    We have witnessed history in these 2 iconic game 7 battles.
    The largest comeback in a game 7, and the absolute best shooting performance ever in the playoffs. Last night was one for the ages.
    But let’s start from the beginning, as Denver started this game exactly how they wanted. Nikola Jokic dominated the glass, reaching a double double of 13 points and 15 rebounds by halftime, 5 of which were on the offensive end. This led to a 12 to 2 second chance points discrepancy.
    And it felt like it’s going to be another one of those nights, where he was toying with the defensive player of the year.
    Jamal Murray unlike the previous games in this series was cooking right from the start, getting to his spots, and playing with ease on his way to 24 1st half points on 53.3% shooting from the field and 60% from 3PT range.
    The Nuggets pulled all the right strings and had control over the game, as they headed into the locker rooms up by 15 at the half.
    On the other side, KAT and McDaniels were the only ones ready to put up a fight, scoring 13 and 10 points respectively on decent shooting efficiency.
    KAT took advantage of the mismatch every time he saw one, patiently working the smaller defenders for some quality shots.
    But their main weapon, Anthony Edwards was a shadow of his game 6 performance, as he couldn’t hit anything in this game, contested or wide open.
    ANT shot 1 of 7 for only 4 points in the first half. And Minnesota struggled as a team overall, as they shot just 31.6% from the field.
    Things looked a bit worse for the Timberwolves early in the 3rd when…
    Down by 20 on the road, with all the momentum on Denver’s side, the Timberwolves had all the odds stacked against them, but nobody could imagine that what started to unfold was history in the making.
    Minnesota went on a 28-9 run to close out the 3rd quarter which was totally opposite of the previous one, as this whole game was a microcosm of the entire series. The Nuggets were unrecognizable in this one, as they shot a miserable 26.3% from the field, it’s like they fell asleep after going up by 20. And after this 3 by Edwards, it was on. They knew they had them against the ropes.
    And the entire arena was in disbelief when the Timberwolves took over the lead in the 4th.
    In an unexpected turn of events, it was the role players of Naz Reid, Rudy Gobert and Jaden Mcdaniels that carried the offensive load during these crucial times.
    Rudy stuns everyone with this wild turnaround and with this going in, Minnesota believes that maybe this is their day, and they can complete the upset.
    But most importantly, their hounding defense stepped when it mattered the most, absolutely putting a lid on the basket.
    Wow, Naz Reid delivers big time on both ends of the court.
    And after another turnover by Jamal, Edwards hits the dagger to put the Wolves up by 10 with 3 minutes to go, and everyone started to realize that it was over.
    Jokic and Murray had one last push to try and get back, making it a 5 point game, but then…
    It’s all over, the champs have fallen and Minnesota completes the biggest game 7 comeback in NBA history.
    History repeats itself as this came on the same exact day 20 years after KG and company advanced to the western conference finals in a game 7 showdown against the Kings.
    On rategame, the app that I’m a part of, we score each game by how interesting they were, and this one was a solid 8.6 for me. Download the app from the link in the description and join us in rating and reviewing these games.
    Moving on to New York, as I was hoping that the Garden crowd would lift my Knicks to a hot start in game 7.
    But I was staggered when the exact opposite started to happen, as Indiana opened the game on an unbelievable 76% shooting from the field.
    It seemed like everything they threw at the basket went in, and despite the fact that the Knicks themselves were solid in this 1st quarter, it seemed like the Pacers unlocked god mode.
    And it didn’t help that OG Anunoby did a Willis Reed move.
    For the ones that don’t know, this means that OG got back from injury to start this game, only to get the crowd fired up, as he knew he couldn’t go, and quickly sat down.
    Hart is playing injured as well, on top of all the other injuries that the Knicks had.
    So, as crazy as it sounds, I was thankful that New York was only down by 8 at the end, and thought to myself, Indiana can’t keep up this pace. Right?!
    In a mind blowing shooting display, the Pacers went 76 and a half percent in the second quarter.
    In 20 years of watching the NBA, I hadn’t seen anything similar to this.
    Tyrese Haliburton chucking up wild threes, Pascal Siakam was automatic from midrange, and then Indiana could also get to the rim and finish inside, it was an all around spectacle. Just not for me and the MSG crowd.

