I like almost all your videos, but these shot cycle videos have been absolutely helpful! Explains things for me that I've heard but never been able to understand correctly. Thank you so much!
Nice one. This was a major help, I watched the video a couple of times then shot like this today, conciously setting the shoulder. It was hard going for a while but there was a glimmer of really total shot control and it was coming together but by then my back muscles were much more fatigued after much less time than normal. Today though I got real complete back tension and expansion through the shot several times... it's unmistakable once you really feel it but I can see why it's been so hard to describe. I was sweating in the hold with my bow again as the proper muscles got their proper load, archery has become a workout again, I can feel this is gonna get me off my current plateau and back on an upward curve to the next level. Greg sir you are far and away the best archery communicator on RUclips, this whole shot cycle series is 100% gold.
Thanks. Absolutely outstanding, especially for me. I worked with a coach trying to understand setting the shoulder and never quite got it. Your explanation and demonstration made it clear. Now I can feel the difference. I am anxious to see how much this helps.
Wow!, try'd the shoulder locking, first night very uncomfortable and frustrating BUT.... I seen a glimmer of hope in there. Shot tonight and things were starting to come around, still a lot of work to do but absolutely improved my shot accuracy and consistently!!, Thanks a lot Greg, your videos have been a great help for me......this tip by far the best! Have a great day...
Hi Greg. I have to thank you for this video. You gave me tips how to correct the Mistake I've always made when it comes to back tension... Best wishes from Germany. Ingo
I've never thought about setting the shoulder that way :D Thank you for that explanation Greg. I will teach it further to those i meet at the archery club :)
Thanx for this video. I went stumping today & I tried 'setting the shoulder' & Bloody heck. It actually Works! I Felt much more stable & was hitting more consistantly.
No wonder this video has zero dislikes uptil now. It is an amazing thing you have pointed out. My lead arm used to shake a lot when I was at full draw, and would drop either left or right, depending on where my pressure point on grip was. Therefore, my arrow would fly right or left of where I want it to be. This might be the key I need. Let’s see this Saturday at the range if I can correct everything. I have been taking notes of this series and hope to incorporate it part by part. Maybe in one or two weeks, I might get it down.
This is fun! It seems that if I hold the bow behind my hip my shoulder is dropped automatically as I mentioned (which is how I draw). It's where your shoulder wants to go. If I get the bow out in front of me the shoulder does want to go to the pointing out direction. You can still rotate it before drawing, but then it takes thought to do so. Try it without your bow.
Another Good video Mr. Greg sir. I have no end of trouble with my bow shoulder (as you well know). Being so new to this, trying to remember everything in my shot cycle caused tension in my bow shoulder. By the time I finally let the arrow fly I was stiff as a board and all hunched over. I was just happy to get rid of the damn thing! I have been watching the European 3D finals and noticed that the Swedish shooters have a bent elbow. All great advancements in archery come from Sweden I guess. So, do the new 3D Archery shirts come with a spot already sewn on? See you in the forest man.
Tim Buddy. Do not try to work on all parts of your shot cycle at the same time. It could give you anxiety or target panic, Work one part until it is a good habit. Then work on the next item. :-)
I'm thinking that if you begin your draw with your bow arm hanging down and bring it up while drawing the tension of the draw puts your shoulder in the position you mention automatically. Shooting instinctively...I find that your concentration on the "spot" to be more like a sine wave in that you have it, lose it somewhat during the draw and anchor, and then have to regain it with full concentration just before releasing.
From the many that i have watched, that does not happen. The guy Scott I mentioned draws like that and It did not happen. For what ever reason people tend to push the shoulder away from them.
Im pretty new to Archery, and am loving the series!!! However, this I dont get. I cant even move my shoulder in the way that you are showing/explaining. I can feel what you mean that my shoulder might not be as stable as it could be, but I cant find a way of moving it back and down, I cant get my elbow closer to my body without bending it, the shoulder doesnt move back. Help?
Try thinking of it as "rolling" the shoulder back or try this to get the feeling: 1) Extend out your arm, thumb facing front (palm downward) 2) Rotate the palm so the thumb faces upward you should feel it slightly in your shoulder 3) try it again, this time try doing it with your shoulder more than your hand.
Thank you for addressing things that others fail to talk , please don't stop teaching .

Thanks and amazing isn't it? I shot right handed today and had to force myself to do it and when I did it, i shot really well.
By far, the best video explaining shoulder position that I’ve seen. Thank you!! Can’t wait to try it.

Wow, my instructor is showing me this but I didn't really understand it until watching your video! Thank you, Pathfinder!
Glad I watched this, definitely try to incorporate the shoulder set.
greatly appreciated you sharing your knowledge and experience of archery it's been helping me out big time..
Just doing what others have done for me.

Great advice!

Thanks a lot! I will have to put this into practice, but I have felt something wasn’t completely right with my left shoulder (RH shooter).
I've heard one other person talk about dropping the front shoulder but they never explained it like that I'll have to try it
Go Greg! You trend setter. :-)
He's too far ahead of his time Jeff. Maybe people will watch this in 50 years and get it.
Got a lot of bow shoulder pain 😞 I’m not casting arrows, just drawing and drawing down at home.

Thank you Jeff. I got the nocking part pretty much down, it just seems to fall apart from there....can I just do that and shout "BULLSEYE"?
Front shoulder..... I've been pushing as hard as I could.....
Thank you, after only two evenings, your tips really made a difference.

@@TradArchery101 thanks Ill give it a wirl and practice! Thanks
Trying to stop my bow should from creeping up.
Thx nice video! :-)
But then the shoulders aren’t aligned 🤔
They do not have to be at this point
