You would have to make sure you hit to the side of the body. Using the ball of the foot as opposed to the instep would make it easier.
