I actually saw Gavaskar bat on his first day at the crease at QPCC 1971. They really could not out Gavaskar at all . He came back the next day to complete his double. I remember that he was eventually bowled but everyone concluded that he was just exhausted after making all those runs .
@@TheJollyEngineer saw him twice . Second time 1976. India batting last needed over 400 to win . With his second innings century he set India up for an improbable victory on the last day . When Patel came in victory was assured as India had both time ( well before tea ) and wickets . Among the greatest run chase in history . That final day was like a World Cup not a test match . And I was there to see Gavaskar engineer another Indian victory at QPCC.
Last time Gavaskar batted in westindies was in 1975-76 series. Joel garner debut -1977 Collin Croft debut -1977 Malcolm Marshall debut - 1978 Sir Curtly Ambrose debut - 1988 Courtney Walsh debut - 1984 Andy Roberts & Michael Holding were the bowlers who troubled Gavasakar & rest of the Indian team. Thanks for your comment! Just to clarify, Sunil Gavaskar did indeed play in the West Indies after 1975-76. His last series in the West Indies was in 1983, where he faced fast bowlers like Malcolm Marshall, Andy Roberts, Joel Garner, and Michael Holding. You’re right that Curtly Ambrose and Courtney Walsh debuted later, so they didn’t play against Gavaskar during his peak. I appreciate the correction about Ambrose and Walsh - I’ll adjust the description to reflect that. Gavaskar was known for his masterful handling of the West Indian pace battery, especially during the 1970s and early 80s. Hope this clears things up!
This was after the 1971 tour that the calypso came… ❤
❤ you Gavesker

Glad you liked it❤️
This is a calypso from Trinidad and Tobago, sung by Lord Relator. It’s not an “Indian song”
