      Lmao, he said early in the video that it's the weakest in the franchise bruh which is something that most people can definitely agree on. He also said that he was at times pretty bored because he was waiting when for the movie to start so I can assume the first act dragged a bit for him but that doesn't make it as a bad movie because there's still plenty to enjoy here too 🤷

      Disagree. It was great for the first 2 but the third HTTYD movie dropped the ball. It felt rushed, dropped plot points that were set up in the previous film and had an unearned ending that comes out of nowhere. They changed the third movie's story half way through and it shows

      As for the third Dragons movie, I liked it, I just didn't find the villain as good as the previous two. However, Astrid and Hiccup finally getting married? Oh my god, y'all have no idea how swept up I am when I saw that

    • @sebastianrivera3527
      @sebastianrivera3527 2 месяца назад +3

      @@joevictor53 I can respect that, I’m aware a lot of people aren’t fond of the third film. I also believe it’s the weakest of the three but thematically its ending is very much earned imo. Hiccup has learned to grow into his role as a leader of Berk and knows he shouldn’t make a decision for Toothless in whether or not he wants to leave with the light fury. The movie sets up early on that with love comes loss and they both acknowledge that. They learn to lead their two lives separate from each other by embracing change and letting go in favor of a future they both want to pursue that favors growth and freedom. That’s my take on it, but to each their own of course.

    • @HusnaArtz2
      @HusnaArtz2 2 месяца назад +8

      @@sebastianrivera3527 Respectfully disagree. There was no need for the dragons to hide in an underground cavern until the time came where they'd somehow bond with humans because "humans don't deserve them". Hiccup even says that after a decade people stopped believing in dragons. So how could they coexist and learn to get along if dragons aren't around to warm up to? The Christmas short that came out a little while later pretty much proved that it was a bad idea because the newer generation had no prior expectations of dragons, and the only impression they had of them, they got from outdated books painting them as monsters.
      Not to mention hiccup's line at the end of the second film: "And bit by bit, we will change the world". The reason the films ended the way they did is because Dean wanted a reason to include the epilogue from the books "there were dragons when I was a boy", even though the films didn't really set it up that way. They could've had it where toothless wanted independence and to explore the archipelago with the light fury rather than have ALL the dragons suddenly leave. He feels torn because he loves Hiccup, but hiccup eventually encourages him to live his own life however he pleases. They still love and care for each other, and the "with love comes loss" theme is still there. The idea that sometimes relationships get stronger when you spend time apart (more of a "I'll see you around", then a final goodbye".
      You could say Grimmel represents all the evil in the world which is why Hiccup decided it was appropriate to send the dragons away, but vikings according to hiccup "have stubbornness issues". They could deal with people like grimmel if it meant keeping the peace and making friendships with dragons, which is what they were happily doing for 5 years. They spent 50 years fighting dragons who raided their village after all.
      I think there's certainly a lot to like about the film, and I don't necessarily hate it. But I was a diehard fan since the first film came out, and I just feel like it wasn't a satisfying ending for me lol.

    • @sebastianrivera3527
      @sebastianrivera3527 2 месяца назад +1

      @@HusnaArtz2 You make some very fair points and I hadn’t seen it that way before, you’re more than welcome to feel that way. And thank you for the insight. I’m not too informed on the production of the final movie, but I’m a huge fan of how concise the arcs for Hiccup feel between all three films and how they treat his growth in such a mature fashion. Theres lots to love and some things to dislike about the finale, but despite its logical shortcomings I think it caps off what I think is thematically the strongest trilogy Dreamworks has put out, maybe strongest animated trilogy out there even. (In terms of soundtrack, design, narrative, direction, characters etc) In my opinion of course.

