I just turned 62 and have not been on a bike since I sold my Street Glide 17 years ago and decided it's time to get back on a Haley and this looks like perfect bike as it's 100 lbs less than Street Glide. I am 5'8" as well. Did you add forward controls or a crash bar with highway pegs? I would also add the 6/12 bar with pullback risers Love to hear how you are enjoying the bike. Safe travels🙏

Great review . I actually went to Sunshine Coast Harley and checked out all these great bikes. I’m 5’6 & this is so perfect for my height & size. Weight is a big difference between RD & SG . Just by moving the bikes from a standing seating position. So your review has really made me consider this Low Rider ST as my next bike & first HD. Nik From Darwin. Keep up your awesome reviews 👍

I have both a Dyna Fat Bob and a ‘21 Lowrider S 114. Love both bikes. I hated the mids so put forwards on it. Recently extended forwards nd it’s a great relaxing ride for my legs. I thought of a bar and highway pegs but I really couldn’t bother. Great bike.

Good review. Bought a 2023 Black Lowrider ST from Gasoline Alley in Nov. Great bike, plenty of power. I've put some risers on it, slip ons and a seat, best harley I've ridden and im 6 foot. Performance options are great once ive run the warrenty out as well.

Love mine, but also under 6ft haha. Agree that they rip from the factory, but with some basic work like cam/intake/pipe/injectors, they really take off. Its nearly funny how good they handle, you dont really expect them to handle better than a dyna/fxr but theyre really well designed. Could always do with more height but thats all harleys.

I love my LRST, I sold my 636 and got on this. I’m right at 6’ and fits comfortably enough but I’m going to do 6.5 pull back risers and different seat. Aside from that, that’s all I really need to change for a little better rider triangle.

I'm 5'11 with my shoes on and from time to time I get a little cramp in my hip. But with these mid-controls, I'm able to stand up to alleviate the hip issue. I expected to get forward controls but after a few rides (especially on the twisties) I came to love the mid controls. Anyway, the power and torque on this bike is amazing. It's a rocket that should come with a seat belt. :) Love love love this bike. Oh, I should mention I have the S and not the ST (prefer the gauge on the S). Great review, bro! Keep up the great work!

If I had to pick a new Softail, this would be it. Definitely made for shorter riders. Love that it has the 117, 2 into 1 pipes, & triple discs, & for a softail, plenty of cornering clearance. I'm not a fan of the fairing (Maybe a 1970s Kawasaki Z1 fairing would look nicer. Arlon Ness made something similar in the 80s) & I would probably prefer a change to drag bars. After 35 years riding, I bought my first bike with cruise control. I was converted straight away Maybe you need to start saving to buy a 2nd hand one in 6 to 12 months. Happy trails, Cowpoke
Definitely agree with you. They bloody nailed it in my opinion! It's pretty damn wild having the 117 and being lighter too. Love drag bars too ! Would be pretty cool. I"m only 5,9 and I felt the same way about the mid controls. I have a 2022 Heritage Classic with floor boards. I recently sat on a used one with forward controls, and it was WAY better. I almost traded in my Heritage for it.

