    Every time my son sees someone restore a lock , he asks if it was from Game of Thrones... they see the trailers on HBO... and anything with some rust is from Game of Thrones ... .nice restoration... nothing seems out of your league ... Top Marks.

    Obviously simple but I am sure it was very effective. Nice key cutting work, and blue definitely sets this lock among the others you have done. 😁👍🇺🇸

    Maybe a wasp decided to nest in the lock. We’re there lots of spider legs and husks inside? That would help determine if it was a wasp/hornet or not.

    The key is called a sprung key because that is a sprung lock. You can call it a barrel key as well.

    Which took longer? Restoring the lock, or making the key? How long did each job take?

    • @lostandrestored
      @lostandrestored  2 года назад +1

      Making the key for this restoration. Each job takes about a week to do.

    Where do you get the small hand size sandpaper and handle from?

  • @Luminary600
    @Luminary600 2 года назад +1

    From what I understand, it's called a "barrel key". The end looks like a barrel. I like the blue paint.

    • @pyrotheevilplatypus
      @pyrotheevilplatypus 2 года назад +3

      Pin hole or hollow barrel. From what I understand, anytime it's a round shaft, it's a barrel key. If the barrel key has that hole, it's a hollow barrel.

    Have you tried Evapo-Rust remover?? I've use it and it works great and never had to soak anything twice. It might be better than that WD_40 rust remover, I haven't use it before so I can't say. Sorry if I have said something before about it it's just such a great product!
    Excellent restoration and you did a fine job restoring it!!!
    Enjoyed your video and I gave it a Thumbs Up

    You could've used sandblasting machine. It would be much easier to reach the rusted part removed than scraping.

      As it's simple steel, and the latch point on the hasp doesn't even really connect, I suspect it's just a cheap cabinet lock, like you'd put on a basic paint cabinet in a shop. (two doors, one hasp across). More to keep random people from grabbing than for security.
