During construction I rly thought that these stations was gonna get the ESI treatment but then I remembered that program isn’t even running anymore💀

The Enhanced Station Initiative was amazing. Made several stations look way better and different compared to the majority of decrepit stations in our subway. Unfortunately, ESI has been superseded by the ReNEWvation program, which isn't as effective at renovating stations. Oh well.

@@fantherailsbc ESI was a blantent violation of ADA but knowing the MTA, they went for to not do the full rehabs than to do them with elevators.

We are only weeks away from the Flushing-bound platforms closure due in May, last I heard from the MTA. Closed for the rest of the year and into sometime in Q1 2025... Though by then, other parts of the Flushing line could still be under reconstruction, or starting to by that point.

Why can't they be more creative with the station renovations? Not everything has to look exactly the same with the green and white tiled walls.

The way how the MTA renovated those stations, they could’ve been made ADA Accessible. I am referring to how the platforms were completely rebuilt. The MTA is definitely not complying with the Judges Orders after a statement was made back in 2019 that the MTA must include elevators in future station renovations. They definitely haven’t learned their lessons from February of 2019 when a Connecticut mother including her 1 year old daughter fell down a flight of stairs at the 7th Avenue - 53rd Street Station. The girl survived the fall while the mother fell and died. In reality, 7th Avenue - 53rd Street on the (B), (D), and (E) Lines should definitely have elevators installed as there are two platforms to access including the mezzanine and the street level. The death of that Connecticut mother could’ve been avoided if the MTA installed elevators in that station in the first place when it was being renovated in the early-2000’s. That woman could still be alive today and living with her daughter if the elevators were installed in that station.

Yep, missed opportunity, but not surprised. Remember this is the MTA, known for their embarrassing lack of ADA accessibility in most subway stations.

What is wrong with the “Express Track” that requires it’s replacement for the entire line? If that was to happen, does this mean that Express Train Service will be suspended for a period of time?

      Yes... :(
But tbh the express service we have now only skips four stations in total on the entire line so it's kinda useless anyway, I don't mind if they get rid of the for a while to replace the tracks. If it was the old, classic that we used to have that skipped a whopping ten stations, then it would be a different story.
The classic got cancelled in August of 2023 for ADA work or some crap and it seems like they're not bringing it back anytime soon. I really miss the old , I remember train operators who worked on that line would absolutely haul ass flying through stations doing 45mph.