@@Gnarly_Harley I've done so much to my heritage to have it dialed in for me, bars at 14 inch rise, heated grips, heated seat, exhaust, sissy bar, all LED lighting, engine guards, bag guards. So to trade the Heritage in, would have to take a lot at this point. I'm waiting for the Low Rider ST to update the gages. That little thing on the bar clamps is not enough. They need to put the TFT display that is on the Nightster, and the Sportster on the Low Rider ST. Also, Harley needs to make a cruiser, like the Low Rider ST, with their new 1250 Rev Max engine in it. That would be sick. I rented a Pan America for a day, and that engine is a beast. Put that engine in a 600 lb cruiser, call it the new Dyna, and I'd be in. I also have a 2013 Dyna Switchback.
Long story short, I've only (previously) ever ridden 2 bikes. That being the 250cc Honda for the instructional course and my 2006 Harley Davidson Night Rod (I miss that bike). Last fall I decided to test ride a couple bikes, the Softail Standard, Street Bob and the Lowrider ST. I had just retested for my motorcycle license (old one expired years ago). So I wasn't sure what to expect when I tried these three. I decided to try the Softail Standard first (with the M8 107), figuring it would be the easiest sine it had the "smallest" engine of the 3. Oh boy lol. Letting out on the clutch almost threw me off, I got used to it pretty quick but it definitely surprised me. Then I swapped to the Street Bob (M8 114), and could already tell the difference and surprisingly enough it felt smoother than the 107. Then I decided to try the ST (M8 117). It was a night and day difference, I absolutely loved the ST. It felt even more smooth than the Street Bob, felt the additional power but I felt so much more in control. I realized I was laughing up a storm when I opened her up and got going. It was just so much fun. The only "downside" I have of it is the digital gauge. It really should be something else than a little 2" screen. Harley has much better screens on the Nightsters and Sportster S, so I don't know why they don't at least make those an option for their bigger bikes.

I Definitely agree with you there, although I use waze so whatever speedo I have I don't use 90% of the time 🤣 They definitely should option it even with the old style needle guages for a retro feel or even the newer screens as you said. Absolutely love my LRST in the Fast Johnnie colour. With a S&S 475 cam , Supertrapp 2 into 1 with a Techno research tuner and tuned by Ducati Perth. Producing 118hp &. 134 ft pd of torque. Still scrape the pegs though

I'm 5'11" with big feet. I kinda like the mid controls. At high speeds, with forward controls my oversized size 14US feet blown off the pegs... to much surface area I guess. Above 80mph it is difficult for me to put my feet on the highway/crash bar just because of the wind.

Curiosity, if you had to pick between the lowrider st and the breakout...which would you choose? Saw both reviews, but if you had only one, which would it be for you?
Hands down low rider ST even though I'd have to change a couple of things ( seat and do forward controls ) to suit my height. All round just suits me better. I loved the handling and the wind protection because I do big kms and love the twisties. If I just wanted a weekender and a head turner then the breakout for sure. That’s my next bike. Love the TBR!!!! Gotta have the Rockford Fosgate speakers. They make a forward control kit. Update: finally test rode last week. Couldn’t pull the trigger since I owe too much on my trades.

The sports glide should’ve just got 2 front disc I may be a little taller windshield would’ve made it a much bette bike than the ST with easy removal of fairing and forward controls. I do like the fairing but you can’t take it off
I'm still yet to do a review on the sport glide but keep an eye out on the channel, I'll see how I go. I do love the low rider ST fairing and the overall look, maybe because I'm a road glide fan and it looks like a mini version haha. You did make some good points thanks for watching 🧡 🖤 🤙

when i test rode one, I was also very uncomfortable and felt really awkward about the seating position with the mid controls (I'm only 5ft9). So I ordered mine with forward controls and it is a sh!tload better however I'm still slightly uncomfortable with the height of the bars I feel like I'm reaching forward too far. I reckon I'll be putting higher bars or risers. PS a good S&S cam REALLY brings it alive
Yeah it is very awkward with the mids hey! I thought the bars would be abit of a stretch. If they are perfect for me I had a feeling in the 5's would need to bring them forward. Good call man. Hmmm I'm 191 and was cramped with the mid controls but with the forwards I'd definitely own one even at my height. The bars were fine for me too. Hope that helps mate

@@Gnarly_Harley I talked to the guys at Diamondback Harley and a suggestion was putting on the front controls and floorboards from a Heritage, then of course either 6 ' risers on the handle bars or just different ones. I just bought Road King Special they had instead and had it lowered. lol Either way thank you for your review and the time it took.

humm if you thing that your ST is fast how about 2.7 sec for the Triumph Rocket 3 GT you have to try it mate you never going back to Harley slow mo motorcycle trust me, try it.

