Seen a video last night on replacing front springs for lowering springs and they removed the 2 bolts for the bottom A arm and swung it out and old spring was easily removed without removing the steering knuckle assembly
Nice work. Some of the spring compressor tools have that slotted plate that will work under the control arm like the plate you made. I did a video on it a while back. Can't remember which brand it was.
ive bought an 81 el camino and it came with a 305. I havent started the teardown yet but i cam turn it over by hand. another thing is it sat withougha carb or spark plugs and i can feel what might be a rust ridge. is it worth working on the 305 or should i get a 350 or 400?
Understood, but there’s multiple v8 springs to choose from, can you give me the exact one you purchased because the spring response is perfect for my application. Please and thanks
Good job fellas

That sounds like a great way to do it!

It won’t hurt to take it apart and inspect it to get a better look. I’d go with a 350 consider stroking it if resources allow.

Do you have the Coil springs link ? Or part number
We went to rockauto.com filleted to the v8 version and bought those springs. Does that help?

You really should use a tie rod extractor tool and not hammer it loose.
That is a great idea!! I totally missed that doing my research 😅 Thank you! 🙏🏻
Just asking,, like lessons..what's difference in using extracter versus hammer ..i kn it leav marks ..what is other down side
