Here's a review for this NIKWAX TX.DIRECT Spray on!
I used it on my Dakine Gore-tex jacket.

Nikwax also makes a Tech Wash that is the only thing you should use on Gore-Tex. Regular detergent like Tide etc. will strip the repellency. The Tech Wash is super concentrated so I use just a cap full in a front load washing machine. I’ve never had that wetting out since I changed my ways. I’ll still buy that spray on Nikwax as it was really effective! Nice testing procedure too!

This is incorrect information. According to Gore-Tex, regular detergent is fine and actually recommended.
Thanks for the info..I was wanting to know how to apply the spray..I have a sitka 3 layer gortex. I was just waiting to add a little more protection. Thanks! Oh and make sure you get 3 layer gortex next time

@@AnniieLamy you literally made my day Anniie.....that was such a happy video. Seems to work well. I think I'll try it on mine. Goretex can sometime get soaked but it shouldn't get inside the jacket so you should stay dry inside there

Need to wash with nixwax tech wash only. Then apply spray while jacket still wet then hang up to air dry.

I think the problem was that the jacket Supposed to be really wet, try that next time, I will try to use the same product on my Gore-Tex shoes, thank you for the video
gore-tex is not thje top layer ! its either a laminate or a second layer ! what you are dealing with is restoring DWR , NOT the goretex !
did you wear your goretex as per the instructions to start with, you have to wear layers for the goretex to work, least ways thats how hour goretex jackets on the post were to be worn.. intereting video and nicely presented...

hmmm wonder if your jacket is fake. I thought gortex garment have and extra layer of gortex fabric that keeps it waterproof not make the water bead up??
If it didn't work the first time you wore it, I'd be wondering too.... Is it fake?

spray, not shoot. You shot out a Jet stream of water, too hard for Gortex jacket to work.
Does it have a vortex label, u are only waterproofing the out side of the garment, vortex is inner membrane in the garment.
I dont see a vortex label!
If you were wet inside the jacket either:
The gore membrane failed
The seam tape leaked somehow
Your own sweat vapor exceeded the breathability of the jacket and condensed on the inside.
The DWR will wear off over time which will affect the breathability considerably since the outer fabric wets out so the vapor can’t escape.

Why bother with waterproof garments, dwr, and weather resistors overall? Ur skin is waterproof, windproof, self repairing, breathable, and it last you for life(actual lifetime, not some of that bull crap that goretex “guarantees” for you with a bunch of catches and loopholes where they can yeet you over when you ask for a repair job or replacement).
You can go out in freezing temps with high winds and rain and see how that treats you. The rest of us will be wearing our appropriate garments. Even ancient people's would wear different forms of animal skins to help protect from the elements. Is your skin sun-proof too? 🙄

Humans are very sensitive to fluctuations in temp and moisture, even the most wannabe rugged mountain man won’t go more than a day or two in the wild without clothing or shelter unless to prove a dumb point. As for cost value, I had a Patagonia super cell gore tex jacket that got car battery terminal corrosion all over the sleeve from tossing it in my trunk. I took it to the DC store to see if worn wear could fix it and if so I’d still use it as a beater rain shell. I fully explained to them that I got it years before at a local gear shop in town & fucked it up being negligent, not a warranty issue. Dude told me to go look around and try to find a new one to swap out and have a great day. I’m not saying that’s an everyday occurrence, but they fix what we break and if they can’t they’ll sort it out fairly