The bike needs a full color TFT display. The current gauge display looks like it came from a 1980's calculator. Unacceptable for a modern bike in Harley's price range not to have modern dash displays. All Harley has to do is use the Pan America's TFT

I just turned 62 and have not been on a bike since I sold my Street Glide 17 years ago and decided it's time to get back on a Haley and this looks like perfect bike as it's 100 lbs less than Street Glide. I am 5'8" as well. Did you add forward controls or a crash bar with highway pegs? I would also add the 6/12 bar with pullback risers Love to hear how you are enjoying the bike. Safe travels🙏

Great review . I actually went to Sunshine Coast Harley and checked out all these great bikes. I’m 5’6 & this is so perfect for my height & size. Weight is a big difference between RD & SG . Just by moving the bikes from a standing seating position. So your review has really made me consider this Low Rider ST as my next bike & first HD. Nik From Darwin. Keep up your awesome reviews 👍

I have both a Dyna Fat Bob and a ‘21 Lowrider S 114. Love both bikes. I hated the mids so put forwards on it. Recently extended forwards nd it’s a great relaxing ride for my legs. I thought of a bar and highway pegs but I really couldn’t bother. Great bike.

Bought a 2023 Black Lowrider ST from Gasoline Alley in Nov. Great bike, plenty of power. I've put some risers on it, slip ons and a seat, best harley I've ridden and im 6 foot.
Performance options are great once ive run the warrenty out as well.

Love mine, but also under 6ft haha. Agree that they rip from the factory, but with some basic work like cam/intake/pipe/injectors, they really take off. Its nearly funny how good they handle, you dont really expect them to handle better than a dyna/fxr but theyre really well designed. Could always do with more height but thats all harleys.

I love my LRST, I sold my 636 and got on this. I’m right at 6’ and fits comfortably enough but I’m going to do 6.5 pull back risers and different seat. Aside from that, that’s all I really need to change for a little better rider triangle.

I'm 5'11 with my shoes on and from time to time I get a little cramp in my hip. But with these mid-controls, I'm able to stand up to alleviate the hip issue. I expected to get forward controls but after a few rides (especially on the twisties) I came to love the mid controls. Anyway, the power and torque on this bike is amazing. It's a rocket that should come with a seat belt. :) Love love love this bike. Oh, I should mention I have the S and not the ST (prefer the gauge on the S). Great review, bro! Keep up the great work!

If I had to pick a new Softail, this would be it. Definitely made for shorter riders. Love that it has the 117, 2 into 1 pipes, & triple discs, & for a softail, plenty of cornering clearance. I'm not a fan of the fairing (Maybe a 1970s Kawasaki Z1 fairing would look nicer. Arlon Ness made something similar in the 80s) & I would probably prefer a change to drag bars.
After 35 years riding, I bought my first bike with cruise control. I was converted straight away
Maybe you need to start saving to buy a 2nd hand one in 6 to 12 months.

I"m only 5,9 and I felt the same way about the mid controls. I have a 2022 Heritage Classic with floor boards. I recently sat on a used one with forward controls, and it was WAY better. I almost traded in my Heritage for it.

@@Gnarly_Harley I've done so much to my heritage to have it dialed in for me, bars at 14 inch rise, heated grips, heated seat, exhaust, sissy bar, all LED lighting, engine guards, bag guards. So to trade the Heritage in, would have to take a lot at this point. I'm waiting for the Low Rider ST to update the gages. That little thing on the bar clamps is not enough. They need to put the TFT display that is on the Nightster, and the Sportster on the Low Rider ST. Also, Harley needs to make a cruiser, like the Low Rider ST, with their new 1250 Rev Max engine in it. That would be sick. I rented a Pan America for a day, and that engine is a beast. Put that engine in a 600 lb cruiser, call it the new Dyna, and I'd be in. I also have a 2013 Dyna Switchback.

