I worked on this film as a Line Tester. A job that no longer exists in Animation. As far as I know. Been 25 yrs since I worked in the industry. Made some great friends & still in touch 👍
Interesting documentary. It's a shame that there are no documentaries in any An American Tail DVD! I'm feeling the awesome job that the artists did on this sequel. I know "An American Tail: Fievel Goes West" is the best visual film in the franchise. Everything is awesome! But... it still that An American Tail is the best AAT film. :) All the emotions that we can feel in the first film.
If Amblimation still existed, Steven Spielberg’s studio would joint the films by Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar Animation Studios, DreamWorks Animation (also founded by Spielberg), and Blue Sky Studios as some of the best animated films of the century. Imagine if they switched to computer-animation.
I'm not quite sure, I've never returned to the area since---but during the second world war the same building had something to do with developing fighter aircraft--there was a plaque at ground level, near the lifts.
Rab Smith That's pretty cool you guys made a really great movie. It was probably hard competing with Beauty and The Beast but you guys still made a great film.
I work at home, drawing and rendering cartoons by computer. Today's cartoon market is global, many cartoonists just work from home [not so much animators, who have to join a studio] and the original artwork never leaves your house---it's digital files that are e-mailed. Thank you for your interest!

yes it was made in West London, in Acton, at the top floor of a block of flats.

I worked as an inbetweener on this film. It was a depressing time for me at least. Others seemed to like it though.