      I don’t think it’s coaching related. Last night really showed the difference between the NBAs regular season vs playoffs officiating. Calls they made all year weren’t going the nuggets way, lots of confused “hands in the air” moments from the nuggets. I wish the league would call games consistently, not change the calls because “it’s the playoffs”. The nuggets are a great textbook team, relying on fouls and getting the the line. Minnesota took twice as many foul shots as Denver. And they were in the bonus with 8+ minutes left

This was expected to be a super tough series for Denver, with a high chance of losing, and to be fair the Timberwolves were actually more likely to win it. We just had to wait and see for confirmation. I still don't think the difference between the teams is that big, and it was definitely shocking to see Denver give up that many games the way they did, just as it was seeing Minnesota give up the games they lost the way they did. It was a very strange series indeed. But definitely not one to have guessed Denver was going to be clearly superior.

      I think they've gotten great from what they showed by winning a championship and having two seasons of outstanding play. Individually they aren't close to superstars (anyone not Jokic), but they are good enough to assemble one of the best teams in the league. Though this seems like the situation they were in 2+ seasons ago when everyone knew they weren't getting past any superstar led team, in reality they are way better now, best of the crop better, than they were back then.

    The fact that the mavs have a better team but yet everybody is confident that the wolves will win this series is just insane, goes on to show no amount of help luka has and how much he's underachievimg.

    • @johnpaulgonzalez9016
      @johnpaulgonzalez9016 24 дня назад +1

      They answered all the challenges leading up to their match up now. Those trades were damn right perfect for the over all system of the Mavs. A stretch 4 that can guard the perimeter in PJ, and a pick n roll, defensive big in Gafford.
      Clippers vs Mavs = Battle of Chemistry and perimeter defense
      Thunder vs Mavs = Battle of Pace and Experience
      Wolves vs Mavs = Battle for Board Control and guards.
      The so called help Luka has is just what he needs. They might not be big names, but they fill up gaps in their offensive system. In fact they had that with Brunson and Porzingis when they were still on the team, egos just got in the way. A stretch big that can space the floor, and a point guard that plays hard on both ends, then perimeter defenders that can space and shoot the 3 when Luka gives them the ball. Since Brunson and Porzingis left, they tried replacing those 2 with Dinwiddie and Christian Wood, disaster. To put it simply, this Mavs team is the most complete team they had since the 2011 championship, why? they all know their role, and they got the experience as well. Personally what they lack right now, is a 6th man and height.

      @@johnpaulgonzalez9016 and that's what still confuses me, like this mavs team is so so so much better on paper than the t'wolves, but still it feels like they won't be able to get over the hump. Similar to 2022 how the mavs were a much better team on paper than the warriors but then Steph happened, and now Luka even has arguably the greatest skilled player of all time "on paper", but still it feels like wolves would end them in 5. Maybe the team around Luka isn't the problem, it's his playstyle or he himself is.

    • @rojipascual7206
      @rojipascual7206 24 дня назад

      @@rams3737 If the Mavs win over the wolves, then I think Luka's playstyle is actually more impactful than Jokic. The Joker winning the MVP based on advanced statistics and team standing actually has lots of factors that affected it including him being a big man, hence, better shooting percentages since he only shoots majority of his shots in the paint. This Mavs against the Wolves isn't better on paper since the Wolves have had a better season ranking, sure they have nearly the same amount of bigs and I am pretty sure that length is a key factor in their series. I just hope everyone gets enough rest to bless the viewers a fair and enjoyable matchup. This, in my opinion, is my most-anticipated matchup.

    • @rams3737
      @rams3737 24 дня назад

      @@rojipascual7206 I wouldn't call it more impactful than jokic's and nobody should, Jokic pretty much does everything be it setting screen moving off ball(little bit, despite being a big) and is more involved in the offense rather than just passing it to corner 3s like Luka. Also the MVPs are a testament to his team first playstyle rather stats first playstyle and also despite being a slow footed big he was part of a great defensive team during that championship run, which Luka cannot be proud of as he's a much more capable defender but is still lazy.
