yes definitely! As a shorts creator it is so annoying. Especially if the short is revealing something but in the thumbnail it is already revealed. Please add this back youtube!

I know that youtube wants to be THE platform for watching all forms of content. But the youtube shorts have been getting so much attention lately and im a shorts creator so when i occasionally post soem long form content, i work hard on it and put more time into it than a short and they never get as many views as shorts do!
youtube shorts is really just to gain subscribers so that you can post long form content and actually get views on it from your subscribers. initially, youtube shorts will most likely get you more views
I wish YT Corporate Strategy would shift focus to Long form videos, the benefit and competitive advatage of this platform. Most sorts now are designed with fast paced editing which cause a deleterious effect on our youth and their attention span. People cannot pay attention to observe and learn details, lose patience and find normal things 'boring'. I wish YT would push content and formats that will encourage people to slow down and smell the roses so to speak.
Yeah, I've had a viewer pretty much harassing me to do more Shorts. On Anti-HyperStreams. I started using this account for free Premium because I had to stop working due to two cancer-related surgeries and radiation treatments.
I have two suggestions: - I'd love if we could use our own Emojis even from the "comments" tab, instead of having to go to the video. The current process - if we want to use our own Emojis - eats SO much time. - Sometimes, adding an Emoji after the text is already written deletes an entire row of text. Please fix! ❤
Yeah, I wish they'd just perfect what they have (fix problems and issues we keep telling them about) before throwing all these "improvements" at it every week.
Shorts? Meh... but, hey, I tried YT's Thumbnail testing on my long form videos, and it looks interesting and helpful so far. So I'll give 'em credit for that one.

Three years and counting and still no custom shorts thumbnail. Every platform on planet earth has this ability except of course RUclips. Even Rumble has this feature.
good grief - please YT - leave things like this out - catering for the 'short' fad is just ruining 'real' creativity. Please pass this along to your product leaders: I promise you that you'll look back on how much you prioritized shorts and realize it was a huge mistake. The economics are terrible for creators AND RUclips, attribution is fundamentally less certain, and I don't think that will ever change. You're chasing TikTok while you're letting the actual core business rot... this is a terrible strategic mistake in my view-- if I'm wrong, please tell me why (but nobody at RUclips has ever given me a good answer on this).
How about the comment section of videos are not available until a certain% is watched first? Idea came to me last night :) Most negative comments or just not smart comments are from those who clearly have not watched anything

Can you please define "shorts creator"? Are you referring to specific people who only upload shorts? Are you referring to your hand picked privileged creators? Are you referring to anyone who both creates long form and short form? What the heck is a "shorts creator"?....

I could care less about trends but what I would like to know is about a much more fundamental design flaw in shorts. Why can't you add description and tags on upload? There is no field for it when you first upload a video. You have to finish uploading and wait for it to process and go live. Only then can you go back in and edit it and add a video descriptions and tags. Seems like a ridiculous oversight. Also, why is there no dedicated shorts upload option on desktop? I often edit and mix my short on desktop (because doing it on the phone sucks) and then have to transfer back to my phone to upload If I can upload normal videos on desktop, why not shorts. I have been told that it recognises videos under 1 minute automatically as a short however it almost always gets it wrong. Also, I may not want to upload a video as a short and if it didn't get it wrong, I would have no option.
I've kinda noticed that too. I have 1 short that hit 3.7 Million views but ALL my other "trending" shorts only hit around 10k. Something aint right lol
Why not improve the "Clickable" Related Link..something that Shorts viewers will engage...Something that will pop out and ask for attention (aka Attention Grabbing). The current Shorts related link is surrounded by many texts, the play button can be mistaken for a RUclips logo and many people doesn't even know you're giving them a related long form video (and telling them to "click the play button below to watch the long form" is not a time-saver at all).
📌Please refrain from announcing features that are not yet available to everyone. I decided to make a short video and mentioned a sticker you referenced, but it was not there. I had to delete the video because I was recording a voice-over inviting my audience to tap the sticker, only to find it wasn't available. its so so frustrating !!! btw I saved the clip as a draft in case the feature becomes available on my app
They said it was an experiment and specifically used the wording "If you're a creator in the experiment" What they need to do is make it clear if you are or aren't in the experiment.

I know it wasn't the topic of this video, but - any chance we can get a "re-run test" button for thumbnail test & compare? I have educational content that gets heavily seasonal traffic with the US school year, so most results I'm getting over the summer are inconclusive. If I want to re-run the tests during the school year, right now I have to go through a bunch of extra clicks to re-upload all the thumbnails. It would be nice if there was a single-click option to re-run with the same three thumbnails. Not a huge deal, but a minor quality of life improvement!

Can we get a system of discovery where we as viewers input words or phrases and then relevant videos are shown for us to choose from? What we have now only seems to show limited results and then defaults to "trending" content, "what other people watched", "previously watched" and "new to you". None of which is useful if I am trying to find out how to use a new video editor, fix a lawnmower or find something on a specific topic or creator, not to mention it buries smaller channels by pushing trending videos. So frustrating to have to go to 3rd party websites to find RUclips content.
I would like to thank RUclips for listening to me, I would like to say to all my colleagues not to lose hope because RUclips has made enormous strides in listening to the requests of creators, I have written for weeks in the comments of this channel that I want the function to put multilingual audio track in the videos and in the end you listened to me and activated them, I thank you on behalf of the entire Italian community because it will allow me personally to be among the few to be able to experiment with this function and for the Italian community to have more creators with the function in active beta, I finally feel part of the change of RUclips so thank you
Why is the description feature for external URLs, especially affiliate marketing URLs, not working on shorts? I suggest enabling this feature similar to what is available for long-form videos. Shorts are an excellent way to promote affiliate products, but without the ability to include a link, it does not benefit the person posting the short if the objective is to drive traffic to the affiliate site and potentially generate a purchase.
I wish that shorts didn't have to have keywords, tags or hashtags. I feel like more people would view shorts if they were random instead of what youtube thinks we want to watch and it would get more people watching sorts if all shorts were just shorts. Plus it would build new channels easier and faster then more people would join.
A long-form video in under 60 seconds without being a Short. At 53 seconds, it is one of the shortest long-form videos I've encountered for a reputable, non-entertainment channel. I may try some short long-form video myself to see the performance.
You should add a way for us to turn audience made clips on our longform videos into shorts. So longform oriented creators can benefit from shorts without making shorts specific content.
You are only always talking about new features, but you never tell us what of the plethora of problems that date back YEARS!!!!! you might have finally fixed. And please don't ask me to do your QC for you. That is what a QC team is for with experts whom you pay. I hope to hear a positive response for once to criticism, rather than censoring me more as punishment for speaking up.

My views are way down since they started pushing shorts. Subscribers tell me they have to search my name to find my videos. Some thought I had quit.
What about fixing the random automated strikes on videos that don't break TOS and appeals that get auto-denied 10 seconds later?
I have two suggestions:

I'm not a fan of this feature for shorts, I like how Shorts was different from TT and IG, but I will try once I have it available to see what happens.

As of now, there are no plans to bring remixing functionality to PCs, but we'll keep you posted if that changes.
