My dear internet friend...you have helped me through some dark moments these past few months with my back issues, been there with an inspiring video that took my mind off my pain and helped me relax when I couldn't sleep. I wish it was that easy to help you, and your family, through the loss of your wonderful son. I never had children so I cannot even imagine the life changing grief you must be feeling and anything I could say, or anyone could say, cannot take away one ounce of the pain you are experiencing. Just know that your youtube community is grieving with you and for you, and holding you and your family close to our hearts and will continue to keep you in our thoughts. I know after losing my mother how I needed projects that I loved and could get lost in helped me. My love and work is historic architecture, so I spent many nights researching buildings and architects through many sleepless nights. I hope your beautiful crafting and sharing your ideas gives you some moments of peace and joy. It will never change or make better what you are going through but hopefully it gives you some peace and lowers the anxiety level just a little. Sending love and prayers from Arizona.
Cori, even when times are so tough you still manage to be so incredibly productive and inspiring. I had to reach for my ideas notebook and sketched out 4 of your ideas ready to use. I know the crafting community is so grateful you are still giving us your time right now. Sending lots of love 💚
Thank you, Cori. Today, I had the energy to watch this and make a simple piece with a few scraps and a flower sticker. At least, I made something. I treasure you, dear.
Oh my goodness, Cori!! What a treasure box of awesome ideas and tidbits 👌💕💕 Mocked up some of your ideas as I watched to use later 👍 Thank you always for sharing your fantastic creativity, but especially during this time, Cori 💕 Beauty from ashes.... Lots of love and big hugs, dear one 🙏💕💕
Some fabulous inspiration here Cori, “baby steps” approach I guess which is perfect for everyone at different times….thank you for continuing to share and inspire even when you are suffering such a loss. I’m sending loving thoughts and prayers to you and your family❤
Im up this morning trying to take my mind somewhere besides being sad over my son's 28th birthday in heaven, and im seeing you have lost your son too, I am so incredibly sorry ((((hugs)))) I know the pain you are feeling and i remember being on auto pilot- or in a fog with it all. Its over a year for me and i am still struggling, crafting helps me so much, especially this type. Thank you so much for sharing during this sad time. My prayers for you and your fami;y are definitely coming, Your crafting is so calming for me, I truly am so thankful for you. Sending love, light and prayers from one mom to another. ❤ Maria
Bless you, sweet Maria, and may your happy memories help push away the sadness of his loss. My son was 28 when he died and yesterday was 4 weeks since he left us. I've repeatedly been assured that the ache will diminish over time and I pray that for you as well. Take care of yourself and please feel my warm, heart felt hug ❤️
What great ideas! I am definitely going to try them. You inspired me to get out my Big shot and do some make aheads for my favorite dies just on white cardstock. I can put them in a box and color them with inks when I have an idea of what I want to do. So many times I stop because I don't feel like getting my more bulky items out to create with to just one thing. So if I spend some time prepping my favorites, then I will have something to create with. Thank you for this great video. I can hardly wait for the next one.
I do that same thing frequently when I've got lots of white cardstock scraps. I store mine in trays, but sleeves or other options work well too. Glad the video gave you an idea that will work for you 😊
Prep work is soothing. The repetitive actions coupled with just enough decision making is perfect. You brought me back to my classroom time. We always made what I called flag book marks. They look like folded flags. And, then I remembered we made zines, though I didn't know them by that name. It was a nonverbal lesson as I only used observational demonstration. Thank you for sharing. We all know these are tough times. You are deeply cared for by the whole community.
Cori, I love all of your ideas to turn TH ephemera into your own! This would be a perfect thing to do when you don't feel creative. Hugs and blessings!🥰
Thank you, Nancy. Looking at the TH pieces this way has certainly changed what I tuck into pockets... and the amount of ephemera pieces in my TH drawer 😊
Hi Mandy! It's wonderful to "see" you too. Sometimes mindless... or intentional... creating is just what a person needs. Thank you for keeping me company ❤️
Hey Cori, thanks for this video, it really does help to sometimes do “no-think” projects. I am limited at the moment creatively, or at least so I thought. I looked around my craft room and I have so many little things that I can make into project things! My technology will be back, but this put a huge smile on my heart. Hugs my friend! And as always, thank you!!
Dear Cori, sending hugs and prayers to you and your family at this heart wrenching time. You are such a wonderful example of giving to others when you are down to help deal with your own pain! Thank you so muchh for your inspiration, your crafting ideas and inspiration and for being a real light in our sometimes dark world. Blessings!
