Doctor Who is a British science fiction television programme produced by the BBC since 1963. The programme depicts the adventures of a Time Lord called "the Doctor", an extraterrestrial being, to all appearances human. The Doctor explores the universe in a time-travelling space ship called the TARDIS. Its exterior appears as a blue British police box, which was a common sight in Britain in 1963 when the series first aired. Accompanied by a number of companions, the Doctor combats a variety of foes while working to save civilisations and help people in need.
The show is a significant part of British popular culture, and elsewhere it has gained a cult following. It has influenced generations of British television professionals, many of whom grew up watching the series. The programme originally ran from 1963 to 1989. There was an unsuccessful attempt to revive regular production in 1996 with a backdoor pilot, in the form of a television film titled Doctor Who. The programme was relaunched in 2005, and since then has been produced in-house by BBC Wales in Cardiff. Doctor Who has also spawned numerous spin-offs, including comic books, films, novels, audio dramas, and the television series Torchwood (2006-2011), The Sarah Jane Adventures (2007-2011), K-9 (2009-2010), and Class (2016), and has been the subject of many parodies and references in popular culture.
Thirteen actors have headlined the series as the Doctor. The transition from one actor to another is written into the plot of the show with the concept of regeneration into a new incarnation, a plot device in which a Time Lord "transforms" into a new body when the current one is too badly harmed to heal normally. Each actor's portrayal is unique, but all represent stages in the life of the same character, and together, they form a single lifetime with a single narrative. The time-travelling feature of the plot means that different incarnations of the Doctor occasionally meet. The Doctor is currently portrayed by Jodie Whittaker, who became the first woman to play the role after Peter Capaldi's exit in the 2017 Christmas special "Twice Upon a Time".
The twelfth series of the British science fiction television programme Doctor Who premiered on 1 January 2020 and aired through to 1 March 2020. It is the second to be led by Chris Chibnall as head writer and executive producer, alongside executive producer Matt Strevens, the twelfth to air after the programme's revival in 2005, and the thirty-eighth season overall. The twelfth series was broadcast on Sundays, except for the premiere episode, continuing on from the eleventh series, after regular episodes of the revived era have previously been broadcast on Saturdays. The series was preceded by a New Year's Day special episode in 2019, "Resolution", instead of the traditional annual Christmas special.
Jodie Whittaker returns for her second series as the Thirteenth Doctor, an incarnation of the Doctor, an alien Time Lord who travels through time and space in the TARDIS, which appears from the outside to be a British police box. It also stars Bradley Walsh, Tosin Cole and Mandip Gill as the Doctor's travelling companions, Graham O'Brien, Ryan Sinclair and Yasmin Khan, respectively. The series follows the Thirteenth Doctor and her companions as they meet a new incarnation of the Master and his destruction of Gallifrey, the return of Jack Harkness, the appearance of an unknown incarnation of the Doctor from before the Time War, the Cybermen, and the secret of the "Timeless Child".
The ten episodes were directed by Jamie Magnus Stone, Lee Haven Jones, Nida Manzoor and Emma Sullivan. Alongside Chibnall, who wrote four of the scripts and co-wrote a further three, the writers include Ed Hime, Pete McTighe and Vinay Patel, who return from writing the previous series, as well as new contributors Nina Metivier, Maxine Alderton and Charlene James. Filming commenced in January 2019 and concluded by November of that year. The series will be followed by a festive special episode.
TARDIS is a fictional time machine and spacecraft that appears in the British science fiction television series Doctor Who and its various spin-offs. The TV show Doctor Who mainly features a single TARDIS used by the central character the Doctor. However, in the series other TARDISes are sometimes seen or used. The Doctor's TARDIS has a number of peculiar features, notably due to its age and personality. While other TARDISes have the ability to change their appearance in order to blend in with their surroundings, the Doctor's always resembles a police box because its chameleon circuit is broken.

The Timelords tend to view their TT-Capsules as nothing more than vehicles, however something strange and wonderful has happened to the Doctor's TARDIS where it has become at least partially sentient. How this has happened remains a mystery. I like the fact that the Doctor leaves the theme and architecture of the TARDIS up to it so it can express itself. He is always surprised at the rooms and corridors he finds. My favorite has to be the 8th Doctor's Butterfly Room.
The Doctor's TARDIS isn't an outliar. All TARDISes are sentient. It's the relationship between the Doctor and her TARDIS is the outlier in that she actually respects the ship as more than just a car to ride.
Or the Doctor’s TARDIS is a tad crazy.

The TARDIS is alive, she has a psychic link to them after the amount of time they've been with her, its only the Doctor and because she is their home, they respect her enough and know enough about her to give her the option of being her own self of which she in turn tries to give the home she thinks they want, hence why they're always happy to see what she's done and appreciate it. I think the reason other TARDIS's didn't, to my knowledge it hasn't been brought up, I think it's because they're supposed to have 6 drivers and they don't have the connection that the Doctor has
Listen to Big Finish's _The Star Men_ to hear the fifth doctor describe the myriad trigonometry / arithmetic / temporal geometric calculations in flight as he trains Adric to fly the ship.

I guarantee that the exact mechanics of how flying the Tardis works change slightly with each Tardis ‘regeneration’. By now, the Tardis is just as mad as The Doctor. I bet he doesn’t even know how to fly it perfectly

I must complain, the fast return should have an additional safety feature as one press and you can accidentally transport yourself back to a dangerous location. It would be far better to link the fast return to chosen safe coordinates.

For real. If the button gets stuck, it’ll send you to the beginning of the universe and all of time and the Big Bang will tear apart your Tardis and you.
It's ok, they fixed that by the Type 45 onwards. And the Mark V style consoles reworked the console layout altogether.
The TARDIS needs a 12 minutes headstart to build up power for dematerialization? That is quite a long time...

I like to think that the Tardis was working at least intermittently during the 1st and 2nd doctors run, and that they just didn't know how to program the coordinates.

What a fabulous video. A brilliant concept for a scifi tv series. There was something like it a few years ago - Doctor something or other but it degenerated into very poor quality pap if I remember correctly.

FYI, the same site also states that the time column can also be correctly referred to as a time rotor, bare in mind the rotor is actually one part of the time column assembly.

It looks great and all but there are a few errors. Ik that the Timelords call it a TARDIS now but didn't they call it a TT Capsule and then Susan named it TARDIS on Earth? This TARDIS is a default meaning some of the controls are not on here. The blue stabilizers were called stabilizers. Tbh it didn't do much bc it was still bumpy.
There's some debate about that because in Time of the Doctor they call it a TARDIS. Also as I explained different desktop themes may have different controls.
