the song and its lyrics are elements from the first book "tales of earthsea". ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ BOOK SPOILERS BELOW~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ the basic plot is he releases a nameless shadow into the world and the two are linked to one another. in order for the Ged ( the wizard, aka sparrowhawk) to undo what hes done he must name the nameless + silent shadow. a wise wizard told him only he had the power or the capability to accomplish said task, so he travels and travels and travels all alone with no one to aid him on his quest. one of the key plot points is he transforms into a sparrowhawk(an actual bird) to flee from the shadow. Ged can never rest because the shadow invades his dreams and it holds power over him causing him great pain and fear. lastly "in knowing somethings true name you gain power over it" shadow knew Ged's, Ged didn't know its.
I don't get it, Ged is the wizard but isn't the boy who released the shadow unto the world? The boy never transforms into a sparrow. Or did he time travel to aid his past self?

The second book "tombs of athuan"is about ged meeting tenar, the movie is about the 3-4th book very losely based. I love the movie but its not a close adaptation of the books.

Aren't these the words to the song when you watch the movie in sub style instead of dub its weird hearing the subs translation of the song into English instead of it getting adapted to suit the English grammer.
