Organic basil found in the produce section of the grocery store....grown aquaponically/ hydroponically....can it be planted? will it grow in dirt? let's give it a try!
oh my that sounds great....I also have a couple vids on making Mozzarella cheese at home...try the easy version first...(I have easy and intermediate)...then let's get some tomatoes, basil, olive oil, oh my...a party!
Will do! it's going strong right now and i hardened off enough to be outside day and night...the weather is now very hot so I have it in partial shade...I'll do an update when it's a month old or so.
That is so cool! I always wanted to try to grow a store Basil and get it to produce more! So funny that you lived in Milwaukie Oregon as well... I lived in that area and really quite close to the Post Office for a while, I think I maintained my post office box for about 5 years or so. Anyways I enjoy your videos... I did hit the LIKE button, but it still says zero so I dunno what is going on here on RUclips!? Thanks for posting this video! :)
I bought a grocery store live basil plant just like this one several years ago, sat it in the kitchen window and harvested leaves off it for a long time . The seeds that fell into the planter and I harvested didn't ever germinate so purchased another basil plant a few weeks ago. Remember it is a live plant in its own little pot but not the cut stems.
Milwaukie is your hometown?! I'm from the other Milwaukee! Small world 🤣🍺🧀🌭 Had no idea Bob's Red Mill was from there. Very cool. As for hydroponics, the only experience I have is with the AeroGarden, which is a really fun little thing if you ever happen to pick one up. I think you could just take a knife to slice through the roots that are conjoined, though part of me winces at doing so like I'm hurting the plant somehow. I'm no expert, though!
hi Mike, I don't see why they wouldn't seal Tattler lids...the lids are thicker for sure but I think that would be ok...you might need to warm up the rubber ring a bit (maybe in some hot water then dry) just to make it playable. That said I've never done it myself.
Nice, healthy plant!
it's doing great so far!
Nicely done..
Thank you! Cheers!
After watching this, I feel inspired to make a Italian Pizza or Crustini with basil leaves on top! :)

I would love to see a follow up video in a few weeks to see how it's growing? and if you harvested leaveas?

@vickenator the Basil is doing well...next time I think I will slice it like u suggested
You gonna clone it? I started doing that last year and it works great to keep the fresh basil going all season long
great idea, but since i'm not here during most of the winter it would just die. :(
Do you know if a vacuum sealer can seal tattler lids ?