    To me, the original Kung Fu Panda is one of the greatest animated movies western media ever produced.
    It is a perfect blend of humor, terror, heart, thrill, action and journey of an underdog. It has amazing dialogues, very interesting world building even you don't get to see a lot and a great antagonist. Tai Lung captures the essence of a hero gone villain perfectly! Not to mention the development of Po is solid. I don't know how they captured everything in the run time..
    I can watch this move a 100 times without getting bored of it.

      My only issue with the first is I feel like Tai Lung should have had some kind of redemption, or at least Shi Fu should have grieved in some way after his death. Tai Lung was his son, he went bad, but he's still his son. Maybe he mourned him years ago, but it still feels like there's something missing there emotionally. He doesn't even have to be redeemed as such, if Poe has simply defeated him and sent him back to prison then Tai Lung could have seen that he was never the dragon warrior and all the evil he did was for nothing. Maybe we see him again in a sequel and he's reformed there. There's a depth to that character and his relationship with Shi Fu that's not explored adequately.

    • @ZeeshanRFQ
      @ZeeshanRFQ 2 месяца назад

      @@alexanderforbes1452 the concept of Tai Lung was a character who just snapped one day. Him being irredeemable was the danger to begin with and the reason I like that character was because he wasn't just "evil" he actually thrived to be a warrior and protector of the valley in his perspective he was given false promises.
      In the sequel Shen was more like a mustache twirling villain to me, I couldn't buy into his character and master Kai was more or like similar.
      To me a villain has to be the protagonist of his own perspective to be sold so his motives would make sense more than his evil does.

      Every time Jack Black is in a movie, I'm more on anticipating the soundtrack because oh my god, his cover on Britney Spears' "Baby One More Time" was too good! I never thought a rock version of the song with Jack Black in the vocal could work but here we are and I'm grateful to see that it worked so well. Britney would be so proud

    • @15Candles
      @15Candles 2 месяца назад +7

      To Awkwafina's defense, I only find her funny in Crazy Rich Asians and she was pretty okay in Quiz Lady. But of course my favourite performance of her was when she was cast against type in The Farewell playing a more subtle quiet performance that really showcase what a true actress she really is when she took a risk like that to do something extremely different rather than your typical Awkwafina role

    • @silvertrees6421
      @silvertrees6421 2 месяца назад +4

      I will say, it seems like her voice is amped up more in the trailers. I didn’t her find her voice nearly as grating when entering the movie.
      But, with that being said, it’s no Puss In Boots The Last wish. Out of all the KFP movies, this one has the lowest budget and that kinda shows especially when you compare character designs like the wolves and bulls to previous movies.
      Don’t get your hopes too high, but if you like the movie, kudos to you.

      Y'know, it's interesting: I actually think Awkwafina could really work for animation because her voice is so expressive. I think her problem, other than just general overexposure, *is* that she plays the same schtick over, and over, and over. With her voice, I feel like she could do a lot more

  • @Patowtow
    @Patowtow Месяц назад +1

    I'm honestly so confused by the mixed reviews. I thought this was easily the best of the sequels!
    One thing that always bothered me about the previous films, was that Po somehow kept regressing as a character - never truly embodying the kung fu master he was, but instead always being portrayed as an incompetent idiot who somehow got away with winning fights, despite his clumsiness. After 16 years, this is the first film where Po is FINALLY allowed to be a proper badass!!! That alone should be making all fans go absolutely crazy!!
    But on top of that, this was the most solid film in the franchise from a technical point of view:
    1. The cinematography and animation were great (it probably had some of the most beautiful and interesting shots/visuals in the entire franchise).
    2. The worldbuilding was really strong (it introduced a wider variety of characters and settings than the previous two combined, and it all felt very organic too, which deserves huge props!).
    3. Not having the Five was an enormous risk that required massive BALLS on their part, which paid off hugely by allowing the film to feel fresh and different from the rest...
    Anyway, I could go on. I almost didn't go watch this at the cinema after seeing what some people were saying. But I'm glad I did! I went into it with very low expectations, but I must say I was very pleasantly surprised!

