Hello! The glue all the way to the edge tends to hold the stitching on just fine and I haven't had a problem with fraying, but I'm also gentle on my bookmarks :) In addition, I use a stiff black aida that doesn't seem to be too fragile - I've had no fraying and it's been months of use. But I do think that if you're rough on your bookmarks you'll have to expect some fraying down the line. Hope that helps and thanks for stopping by. Happy stitching!
