Let’s not forget, Tyson was a heavy betting favorite for this fight. People were scared that Holyfield was going to get badly hurt in this fight due to his past medical history with his heart. The press row of boxing experts picked Tyson to win, out of 24 of them, 23 of them picked Tyson. So let’s stop acting like Holyfield was expected to win, it was a SHOCKING upset victory for Holyfield. So all this, if Tyson was in his Prime talk has to end. What if both were in their prime? Holyfield would always be a nightmare matchup for Tyson. Either one was capable of getting a victory over the other in their prime.
The betting press and these so-called boxing experts at once underestimated Holyfield and overestimated the ability of a post-prison and diminished Tyson to recapture his best form. While Holyfield was undoubtedly a great fighter, and won this one fair and square despite the odds, I strongly feel that Tyson of the late 80s comes out on top. Mike had already started to deteriorate technically after the firing of Rooney back 1988, but he remained sustained by youth.
@Edwin Betancourt Jr Do you remember a fighter by the name of James "Quick" Tillis? He fought both Tyson and Holyfield in their prime. When asked about Tyson and Holyfield, he said that Holyfield had better hand speed than Tyson. When James made that statement, it made me think, well Evander might have defeated Mike in 1991.
Post-prison Tyson beat Frank Bruno faster than when he did in his prime. True is, Tyson just faced an opponent who was better than the ones he faced before
@@anthonytonyduckscorallo1361 tillis never fought as well as he did against tyson same with douglas.....tillis was well over the hill by the time he fought holyfield ....and tyson had only been a pro for a year when he fought season veteran tillis who as i said came in at his best ever and tyson had nevr gone more than 6 rds at that point..... you can tell tyson was unsure about going full steam for 10 rds straight which was why he didnt punch much on the inside to take a rest and accepted all of tillis' clinches! Its all psychological, look at tyson vs green next fight, he went hard for 10 rds while green ran and held the whole fight tyson from 87-88 would destroy tillis, tyson was still green when they fought.....have you seen tyson vs tillis exhibition 1987?
It wouldn’t have been considered an upset if all the facts had been known. The press were clearly unaware of the realities Holyfield’s and Tyson’s history + Tyson’s skill erosion and psychological decline. Even 1988 Tyson would’ve had his hands full against any version of Holyfield too
This is "Hero" Evander Hollyfield versus "Villian" Mike Tyson ❤ (Batman VS The Joker) Good triumphs Evil after awhile 💯 Glad Mike got his karma because he was in a really dark place back when he got out of prison & his Ego was making him make horrible decisions but now hes the most humble nicest inspiring wise role model that u can find these days ❤ just like he was before he went to prison or let Don King turn him into a ruthless animal that literally made Mike hate everything including himself 💯 Kid Dynamite 🧨 Tyson (1981-1985) Iron Mike "Hero" Tyson (1986-1990) Nightmare "Villian" Tyson (1995-1998) Fallen "depressed & exhausted drugged out" Tyson (1999-2004) Wisdom "Master Guru" Tyson (2006-2024)❤
Thing is as great as holyfield is tyson didnt train for the fight and lasted 11 rounds, he only fought a hand full of rounds since his release from prison and he wasn't able to box in prison at all. I do believe if the tyson of 86 to 88 was in with holyfield it would of been a different result. It would of always been a hard fight but the tyson with Rooney was different. And stronger I believe after prison he looked stronger but whn he was with Rooney he was a machine and couldn't be pushed bk. After prison he was able to be pushed bk. Great upload dude.
Tyson fanboys and their excuses. It was Holyfield who was considered far past it, his career was on a downward spiral which is the only reason Tyson took that fight against him.
He went life and death with journeyman james tillis under Kevin Rooney, Also couldn't even knock out club fighters like mitch green or joe ribalta under Rooney, Guys who wouldn't even make the top 100 heavyweights of all time literally went 10-12 rounds with 80's kevin rooney trained Tyson. This is fact. He was a great fighter but insanely overrated.
Tyson was special but was never tested until Holyfield berbick spinks etc not all time greats in anyone's book Holyfield is top 5 of all time without doubt
Evander as a light heavyweight sparred Tyson as heavyweight. Tyson was around 17 at the time. Holyfield was 21. Good sparring. Holyfield won it. I think Evander would have always beaten Mike. He would have beaten him to the punch. Beating a boxer to the punch is the key to win a fight. Here's a fight that would be a classic: George Foreman (in his prime) V's Tyson in his prime Big George would have won, but a classic surely...
Id bet everything i own money house cars everything that a pre prison prime mike tyson would have destroyed holyfeild in his prime within 4 rounds but sadly it never happened mike was dangerous and a trained killer that was hungry its just a fact
@@jupiter-8405 everyone knows that tyson didn't took the Douglas fight seriously. He was partying hard but we all know that if they would off fight 10 more fight mike would off ko buster 10 times.
