Thanks for the detailed review of the Innovate Performance Hybrid jacket, Martin! The thoughtful design with stretch, insulation, and pockets sounds impressive. Keep up the good work with your reviews and with your running too! 👍
Martin, thanks for another great review. Looks like a highly functional and well-designed jacket. I agree that temp regulation is the holy Grail. I own Patagonia, Marmot, and Sugoi waterproof jackets, but they do get warm.
Thanks Reto, it can be so hard keeping your temperature regulated while running & through into the mix we all feel the heat & cold differently means there are a lot of options out there! I've not come across Sugoi before (though I did notice you wearing it in your latest video), so I'll keep my eyes out for it 👍
I wrote comments but I must have forgotten to click the Comment button so here is take two from memory. A very nice hood. It looks like it functions well. The athletic fit of the jacket looks great for running. The inner pocket sleeve looks brilliant (innovative). Once the jacket is stuffed into its pocket I could see myself carrying in my hand by using the inner pocket sleeve as a place to slip my hand into. Colour, a tad plain. Any reflective bits? You could try shining light through the materials to visually show the difference in permeability/breathability. I'm a fan of mechanical ventilation, especial for high aerobic activities like running. I've been using my favourite longtime running jacket since the snow arrived last month. It features a couple of vertical chest zipper pockets/vents. Quick and easy to pull the zipper down and let the air flow through. To increase air movement I crack open the the top of the main zipper a bit. When I change directions into the wind it's one quick hand motion to shut the vents. Don't get me wrong, I love hybrid running apparel. Hydrid jacket and pants with vents being the best of the best.
Thanks Brian, yes there are reflective bits, I had filmed myself describing them but it ended up on the cutting room floor! Good point about shining a light, I'll try & remember that for the future. Vertical chest zipper pockets work well for venting, what's the brand of winter jacket you're using?
It's a top bit of kit, I quite like the colour, it makes a change from me always having a bright jacket on 😀 Change is as good as a rest & all that jazz 👋
Interesting that Primaloft have an active insulation, never seen that before, looks similar to Polartec Alpha that you see on a lot of top end cycling jackets. Personally I'm still enjoying the Gorewear R5 for coldest days. Just need a baselayer, midlayer never required even below freezing.
Nice that there are choices for everyone out there with new tech, as one bit of kit is never perfect for everyone, the R5 looks like a good option as well 👍
Better is to get a Polartec Alpha hoody and a Patagonia Houdini Air or Airshed shell. Much more versatile. Can be worn is a much wider temperature range. Also look at Brynje mesh base layers.
Both good options, there's a lot of choice out there. I'd say to folk, if they get chance to try things on, they may find a model that fits their shape better than others. I just checked the Brynje website, looks good, I'll keep my eye out for it in the future, thanks 👍
That would be another good option, it does have an extra chest pocket, though I don't think you need 3 external pockets on a running jacket. Similar in weight & specs to the Inov8, a little tighter under the armpits for me, but we're all different shapes 👍
@@TheDeterminedRunner Thanks, Martin, it should arrive on Tuesday so we shall see. The Gore Wear R5 GORE-TEX INFINIUM is also an option, but I dont like its hood, too loose and also maybe just a bit too warm - I mean basically there is no winter any more in Europe let alone a few cold nights. You also have experience with the Gore?
I've not used the Gore Wear R5, I have used various other Gore Wear products, all of which have been excellent, though they definitely size small, so if you do try the R5, maybe think about sizing up 👍 Out of interest, you should have your ME jacket by now, what do you think of it? @@henya2409
@@TheDeterminedRunner I have a minor injury so it was just a small jogging today, 45 minutes in windy conditions, very light rain, temp. is about 4 celcius. I was wearing only the SAYSKY Mesh Base Layer Long Sleeve underneath and the jacket felt really, really good. Hoody is great, cut is great, drawcords are geat, the whole jacket has this quality feel and nice touch. I will update my view after some proper use with more intense running, but my initial thoughts are really good. If it was even lighter (310g in my size L) it may be the best jacket I own, but again, it is early to tell, however, I have a lot of jackets from OMM, Saysky, Mountain Hardwear, Löffler, ON, Patagonia, Arcterix, Daehlie or Montane and the ME Aerotherm Jacket seems to be really up there with the very best. About Gore: it's a tricky one. XL is very tight, XXL is too generous, and its cut is very strange, it is just basically a square so looks a bit weird. Also, the hoody is too big, too loose and that is crucial for me. The drawcords are also a bit lame, not tight enough. However, the jacket itself feels awesome, it is exceptionally light, very breathable, super soft and warm. In the end I sent it back, for that kind of money it should be perfect and the hoody was a big issue for me, but I would very highly recommend it for everyone.
@@henya2409 Hope the injury heals up soon, glad you like the new jacket and the Gore jacket proves why we all need choices as what’s good for one isn’t always right for another 👍
Great review here Martin. Sounds like the jacket has lots of solid features. Carla just picked up the Stormshell from Inov8 recently and it's amazing. I hadn't looked at their products before but thinking of going for one of their jackets. Thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks Ben, Inov8 makes a lot of great products, Jackets included, good to hear Carla is enjoying her Stormshell, I'd certainly try one yourself when you need to replace your old one 👍

Glad you enjoyed it Mihai & thanks for your support buddy 😀
Still running in my inov8 jacket you sold me before the highland fling. It’s great and I use it all the time.
Awesome! I'm guessing you're keeping on top of washing & reproofing it? (not saying you never wash your clothes of course 🤣)
Sort off. Should really do it more often though

Awesome review man! been looking for something for the winter months for running that doesn't involve suit of armour mode
Thanks Andy, with the weather we have at the moment, it's just what's needed 👍
Excellent review Mart!! Sounds like a very well thought out JK. Would be even better if it came in a choice of colours.🔥

Nice one,Martin . I just bought a lovely RonHill jacket but this I E looks great. Nice review.
Thanks Neil, We do love a bit of new kit don't we 😁
I think that good chin feel is a very underrated feature in jackets 🤔👍🏻
Very true Mark, definitely helps on those cold days out 🏃♂️
Nice review. Best wishes out there.
Thanks Nigel, hope all's well with you 👋
👍🏻 For INOV 8
It's good kit Aleksandar 👍

Looks like a nice jacket
It is Naomi 😀
Naaa, definitely the ronhill tech in lifeboat yellow and red, thats the one 🤪
Thought you might say that 🤪
This is a dope jacket right. Lightweight but packs a lot of power.
Cheers Kev, it's ideal at the moment 🥶
I am actually looking for something similar - do you guys have experience with the Mountain Equipment Aerotherm Jacket? Thanks

How tall are you 6ft?
Just asking regards size fit, your similar build to me.

Tempting,£149.99 on sports shoes
That's a great price for it Alan 👍
