I am glad you left your outtake / mis-steps in because I have been tripping over myself getting previous and modified protocols intermixed.

Knowing on March 5 you’ve already taken steps to consider this is impressive and respectable.
I’m sure it will need to evolve as we learn more.
Knowing humans, and how human we can be, even though as you ‘only inhale’ from the cup I can see that as a weak link when you have several people trying with the same cup.
(Human example: my grocery store has one way signs at every aisle and taped arrows on the floor and still, every few aisle someone is going the wrong way oblivious, or oppositional, to the flow.)
For now I’ll avoid any group cupping but love the ideas here as a best practice and will definitely do my part to help keep everyone as safe as possible.

Thanks a lot, so with this new protocol, we also adding the time in cupping / grading ? i mean more longer since we have to spoon, transfer to the glass, slurp and rinse the glass etc for each cup. (lets say in Q class / exam)

This work is greatly appreciated! While it’s more work this method seems fantastic well beyond the current health scare!! THANK YOU!

    Thanks for the video,
I find using a 4 cup carry tray (Stolen from the cafe) makes things easier.
It keeps all your stuff together and you can move around the table easily without juggling 3 cups/glasses/spoons etc.

Keep these videos coming. I have done cupping with customers and I know they are sometimes uncomfortable with the process. I own a restaurant as well as a coffee roasting company. I wonder after seeing this if the small plastic ladles that are used on the salad bar to ladle dressing could be used to remove an appropriate amount of coffee from the cup into an individuals shot glass, and five shot glasses per taster..a lot to juggle.

9:00 just curious. When you go to the next cup to taste, do you find the taste from the previous cup is still in your mouth or is the spit-out good enough to clear any lingering taste from the previous cup? I find that sometimes I need to rinse my mouth to clear my palette before tasting the coffee again.

Thanks Trish, it's a tough situation to limit/ensure safety if someone in the group has a virus. Even breathing and more so talking can aerosol dropplets with live virus within a tight area of a group. Some can land on surfaces, some can linger some can drift away.

So the spoon cant touch the rim where potentially your lips could have touched it, but putting the spoon on the table is ok?

What about using an odorless, tasteless food grade sanitizer in the rinse cup? Wouldn’t that solve the contamination issue?

It's interesting but what happen when you have a lots of coffee samples to taste? For example a competition.
I think that is best to use yars or jugs of porcelain with enough beverage. Then the cuptastes have a personal cup, they put a some of coffee in the cup and evaluate it with the spoon.
Another simple possibility is to use more really hot water cups and to replace it more frequently.

Having a thermos filled with hot water probably more efficient than having each cupper bring their own hot water to rinse their shotglass

Hey my friend Adi, Yeah we thought of that, but we have a questions about clean hands. Many hands touching the same thermos to rinse their cups seems like it's a bad idea. Anyway, this was just how we did it this time. We are looking for more tips and tricks like yours!

@@trishrothgeb6957 arent there any volunteer/table boss that can help pour hot water? Or, this is slightly crazier idea, having a working electrical stove with boiling water on an open pot where cupper can "sterilize" their spoon. The challenge is to stop a bit to let the spoon cools down, before using it.

Proposal: personal cups. Coffee isn't that expensive. Imagine, wine tasting costs. Everyone gets their own personal cups - should be the new standard. Maybe decrease the cupping bowl size standard to save on costs if that is an issue. What do you think?

Yes that's the right way to do these things. I wonder which insanitary person came up with the original protocol anyways.
In India dining sanitation has been around for generations - and most medical sanitation standards match that definition. Basically any mouth / nose contact the spoon / vessel would be regarded as 'jhoota' or 'used' and then not be used by another person until after a thorough soap wash. The same way if say your right hand is used for eating, the hand is considered 'jhoota' or 'used' - which means you won't use the same hand for a different task until you do a thorough soap wash.
Well, as most things in life standards evolve. Or people realize the value of the old vedic / ancestral standards passed down for generations - which is also a sort of evolution.

To be honest - what a bullsh*t topic. I really like your videos and again this video is executed and presented extremely well.
The fact that the whole world is turning crazy, because of something that is essentially a flu (not even the worst one) is mind boggling. I argue that there are more dangerous places to catch a disease than a cupping table.
I know you guys just declared an emergency situation, but you should not scare so easy. What are you going to declare if there is a real threat?