Thank you, Cori! You’re an amazing presenter of ideas! I plan to rewatch this video tomorrow when I’m not so bleary eyed and my brain is functioning better! 😘 it’s been a long day. There is so much great info in this video that I want to absorb. Well done, dear friend! Love and big hugs! 😀💞
How adorable Cori. Hope you are doing a little better everyday. I think about you daily and wonder how things are going. If there's anything I can do, please let me know. Hugs ❤❤❤
Thank you, sweet Pat. Yesterday was 4 weeks and we sang "Shout to the Lord" in church. I lost it. I remember teaching and practicing that song with the kids in our white mini van when they were little. Each day brings different blessings, and different challenges. Kind people, like you, make it all bearable ❤️
Oh hun, I am sorry.... I think I missed a vid.... I am liking what I am seeing.... You are so talented Cori... love your style. Much Love... sending hugs xx
Hi Cori. Long time subbie but not often comment but I just had to say how sorry I was to hear about your loss. I just lost my brother yesterday and as sad as that is, I could not imagine losing my child. You do not know how inspiring you are to so many, me included, and how you spread comfort even in your grief. Thank you for all you do for not just your inspiration through your craft but the courage and strength you’ve shown to help the rest of us who are grieving to keep pushing through. Please accept my deepest sympathy and hoping memories of happier times gets you through the dark days. Much love and thanks for all you do. 💞💕
You brought tears to my eyes. Thank you. I'm so sorry for your loss as well and I pray that your happy and good memories bring you comfort. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and for your kindness. Messages like these help remind me that people matter so very much and that e can all do our part to make the world work ❤️
This video is so inspiring! Even though I'm struggling right now I will give these a try! Thank you so much for sharing with us. We love you and know this is not an easy time, yet you continue to have great ideas! 😍
So many great ideas here, Cori. Isn't it funny how you start doing prep, because you don't feel creative, and then all of a sudden the prep work sparks an idea and off you go? Doesn't always happen, but i love when it does. Thanks for the bow tip. I needed that!
Hi Denise. I was pondering the no-creativity angle because of some messages I received and some comments on a video. There are times a person really wants the distraction of making something, but not the responsibility of making decisions. So, I thought about it and this is where I landed. The bonus for me is that it is helping me to re-discover supplies in my stash and to use them ❤️
@@CoriDahmen "... the distraction of making something, but not the responsibility of making decisions." Perfect description of how I feel at times. Or, I may be willing to make decisions, but can't. So I will sit at the jewelry bench, or at my craft table, and put bits and pieces together and take them apart and nothing looks right. I have learned to be content with those days because I know from my blurred meanderings, something good will form up tomorrow or the next day. Thanks for answering, Cori.
Hey there Cori, thank you for sharing :) I absolutely love doing the strip clusters, they are amazing additions to my pages and projects. I am enjoying the little bit of lace as well. Blessings, Diane
Thank you, Cori! These are all great ideas. I have a lot of these bigger Tim Holtz ephemera pieces and always pass them up because I didn’t have the imagination on how to use them. Thanks for the pointers. 😍❤️
I've had those pieces for years too. My word this year is re-discover so I'm challenging myself to find new or different ways to use up some of the absurd amount in my stash. In hindsight (for me) pocket tucks are an obvious use of all those great TH pieces.... just wish I'd thought of it sooner 😊
These are my favorite kinds of videos. I love to see how you change up ideas and mass make with scraps. These are such inspiring ideas when it is hard to find a place to begin, but you want to create something. Prayers for you and your family and thank you for always inspiring us.
Cori, you are amazing!!!! I so look forward to your videos and love watching the detail you add to these beautiful expressions of your craft. They are ALL so lovely…and your description of how you made them is so appreciated.
I lost my daughter 5 years ago,. I’ve lost many family members over the years, but there is no pain that compares to losing a child. I’m so sorry Cori. There really are no words to help, except please know that we are all here for you and do what you can when you can. Those are my words of advice. What a great video, why have I never thought of using Tim’s items to build upon. Guess what I’m going to be doing later today? Sending hugs and love your way 💙🌀
I used plastic trays, then baking pans and then I saw these.... they remind me very much of my grandmother and the availability of lids for some just sealed the deal. I love using them for paper storage.
As you're looking at the bow (not when it's on your shoe and you're looking at it upside down), the string or ribbon on the right should begin on top of or over the ribbon on the left and folded/pushed through so that it's on the top, and to the left. Then make your loop on the left, wrap with the right and pull through. That will (should...) give you a straight bow each time 😊
Thank you for another video full of good ideas and inspiration. I'm wondering what the paper from Amazon is called, similar to straw paper. I'm praying for you and your family.❤
Have you tried “Yes Paste”? It was one of the first glues I played with and one I use often still. The key is to use a very thin layer. I usually use a pallet knife to apply and then I put thru laminater if my gluing is haphazard that day. Lol
Hi Cori, It's good to hear your voice again. I do have a few questions when you get a moment. Can you tell me if you have videos on how to make the cello tape and which color ink you use? Also, I've seen people using the magents, but I don't know which type of magnets are best to use and how they are attached. I'm assuming between paper layers. Do you have a video explaining the magnet application? Thank you in advance.
