knobber Always a huge fan of Level 42 since they came out with "Something About You". To me, in the 80's they were one of the top groups along with the best of the best of that era.
knobber:... they did with me ol' lad!!! I was nuts about 'em! Bought everything they released and bought it on both vinyl and cassette! Everything on video and I was there at a sold out Wembley Arena the night they recorded the vid of Live At Wembley, which I bought very shortly after. Great band, genuine musicians and fantastic music. I hear Lavel 42, and I could almost weep for the kids today and the soul-less, awful, mass-produced sounding, all-sounds-the-same, sterile, autotuned crap they have foisted on them!
I do not know about the public but, as for me (as a young man, I was deeply involved playing music actively), the performance of Level 42 is a real treat. Particularly, I enjoy the energy-power-station. aka, the drummer. He is, with the bass guitar player certainly, something exquisite indeed. Yet, all of them are doing fine in a well designed orchestration. Their live performance stands second to none. My congrats guys for making my time.
+ApriliaGuy1969 Apsoloutely agree never seen anyone who can play slap bass that can come close to him, Jorge Casas from believe it or not from Miami sound machine is a very good slap bassist but Mark is King of them all pardon the punn!!
@@seye100 I play bass for 35 years and I masterd lessons in love include the singing but that's it. I only can play that song because it's guitar chords he's playing note for note. He is just fantastic
Level 42 qué extraordinaria banda!!! Con una riqueza musical y con ese sonido espectacular que Mark King creó, un genio con el bajo. Una clase Maestra de cómo se toca en vivo. Recordando desde Perú 🇵🇪🇵🇪
Surprisingly almost EVERY 80's singer can sing and still sound like the 80's if not better. Because in that ERA you genuinely could sing and not auto tuned.
@@christopherasuncion4671 I'll drop just one name Milli Wanilli. The group that got hounded out of the music biz because they couldn't sing themselves. It was that frowned upon - it literally put them out of the music industry. Sure there were playback in the 80s too, in some cases, but artist had to be able to sing in case they were on TV programs who based their live acts upon the artists actually playing LIVE. Like on David Letterman, Conan, SNL and whatever you had of real quality TV shows. Its a joy to watch old clips from Letterman or Johnny Carson, when the artists performed live, then later was invited to sit down and TALK about their music.
+Vicky Netherton Its a really hard Bassline to nail down because of its tempo from start to finish. Ive played Bass for over 30 years and still struggle with this Bassline :-D
Got the up most respect for these lads my boyhood dream came true Wednesday 13th October in Nottingham what a show!!! musicians these guys are AWESOME top perfermonce better than CD thank you L42
This song has always had what I consider my near fave Synth and Bass Line. Now I am even more impressed with the musicianship! Damn. Addressing the crowd, chewing gum, going to town on that bass. I don't know how he does it? This band is under rated. In the USA I heard Something About You a lot more than this track, but it is my favorite! Loved the video as a kid.
What a talented bunch of musos especially Mr King who is a sterling geezer and a gentleman. I was honoured to share a stage with him at the Rock Gala Albert Hall
Really looking forward to seeing Level 42 perform at this years Rewind Festival. One of the best 80's bands in my opinion. Praying that this years Festival isn't cancelled due to Covid.
The electrical tape on the thumb helps to provide a sympathetic vibration or "bounce" so some energy is conserved. That and turning the bass boost up so he has to loose less energy.
Saw them live some years ago in a small venue, and they played amazingly!! one of the top bands from the 80s era, no doubt. The new drummer is also incredible!! :))
Absolutely brilliant, I love Level 42, Mark's vocals is amazing😘😘. When are you going to come to Dublin Mark, soon I hope, have loved your music since I was a teenager. I pray it will be soon, please Mark and the rest of the band too 🙏🙏😘😘♥️♥️
Bat20One:... yup! And why? Great music, REAL music, played properly, by fantastic musicians (and from a time when chart music was better generally anyway!)
everyone talks about how amazing mark’s bass playing, and it is, but let’s not forget HE’S SINGING ON TOP OF IT
AND chewing gum at the same time!!! That is some serious multi-tasking!
And chewing gum also....
Yep, and ad-libbing crowd chat.
.
.
.
And chewing gum.
Chewing gum to keep his mouth moist. Moist I tell you!
amazing bass , singing , AND chewing gum at the same time . get it Mark ! :)
Level 42 never ever got the respect they deserved
knobber Always a huge fan of Level 42 since they came out with "Something About You". To me, in the 80's they were one of the top groups along with the best of the best of that era.
knobber neither has God. Without him there would be no level 42.

Phil Gould, original drummer, underated, one of the Uks finest drummers ever.
Mark King sounds better now than he did in the 80's, needless to say his bass playing is second to none.
These guys are not just a band, there musicians. You hear lots of great bands and then level 42 takes the stage and takes it to a whole new level.
Sensational the Level 42 I love !!🎶😍👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

Mr Mark King Is IMO one of the greatest Bass players ever!!! Ive played Bass for over 30 years and still cannot nail the Bass half as good as him.

I think somewhere on you tube there is a bit about Mr King and how he plays his bass

real musicians playing real music...what a concept Awesome! Loved the 80'z
God, how tight are these guys live, awesome up-lifting tunes.
This is Damned good. Brought a tear to my eye. Pete UK
It's refreshing to see a 80's band where the vocalist is still looking & sounding good, perhaps even better 30 years later.

What an amazing band, what an amazing song done live, well done fellas
This band and especially this song, changed my life. I fell in love with this type of bass playing and this rhythm.
Still one of the best songs of the 80’s actually the best song of 86 .... I was 16 years old
Best song they ever did, one the most memorable mark king songs of all times♥️
Level 42 is a kick ass band, live and in the studio. Mark King's a monster bass player. Love their new drummer as well.
El grupo Level 42, a pesar de los años, no cambian su tonalidad y vigor de interpretación ......mis felicitaciones y muy bella canción de mi juventud.
Fucking love that these guys are still smashing it. That bass playing is fucking tight!
I absolutely lovr this somg!! My dad got me hooked on this at a very young age am now 28 and this bass line gets me smiling!!

Terrific, ace Bass , love the way the Tempo gradually climbs then drops back.Super stuff.

How the f*ck he spend 4 minutes doing this freaking slaps? I can't, I just can't ._.