Long story short, I've only (previously) ever ridden 2 bikes. That being the 250cc Honda for the instructional course and my 2006 Harley Davidson Night Rod (I miss that bike). Last fall I decided to test ride a couple bikes, the Softail Standard, Street Bob and the Lowrider ST. I had just retested for my motorcycle license (old one expired years ago). So I wasn't sure what to expect when I tried these three. I decided to try the Softail Standard first (with the M8 107), figuring it would be the easiest sine it had the "smallest" engine of the 3. Oh boy lol. Letting out on the clutch almost threw me off, I got used to it pretty quick but it definitely surprised me. Then I swapped to the Street Bob (M8 114), and could already tell the difference and surprisingly enough it felt smoother than the 107. Then I decided to try the ST (M8 117). It was a night and day difference, I absolutely loved the ST. It felt even more smooth than the Street Bob, felt the additional power but I felt so much more in control. I realized I was laughing up a storm when I opened her up and got going. It was just so much fun. The only "downside" I have of it is the digital gauge. It really should be something else than a little 2" screen. Harley has much better screens on the Nightsters and Sportster S, so I don't know why they don't at least make those an option for their bigger bikes.

Absolutely love my LRST in the Fast Johnnie colour. With a S&S 475 cam , Supertrapp 2 into 1 with a Techno research tuner and tuned by Ducati Perth. Producing 118hp &. 134 ft pd of torque. Still scrape the pegs though

I'm 5'11" with big feet. I kinda like the mid controls. At high speeds, with forward controls my oversized size 14US feet blown off the pegs... to much surface area I guess. Above 80mph it is difficult for me to put my feet on the highway/crash bar just because of the wind.

Curiosity, if you had to pick between the lowrider st and the breakout...which would you choose? Saw both reviews, but if you had only one, which would it be for you?
Hands down low rider ST even though I'd have to change a couple of things ( seat and do forward controls ) to suit my height. All round just suits me better. I loved the handling and the wind protection because I do big kms and love the twisties. If I just wanted a weekender and a head turner then the breakout for sure.

The sports glide should’ve just got 2 front disc I may be a little taller windshield would’ve made it a much bette bike than the ST with easy removal of fairing and forward controls. I do like the fairing but you can’t take it off
I'm still yet to do a review on the sport glide but keep an eye out on the channel, I'll see how I go. I do love the low rider ST fairing and the overall look, maybe because I'm a road glide fan and it looks like a mini version haha. You did make some good points thanks for watching 🧡 🖤 🤙

when i test rode one, I was also very uncomfortable and felt really awkward about the seating position with the mid controls (I'm only 5ft9). So I ordered mine with forward controls and it is a sh!tload better however I'm still slightly uncomfortable with the height of the bars I feel like I'm reaching forward too far. I reckon I'll be putting higher bars or risers. PS a good S&S cam REALLY brings it alive
Yeah it is very awkward with the mids hey! I thought the bars would be abit of a stretch. If they are perfect for me I had a feeling in the 5's would need to bring them forward. Good call man. Yeah I bet haha I heard some are getting around 125hp just with a stage 2... that's wild ! Thanks for the feedback !

Hmmm I'm 191 and was cramped with the mid controls but with the forwards I'd definitely own one even at my height. The bars were fine for me too. Hope that helps mate

@@Gnarly_Harley I talked to the guys at Diamondback Harley and a suggestion was putting on the front controls and floorboards from a Heritage, then of course either 6
' risers on the handle bars or just different ones. I just bought Road King Special they had instead and had it lowered. lol

humm if you thing that your ST is fast how about 2.7 sec for the Triumph Rocket 3 GT you have to try it mate you never going back to Harley slow mo motorcycle trust me, try it.

The bike needs a full color TFT display. The current gauge display looks like it came from a 1980's calculator. Unacceptable for a modern bike in Harley's price range not to have modern dash displays. All Harley has to do is use the Pan America's TFT
That's a very good point mate, I didn't think of that. I own a 08 dyna so I'm happy with anything newer. I should really take that into account thanks for pointing that out !
