How to configure FactoryTalk Optix to communicate with a Logix controller

- A quick demonstration of how to configure communications to a Logix controller using FactoryTalk Optix Studio.
If using a CPU with an embedded Ethernet port, such as the 5370 and 5380 CompactLogix CPUs, or the 5580 ControlLogix CPU, the route will simply be the IP address.
If using an Ethernet module, such as the 1756-EN2T to bridge to the CPU, the route needs to be IP_Address\Backplace\CPU_chassis_slot_number (i.e. 10.10.1.11\Backplane\0).
The RA EtherNet/IP Driver supports Logix Controller families with firmware versions 32.00 and later.
The 1756-ENET, 1756-ENBT, and 1756-EWEB modules are not supported with the FactoryTalk Optix RA EtherNet/IP driver.

How to communicate micrologix 1400 a series with FT OPTIX
You will need v1.4 or higher of Optix Studio, and choose the Micro Controller Driver, it supports the Micro800 and MicroLogix 1400 Ethernet communications.
Excellent video!! I had a question, I am creating a project with a Micrologix 1400 and I wanted to create an application in Optix, but I cannot communicate them. Are they incompatible?
Micrologix would need to use Modbus TCP protocol to communicate with Optix. Similar to what I show in the Optix with Micro800 video.
With the release of version 1.4 coming out it will support communication to Mico800 and Micrologix 1400 controllers. This release for version 1.4 should be May 2024.
You had mentioned that for FT Optix to communicate to a Logix controller is must be firmware version 32 or higher. Can you provide any documentation for that? FT Optix is designed to be widely compatible with logix controllers.

Support down to version 20 will be coming soon. It may be in the 1.4 release hopefully next week. We shall wait and see.
That's good! I had not seen anything on that, but makes sense, it probably just needed to be tested and validated back to V20 by Rockwell.
Hello. I just can't seem to connect. I use CompactLogix 5370, connected directly to embedded port, yet whenever I type the IP and try to view online tags it always shows an error:
Exception caught: Bad conversion.
Do you know what might be causing it?
What is the version of the firmware running in the 5370 CPU? Is it V32 or higher?

Not sure, I can't find any info on "Bad Conversion" in the help file or knowledge base. Perhaps try an offline import of your tags from the ACD file to see if you get the same error - it could be something with the application and not the Ethernet communications.
