Can you explain the significance of the "recess above ceiling" in the Section diagram at 0:19? I see it in the on-site guide, but it's not explained there.

In my experience some of these fittings are absolutely fine until you open them up, the clips and mounts get so brittle when they are a few years old, so just opening it to check its specs and cable entry might ruin its rating.

Very true but they are so cheap nowadays. I even put one up in the loft. And LED fittings are cheap. Chances are if the clips are brittle etc / break, just fit a new fitting. Job done.

I'd only be worried if it was a normal fluorescent batten instead of a sealed weatherpack which is often used outside in the rain!

I wouldn't even flinch looking at that, bit ugly but it's an IP fitting and it's not getting hot jets or water directly on it, just splashing. As you cover RCD would be what I'd need to see as it's not selv

The 3 shower heads would be more of a concern than any IP rating 😳

I went to a shower once they said they kids were getting tingle in the shower i said dont use it seriously on the phone.Went there on a 45amp fuse no rcd.240v cellertaped bulb fitting in shower on wall and metal shower housing screwed to wall and found screw went through the 45amp 6mm cable in the wall. The whole thing became live when someone shut the door.U couldnt rite it unbileivable condemed the lot.3 kids in house showering every night wtf.And to top it an exposed coper pipe going to shower which was earthed all they had to do is touch that and metal work on door the same time.

Probably safer than an electric shower you can spray water on.

Since when is that called a batten light ? and whether it has any rating at all, depends on cable entries etc etc....many invalidate any ratings by drilling holes and not properly sealing or ensuring their integrity