Hi Sandy! Yes, I do have videos, but I'm 98% sure they are not stand-alone and the instructions are shared in videos that cover other questions. BUT, I can easily walk you through both questions. Magnets. I get them from Amazon and they are the 7 Gypsies brand/label as they are very thin. I believe there are two or three sizes (diameters) available. They have a sticky side with peel off labels that are clearly marked + and - . Just peel and place. I put one side down first, then peel the stickers and place the 2nd piece right on top of the first (sticky side up so it catches the top or closing paper) and press. I usually then cover the magnets with a strip of thin paper, glued all around the magnet, just to make sure the magnet adhesive doesn't pull away. The magnets are fairly strong and I think the paper could tear without that layer between them, holding each magnet section in place. The tape is super easy. I use scotch, but am sure any brand will work. I lay strips of tape, sticky side down, on parchment paper. I then add some random drops of latte and caramel alcohol ink to the top, smear it around a bit and let it dry. It dries super quickly. Then it's ready to use!
@@CoriDahmen Okay, great! Thank you for the response, I appreciate the info and can't wait to try these out! Take care and know I'm thinking of you❣️ I'm excited to watch your upcoming videos. Thanks again!
Continued prayers for you and your family Cori. ❤ Wish I could say something comforting, and helpful but losing a child leaves me without words other than I’m praying for you. Crafting can be a comforting respite and I hope that’s what it is providing you. Your videos are so inspiring, thank you for sharing. I have a question - how do you laminate the piece of ephemera with backing without actually laminating the piece with the plastic coating? (I hope my question makes sense.)
Thank you Julie and yes, your question made perfect sense. I don't actually laminate the pieces... in this case the front of the journaling cards to the backs. I use the heat and pressure of the laminator to reactivate the glue that I placed between the layers to hold them together. I don't use any laminating film. I just place the two glued-together sheets through the hot laminator and let them roll out the other side. The heat reactivates the glue and the pressure smooths out any gaps between adhesion. If I've spread the glue stick over all or most parts of one side this method works pretty well to make sure they are no lifts or bubbles.
Good morning Cori! Thanks for these great ideas. I have a question for you regarding using a laminator to "spread out" the glue once you've backed your items. What kind of laminator do you use; a hot or cold or one that can do both? Do you put the pieces through individually, even though they are small? I would love to see a quick "tutorial" on how you do this. This is such a great idea and makes great perfect sense when using a glue stick. I would like to get a laminator (but not spend too much on it) for just this purpose. Any insight that you can give would be appreciated. Again - you and your family are in my thoughts/prayers. Thank you.
I use the Amazon basics laminator that has two settings for thickness (3 and5). It’s a heat laminator and it was right around $20… though I’ve had this one for a year or two and, like just about everything, it’s probably a bit more spendy now. I’ll show how I use it during my next video 😊
Cori, I have really enjoyed this time with you learning so so much. Thanks for this learning class. I have a question for you. I have written to you before and ask you but have not gotten an answer, so could you please give me the answer, please please, question??? Where did you buy the little black magnets that sit on your desk. I have been trying to find them. I need a set of them for crafting and sewing and cutting fabric. I hope to hear from you soon. Thanks you every so much.
Hi Naomi and my apologies for not answering as I thought I had. Must have been to a similar question from another person. Yes, here is the link to where I got the magnets. I've had great luck with them. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0937LG2TT/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
This vid was randomly suggested to me despite my having subbed quite a while back and you just never show up on my "suggested homepage" area.... And I'm intrigued. You ran the pieces through the laminater to reactivate the glue, you say?! How, wait... what!? 😮 do explain the technique or refer a how-to bc I am definitely interested ps I ❤ me some T.H.!

Nope, I didn’t know how to make the bow go straight. I had to watch it twice and now I have to try it.
As you're looking at the bow (not when it's on your shoe and you're looking at it upside down), the string or ribbon on the right should begin on top of or over the ribbon on the left and folded/pushed through so that it's on the top, and to the left. Then make your loop on the left, wrap with the right and pull through. That will (should...) give you a straight bow each time 😊
thanks so much
You're welcome!
Thank you for another video full of good ideas and inspiration. I'm wondering what the paper from Amazon is called, similar to straw paper.
I'm praying for you and your family.❤
My apologies, that paper is not from Amazon. The straw paper was purchased on Etsy. If you search "straw paper" you'll get several options 😊
Have you tried “Yes Paste”? It was one of the first glues I played with and one I use often still. The key is to use a very thin layer. I usually use a pallet knife to apply and then I put thru laminater if my gluing is haphazard that day. Lol
LOL. I've not tried that one, but I'll check it out. Thank you!
Hi Cori,
It's good to hear your voice again.
Thank you, @@CoriDahmen for teaching us that and for sharing your talent and inspiration with us all. I'm looking forward to your next video.
Thank you very much. Continued prayers for you and your family ❤️. Hugs
This vid was randomly suggested to me despite my having subbed quite a while back and you just never show up on my "suggested homepage" area.... And I'm intrigued. You ran the pieces through the laminater to reactivate the glue, you say?! How, wait... what!? 😮 do explain the technique or refer a how-to bc I am definitely interested
ps I ❤ me some T.H.!
I’ve had a few others ask so I’ll show/share a quick how-to on my next video 😊
Please provide the link to the Amazon Straw Paper. Love this project. ~Terri 😊
Thank you and my apologies. The straw paper was purchased on Etsy, not Amazon.
the circle looks like a tortilla!😅
