Came across an old cutting board while thrifting. The overall wood is lighter in color with a darker swirling pattern. The middle of the board is pretty worn. Wondering if this technique will bring it back to its glory?……
The wood sounds interesting on that one. If the board changes color significantly when wet, it could probably use more oil. How much material to remove with the sanding is usually the biggest decision to make. I like to make thicker boards now so that I can get all of the knife marks out with sanding and still have plenty of board left. Just a heads up - I have seen some older boards that actually have urethane finishes. If your board has one, I'd recommend sanding it off altogether and then oiling. Thanks for watching!
