Wonderful car. All Mercedeses are beautiful pieces of engineering brilliance. The Gelandewagen is easily one of the top ten best cars ever made. Not to mention the G-Klasse is one of the only true offroaders still in production.
Guys that mumble alot about the price and the quality.... Have you ever driven this car? have you ever tried to take it for a ride in such conditions? And if you did, have you then tried to do the same thing with Landcruiser... Well, I did... The difference is huge... and yeah, the price is high, but still, it is worth every f...ing penny. and even more. :) I pay my respect to MB for its G-class.

Well, the new W204 C-Class is actually very well built. I think they learned the lesson now, and the new models are properly built, electronic devices included. But only time will show if this is right...

This big deal was abruptly stopped, as the Shah fled from Persia, and Ayatollah Khomeini was in command in Iran.
A G class is NOT a SUV. The G stands for Geländewagen (cross-country vehicle). It was orginally built for military usage by German/Austrian engineers. It has a tilt angle of 37-54%. - Born offroader, I don't know which G class you mean, but the one I know is perfekt for rough terrain. If you want a better tilt cross-country vehicle, drive an Unimog U5000.

But I have the TLC's for serious 4x4ing. I don't have the Lexus version, I have the real Land Cruisers, but it should be noted that an FJ Cruiser (which I also own) with a URD supercharger and some other engine mods makes 500hp/600+ torque and does 0-62 in 5.0s flat... that stomps the V8 AMG with a TRD V6.
@defeatdeath well,keep in mind this car is hand build,but if you can afford to buy one of these I don't think your really gonna care its worth the money or not,if any people are going to buy it because its so expensive,just so they can feel exclusive.

Land-Rover's Hummer h1 Jeep wrangler Sahara ...just to name a few. although they may not look as good they will all outperform the g class on a trail.
dude i agree with you a 10000% , why is this car soo expensive? whats soo amazing about it that makes it worth the cost ? , im sure that the toyota FJ can kick its ass back to germany..seriously it doesnt even look that amazing...benz should reconsider it's price
The only problem I have with this car is the tail lamps, I wish they could make the back open like a Range Rover tail gate, but thats not as bad. Other than that, this car is the shit.

You can cover up the exhausts all you want, as long as the air induction system isn't occluded, (and water doesn't make it past the seals into your spark plugs) then you're fine. You obviously don't do any off-roading or you'd know this. And sorry if I don't believe that you own one at age 25.

A stock G-Wagon can do class 2 trails, maybe some light class 3, anything more will damage the vehicle and you won't make it through. A stock TLC can do class 4 trails, and class 5 (the hardest) if you don't mind a few bumps and bruises on your vehicle. I own a Unimog and 2 Pinzgauers, my TLC's are more capable than them, G-Wagon - no way.

You'd have to add a huge lift kit and severely modify the truck just to put on 35"s. My FJ80 could literally drive over a G-Wagon's front end like it was nothing. Show me a G-Class doing Pritchett Canyon or Hell's Revenge in Moab, the Rubicon, Baja, or drive to the North Pole - TLC's do these easily.

@ellisfreedman yeah because the torque on the supercharged 5.5 liter (516lb-ft) fits the truck better than a high-revving normally aspirated V8