    It was a good film. Fun, but I always thought there was something missing in it. It didn’t have the same zazz and impactful moments that made the first three films special. I rate it a 7/10.
    But I can’t critique the music. Hans Zimmer is amazing.

    I thought it was pretty good, like he said definitely enjoyable but also a bit boring at times, fighting wise it was good but lacked a bit compared to previous entries, and it kind of felt small? but maybe that’s because we are kind of confided to a few main characters, the ending was also a bit disappointing but also good at the same time, overall worth the watch and a solid entry, i’d rate it 7.8/10

    I saw the movie and I thought it was okay. (Readers, if you don’t want spoilers then don’t read.)
    I really liked the idea of Po having to choose a new dragon warrior and at first not accepting the change. As well as the Chameleon who summoned the all of the vanquished foes and Zhen becoming the new warrior.
    My only complaint is that I feel like the final battle between the Chameleon, Po and Zhen seemed a little rushed. I feel like they could’ve done more with Viola’s character, with a couple more battles after Po’s second (and last) fight in the movie.
    I also kind of wished Lord Shen had at least a few lines in the film. Maybe he could’ve said “Thank you” to Po and Zhen right before he went back to the spirit realm.
    But overall it was a good movie.
    (Edit, readers you don’t have to agree with me or reply to my comment as this is only my opinion.)

    My brother and I saw the movie yesterday after over a year rewatching the trilogy along with the non canon spin-off shows (notably Legends of Awesomeness and Paws of Destiny) and I had a lot of fun even though he was skeptical about how they're gonna continue the franchise after this. He asked "How are they gonna go from there?" and I was like, "That's a good question." I hope the Furious Five get more to do in the 5th and 6th movies considering they've been put under a bus ever since Paws of Destiny and Dragon Knight. Only time will tell though.

    Chris, besides your Kung Fu Panda 4 review, I'd like to know your take on 3D movies in 2018 - 2024, I heard you're not a fan, I really enjoy 3D films (when done right) and yeah, the technology has it's flaws and I understand the negative comments from viewers. It needed to be tweaked, changed, and improved upon before bring dropped as a consumer product, Yet.... the best viewing experience I personally had was visiting / watching a Dolby Cinema presentation of Ready Player One. I feel that 3D movies need a perfectly darkened environment, perfect contrast and colour / luminous and very little eye flicker/ strain. The Dolby Cinema "Experience" blew me away. Would be interested to hear your feelings about the state of 3D movies now and in the future.

    This film was pretty solid, better than the 3rd film IMO, i can also forgive that it's like a start of the new trilogy or whatever, hopefully the 5th film will be the greatest film in the franchise, the first problem i have with the film was like they didn't give special roles or speaking lines with Lord Shen and Kai, but at least Tai Lung had sorta like a redemption arc in the film or smth, the futious 5 didn't even appear in the film, and i think they kinda greatly explained their absence until the ending where they appeared (spoiler alert!!!) but at least my dissapointed was redeemed in that moment, and the second problem i have that master oogway never even appeared even for a quick cameo in the end during Shifu's inner peace moment, it ruins the scene with like instead of oogway appearing, they had po's heads appear as like iner voices, a gag that was in earlier in the film, but i prefer this film to like the 3rd film, this was a more solid film overall for me.

  • @enriquemiranda37
    @enriquemiranda37 2 месяца назад

    It was entertaining to say the least. I believe that the film would be great introduction for the new generation to come. Though I think the main problem with the movie was the pacing. The dialogue in this movie had potential, but didn't feel natural at all. Watching the movie felt like they had to finish each scene at a short time frame, which lowered the impact of the development in the characters. Animation wise, it's new, nothing bad with new, but I personally didn't like how different it was compared to the last three movies, but I know it isn't bad, just my preference. All around, I'd say the movie stands at a solid 7/10, it was great, yet I felt it could have used more refining.
